"After Batman took the blame for murders committed by Harvey Dent to keep alive hopes for Gotham City, Commisioner James Gordon is forced to hunt his friend under pressure from the new Mayor and the Police. Whilst occupied with staying one step ahead of the police, a new riddle filled force arrives udetected in Gotham City to play a whole new set of games for Batman."

Batman is on patrol in Gotham City tackling a drug shipment coming into the city. He foils most of men but one gets away with the shipment which Batman tracks through the city. He stops him in downtown but is then ambushed by the police with the drug being a rouse to capture Batman by Gordon. Batman evades capture and heads back to the batcave but is suddenly knocked off the batpod by a suspended wire. A girl dressed in slimlime black then gets on the batpod and drives off, dropping a valuable stolen diamond necklace which he takes. Batman has to walk back to the batcave where he is greeted by Alfred.

Bruce goes to Wayne Industries the next day to talk to Lucuis who is interviewing a new employee, actually Edward Nigma. Bruce tells Lucuis that he needs another set of wheels as the Batpod was stolen, much to Fox's sarcastic surprise. He offers Bruce another prototype of a military vehicle, based on sports car built for Urban warfar which he nicknames the "Batmobile", to which Bruce smiles.

James Gordon is holding a meeting with high ranking Police Detectives wanting information on the new man leading Maroni's mob. One officer says he is the son of Chesterfield and Barbora Cobblepot who were close friends of the Wayne's but were murdered when the boy was 14. He also says that rumour is he killed Alberto Falcone using his pet penguins hench his nickname "Penguin". Gordon says that he wants to lower mob level again to the same level before the Joker catastrophy starting with the Penguins mob.

The Penguin is meeting with Gambol recently released from Blackgate Prison on mob boudaries within the city. Gambol threatens Penguin who is insulting the other mob bosses but Penguin says that he is going to run this city and unless he wants to get on the wrong side of his pets, he should fall in line. Gambol says he doesn't negogiate with small fat bird freaks and he has declared war. As gambol leaves, the sleek black wearing woman enters and sits down with Penguin who addresses her as "Catty". She puts the bag on the table and Penguin begins looking through the many jewels taking out 2 pieces and putting them in a box next to him filled with other jewels. He then pays her for the jewels but she argues that they are worth more and he doesn't want to be on the wrong side of her claws. He then gives her more money and tells her that he wants her to rob Wayne Enterprises for a valuable heirloom located in main conference hall.

Bruce and Alfred are on their way home as Bruce notices down a side alley the woman on the Batpod and tells Alfred to follow her. They follow her to an apartment before driving back to Wayne Manor. Bruce goes down to the batcave and changes to Batman and takes out the new car. Batman waits for her to appear and just as she does, a young girl is attack by a group of men who Batman chooses to save before going after the woman. The woman gets away heading for Wayne Enterprises with Batman in hot pursuit. When the woman realises, she detours through the alleys and side walks trying to get away with Batman shooting a tracker onto the Batpod before letting her get away. The woman then arrives at Wayne Enterprises using suckers to climb up the side of the building as Batman watches from the opposite building. As she reaches the main conference floor, she cuts a hole in the window with one of her claws and climbs through as Batman flies in and tackles her. She tries to reason with Batman at first apologising for taking his bike and says he can have it back. Batman asks her why she is breaking into a conference room but she says that its none of his business and the 2 egange each other with them both pretty evenly matched with Batman avoiding punching her. As they both grab each other, the woman kisses Batman who pushes her and she falls out of the window to which Batman jumps after her grabbing her and grappling to a side building. She then thanks him and kisses him again before kicking him down and getting away.

Meanwhile, Edward Nigma is sat in his apartment surrounded by newspaper clipping of Batman and also some of his more high profile villains such as Joker, Scarecrow, Rha's Al Ghul and Killer Croc and is making a riddle exposing Harvey Dent for being the murdering vigilante that is to be published in tomorrow' Gotham Time's, under the name Edward Nashton.

Bruce is driving his lamborghini to Wayne enterprises and is greeted at the front door by Jeffrey the vallet who gives him a newspaper and parks his car. He begins reading the paper and notices the article about Harvey Dent which takes his interest as well as an article about the "Catwoman" when he bumps into a blonde woman entering the lift. He introduces himself and apologises to which the woman complies introducing herself as Selina Kyle and his new Personal Assistant. He asks what happened to Jessica his normal PA and she says she had a scratchy throat and was replaced before leaving the lift leaving Bruce smitten.

Gordon is meeting with the Mayor on the article Nashton wrote. The Mayor tells Gordon that he heard rumours that Dent went vigilante but this was denied by Gotham PD, but Gordon admits that Dent did actually go rogue and it was agreed that Batman would take the blame to keep hope up in Gotham. The Mayor also tells Gordon that the increasingly powerful Penguin is becoming more influential and corrupting the Police that Gordon worked so hard to keep clean.

Bruce comes out of his office and tries to entice Selina, but she refuses saying their relationship is strictly professional teasing Bruce to his shocked annoyance but when she realises that to stay behind undetected to steal the heirloom, she kisses Bruce and they sleep together in Bruce's office bed. The security guard comes in and interrupts them and leaves them to before locking the doors for the night. Selina awakes and gets into her costume and steals the heirloom from the conference room before making an escape knocking out the security guards. Bruce awakes to the sound of the alarms and realises that Catwoman and Selina are one and the same, going to the conference room to see the missing heirloom. He then goes to his office using a secret passage to a room with a spare Batsuit and gadgets. He then tracks Catwoman through the city to the former restaurant of Carmine Falcone where Bruce met with him the night he left Gotham. He uses infared scope to look inside to see Catwoman selling the heirloom to Penguin. Batman then flies down onto the roof, breaking through the glass window and taking down the numerus henchman whilst Catwoman escapes with the heirloom. Batman knocks down Penguin before noticing Catwoman escaping but is occupied with the henchman. The Penguin offers Batman a truce before walking and picking up his umbrella but Batman refuses saying he has evidence on Penguin that will put him away at Blackgate to live with his penguins forever. Penguin offers Batman that same chance and presses a button and reveal Batman sat on top of a trap door dropping him into a underground pool filled with Penguin's killer penguins. Batman leaves grenades floating on the pool surface and grapples to the ceiling blowing up the Penguins before swimming under the water to find a seage system leading out to the canal.

As Batman makes it back to his batmobile, he notices a riddle placed on his car which he reads. It explains that "the Riddler" has captured his girlfriend Catwoman and if Batman wishes to save her, he must follow the riddles.

As Penguin and his henchman laugh at their believed demise of Batman, there is a knock at the door which is opened to reveal an identical riddle. Penguin reads it which reveals that the Riddler has possession of his heirloom and to win it back, he must follow the riddles or lose the heirloom.

Bruce, Lucuis and Alfred are at Wayne Manor figuring out the riddles, whilst Penguin has a search out for the Riddler.

Bruce, Lucuis and Alfred put the puzzle together and realise the next clue is at the site of Harvey Dent's death. Batman arrives and trips a wire whilst approaching the next riddle which triggers causes the body of a dead man to drop on top of Batman just as Harvey Dent fell to his death. Batman goes to move the body but it is helped off by James Gordon who also says he received a Riddle. They both read the next riddle which explains that the next riddle is at the site where Harvey Dent killed Sal Maroni. They both arrive their in the Batmobile and read the next clue which leads them to the a riddle at the site of every murder Harvey Dent committed before reaching the real clue. Just as they read it, douzens of reporters and photographers arrive photographing Batman and the police working together.

Catwoman is tied up to a chair that is perfectly balanced ontop of another set of chair legs with a wire attached to each leg connected to a bomb on the top floor of Wayne Enterprises. She awakes and struggles lose before noticing the bomb.

As Batman and Gordon are surrounded by reporters, Batman prepares to leave before noticing Edward Nigma, posing as reporter Edward Nashton the author of the article exposing Dent's crimes. Batman punches Nigma and carries him off before grappling away. Batman takes him to the batcave and interrigates Nigma who predicted this and offers Batman another riddle to the location of Catwoman. Batman takes it and tranqs Nigma before droppig him outside the police station with a message to Gordon. Batman arrives at the location just as Penguin and his mob arrive who begin shooting at Batman. Batman then goes into stealth mode taking out Penguins mob leaving only Penguin who uses opens his umbrella which is revealed to be a machine gun. He then manages to shoot Batman injuring him in right arm before Batman tells him they have both been set up.

Nigma goes back to Wayne Enterprises now dressed in a green suit and hat and black face paint actig as a mask. He starts the bomb underneath Catwoman removing her mask before drawing a question mark on her face leaving 15 minutes. He then goes to the advanced science department of the building revealing he has rebuilt the machine that Batman and Lucuis used in TDK but to hack into every TV station, radio and cell phone. The Riddler then broadcasts that he has caught the notorius theif "Catwoman" and that he has taken matters into his own hands and put a bomb under her that will blow her up in 15 minutes and that he is confirming that Harvey Dent is a murderer. He then leaves a riddle as to why he is so bothered along with the phrase "Why so serious" implying he is in league with the Joker.

Batman is contacted by Lucuis who tells that Nigma and Selina are at Wayne Enterprises and is using the machine that he built. Penguin and his "crack team" arrive at Wayne enterprises after having a tip off and begin searching the building for Penguin's family heirloom. Batman crashes through the window and is attacked by Penguin's men who he quickly disposes of. He then makes it to the top floor and is confronted by a riddle of how to stop the bomb. He makes it through the first trap laid and the second before being presented with a keypad and a phone. He picks up the phone and dials out to Jim Gordon with Batman wondering why it dialled out to him. He tells him that Batman told him he wanted the cell number for the Joker for the code but Batman says it wasn't him. With only 12 seconds left, Batman uses the cell number as the code and it stops the bomb.

A cell at Arkham Asylum down a dark corridor flings open with the same cell number on the door.

Batman helps Selina off of the chair.

The Riddler meets up with a woman dressed as a harlequin jester outside Akham Asylum. She gives him a package containing $1,000,000 and says that Joker will be pleased with Harley.

The Joker, in a straight jacket emerges from his cell laughing wakling into the dark corridor.

Whilst Selina is recovering her composure, Batman says he must take the bomb for safety before Selina kisses hm and Batman kisses her back. She then slaps him round the face and says she is stil a thief before stealing his gapple gun and jumping out of the window. Batman then smiles before getting a call from Gordon saying that the Joker has escaped from Arkhum and Batman says he will get right on it.

Not bad.. But, isn't gambol dead?..

And while I was reading this, I got some familiar thoughts of resemblance to "A Long Halloween"..

You should do a script though. Good work.

This is a real neat screenplay that you wrote, I also wrote one and it went like this...

It has been about six months to a year since the events of the Dark Knight has passed. The Joker has been locked away in Arkham Asylum, Two-Face is dead, and Batman is hated by the public for the supposed murders he committed, while Gotham is as bad as it has ever been. But some people have come to believe in the name of Batman and have also decided to fight the war on crime in Gotham City, just as ordinary every day citizens are trying to do what Batman did. One in particular is Catwoman, a woman who uses a cat as her symbol of justice, law, and order, and who copies Batman as a vigilante trying to stop crime in the midst of Batman’s absence and actually is cleaning up Gotham.

Bruce Wayne at this time has become a recluse since the events of the Dark Knight, personally blaming himself for the deaths of Rachel Dawes and Harvey Dent at the hands of the madman, the Joker. He has become a drunkard and keeps himself locked in the rebuilt Wayne Manor fighting through his inner demons and pain that comes to him every day. He has given up on being a hero, believing that he has only made things worse for himself and for Gotham City and that trying to be Batman was a foolish crusade. In addition to this Wayne Enterprises is being bought and taken over by Cobblepot Industries, due to the recent 2008 failing economy in America and the neglect of Wayne having no dealings with the company or any interaction with the outside world due to his trouble spirits. Cobblepot Industries is headed by a man known as Oswald Cobblepot and in some circles, is known as the Penguin due to his ugly and overweight appearance. Cobblepot has also been working behind the shadows to take over as the head crime boss of Gotham City, since Carmine Falcone is still in Arkham Asylum, and the remaining crime bosses, such as Gambol, the Chechen, and Sal Maroni were killed off in the Dark Knight by the Joker and Two-Face.

While this is going on, a mysterious criminal known as the Riddler has come on the scene and is trying to cause chaos in Gotham and bring about its ultimate destruction. What is shown in flashback sequences at the beginning or perhaps later in the film and through what is told by the Riddler is that he was a simple computer programmer known as Edward Nygma, who unfortunately lost his job during the economic crisis of 2008 and was about to lose his home due to back payments, as well as trying to pay medical bills for his sick wife, who was unfortunately dying of an inoperable brain tumor. This led him to join a gang in an act of depression and desperation who try to rob a jewelry store, so he could get money and save what little of a life he had left. Unfortunately during the robbery, Batman had come on the scene and stopped the bad guys including Nygma, who tragically broke his legs and the last remnant of his sanity in the ensuing chaos and was sent to jail. All in all he became a crippled man with metal rods placed in his legs for support and leading him to use a cane for support, while causing him to experience unending pain every day as a result. When released from prison, he discovers that his house was lost and his wife had died to her cancer. He has since blamed Batman for what happened and vowed to get revenge on him, whatever the cost.

Fast forward to the present, he takes up the mantle of the Riddler and is trying to draw Batman out of his seclusion, so he can have his revenge and kill him. He does this by kidnapping various police officers and local government officials, and subjecting them to various measures of extreme torture and eventual death, if they cannot solve his insane riddles placed before them, such as (who is the dark knight) and (how can I find the batman). He also asks these riddles and others on Batman in Gotham’s newspapers and has the occasional tendency to blow up various buildings and such to scare people into giving up Batman, as well as trying to get Batman to return to Gotham so he can kill him. Eventually, Alfred gets Bruce to go back out and face the Riddler and the Penguin. Catwoman also inspires him to be a hero again and in doing so, she willingly takes the blame for the murders Two-face committed in the Dark Knight. The police and public at large buy into this; since Catwoman has a similar costume to Batman’s and therefore was a “Case Of Mistaken Identity”. Unfortunately, the families of Two Face’s victims still hold a grudge and Catwoman is killed by them.

Batman goes to Lucius Fox, who still has some equipment left to give to Batman, to stop the Penguin and Riddler. Batman gets a new batsuit, a stealth boat, known as the Batboat, and a newly designed military fighter plane, which he dubs the Batwing, another Tumbler, and various new gadgets in order to complete his mission. It appears that the Penguin became Gotham’s new crime boss and tried to rule Gotham with the Riddler, as his partner, but Riddler uses Penguin and eventually gets his hands on two biologically devastating chemical missiles that he plans to fire upon Gotham City, killing all of its citizens in the process, as well as himself. He feels that since he has suffered so much, humanity shall suffer too. Batman and Riddler eventually fight and Riddler tries his hardest to kill Batman, since he blames Batman for the problems of his life. Batman eventually defeats Riddler, who dies refusing to give up his hatred and the evil within him. Batman finally puts his pain to rest, is reaccepted by Gotham’s citizens, and becomes Gotham City’s hero forever.

Hopefully the series will continue after the third movie with good villains. Perhaps Mr. Freeze could be a maniac albino, due to the white skin idea without the suit to keep him alive, or a regular guy that kills individuals with a liquid nitrogen gun or by more realistic means and puts their bodies on meat hooks in freezer rooms of his own warehouse or in large blocks of ice. Poison Ivy could be the leader of a terrorist organization that uses a unique plant hybrid to disperse a devastating mutagen into the air that would lead to the spread of a flesh eating virus in Gotham. Or perhaps Killer Croc could be used as a man with a DNA mutation that leads to scaley skin and be a cannibal in Gotham’s sewers who has filled down his teeth.

I don't really like this one, too much going on. The thing about Nolan, he keeps the ammount of characters down while using the supporting cast to make the story progress around the central characters. This has too many characters, and I really don't think your Penguin would translate well on screen.

Batman 3 needs to be back ot basics, otherwise Nolan could throw the S on this one.

oh, and Gambol is dead, Joker killed him.

This is not a screenplay or script.
There are no scene descriptions like
in a script. No dialogue.

Not a bad brief story though!
But definitely not a full movie script
idea!

Here is script form:

NIGHT. INT.(Interior) POLICE DET. BRIEFING ROOM.
James Gordon is meeting with high ranking Police Detectives
looking for info on the new man leading Maroni's mob.

FIRST DET.:
He's the son of Chesterfield and
Barbara Cobblepot, who were close
friends of the Wayne's. They were
murdered when the boy was only
fourteen.

2ND DET.:
Yeah, rumor is he offed Alberto
Falcone using his trained pet
penguins. That's how come he got
the nickname, THE PENGUIN!

Just a brief example of actual screenplay form.

A good book to get to learn screenwriting form and
scriptwriting is:

"Screenplay"
"The Foundations of Screenwriting"
By Sid Field!

Another excellent book is:

"The Complete Book of Screenwriting"
by J. Micahel Straczinski

You can get it right on Amazon!

These books explain everything in a plain and
concise fashion.

The easiest way to get a script story idea down on paper in
script form is to put it into what is called a 12-page
treatment script. Its only 12-pages long or 12 sheets of
printer paper.

These books will teach you that! They are not big thick books
but small and very to the point texts on how to write for
scripts and movies. They are rather easy to read and its not
very hard to learn to write in script form! Its quite simple
actually!

I know you just wrote this down in stream of conscious
mode. I'm not saying you were trying to write in complete
script form. I just thought you might like to have some
info about scriptwriting.

I'm going to be honest, this sounds more like a Joel Schumacher movie then it does a Christopher Nolan film. It's pretty good, but Dark Knight is better. If they make another one, it should be as good if not slightly better then the first two. I know for a fact that Catwoman and Penguin or even Mr. Freeze won't be in Batman 3 as Chris Nolan has said they wouldn't fit into the realistic world of Batman. And besides I want to see a new villain, not a rehash. Joker was fine for Dark Knight, as was Two-Face. But Catwoman and Penguin together? That sounds a bit too much like Tim Burton's Batman Returns. This is still pretty interesting, but I don't think it would make it as a Christopher Nolan film. I wouldn't mind Riddler because I thought Jim Carrey's was too comedic. He should be sadistic like the one in the Batman: Arkham Asylum video game. I wouldn't mind Harley Quinn, and I personally would like to see Talia Al-Ghul, Ra's Al-Ghul's daughter. I think it would be a nice way to end the trilogy and come full circle. As for Joker escaping, and leading to a fourth one with possible five and six, I wouldn't like that. Heath Ledger was brilliant as the Joker and I don't think anyone could do it better then him.
After Batman 3 they need to stop. Don't get me wrong, I love Batman, but I would rather they end the trilogy and give Batman some dignity. We don't need another Batman and Robin here. End the series while it's still great.
