The websites Little White Lies and Financial Times have the first reviews of Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, and they're not very good. The first review is far more detailed than the second and more harsh. Read the full review from Litte White Lies HERE and the full review from Financial Times HERE. Here are excerpts from both reviews:

Little White Lies:

It’s sad to report that Spirit of Vengeance has little of the boisterous Xbox vitality of their Crank-ed up finest, but plenty in common with the slack narrative, confounding characters, bromidic dialogue, shaky SFX and palpable ambition-to-budget shortfall of the Jimmy Hayward-directed atrocity, Hex.

The lack of conviction brought to the story echoes throughout the entire production, with dumb character reveals, disjointed scenes, drab locations and stranded pauses in the middle of action sequences. The occasional flash of directorial bravado, such as Cage burning headlong toward camera whilst being rocked by a dose of the Jacob’s Ladder face-shakes, or a minimalist Saul Bass-y dream sequence, exists in empty space that one would be tempted to describe as airless if it weren’t so very, very loud.

You'll no doubt hear it said elsewhere, but, by comparison, this really does make the first Ghost Rider seem like stone-baked gold.

Rating: 1/5

Financial Times:

It’s all a bit ITV drama premiere. (One keeps expecting Trevor Eve to appear in a bomber jacket.)

Ghost Rider ... cannot claim to say much about human nature, but who could not love this actor?

Rating: 2/5

The cast includes Nicolas Cage, Idris Elba, Christopher Lambert, Johnny Whitworth, Violante Placido and Ciarán Hinds. Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance will be hitting theatres tomorrow!

I enjoyed Crank and lets be honest thats not exactly a "good" movie but its dumb and fun so deep down I am hoping GR is the same. Because the first movie was boring!

these reviews are coming from websites that look at films, not movies, of course there gonna say its garbage when there used to reviewing cassablanca and other actual films. Not in your face heads of fire comic characters like ghost rider, i cant wait to see it!!

Phuck the reviews. This movie, no matter what, is going to be awesome. And it's not going to be the first one. So woop! I'll be seeing it tomorrow afternoon with pure delight. But hey... That's just me.

Jessepostal, so you only take into account reviewers that think shite like Transformers is awesome?

I see what you are saying but there are lots of pure action movies that still get good reviews.
Hellsing
Hellsing - 2/16/2012, 2:03 PM
Some of you guys make it sound like action movies don't need to have good plots, I mean sure we go to see the action but then again you can just youtube it later and watch all the best action scenes. Ghost Protocols an action movie through and through, its plot was simple but it was still amazing and I believe it has 93% RT rating, so saying reviewers don't really know or care about action movies is just stupid.

But saying that a lot of critics are quite snobby and pompous about movies, so who knows we just gotta wait and see.

@ryguy, not at all but a movie about ghostrider never stood a chance to those reviewers. and im sure that they didn't think transformers was that good either,a movie doesn't need heart and soul to be a good movie, there are tons of popcorn movies that are just a great time to watch even with there flaws or plot holes. Look at the way there reviews are worded, this movie is not even in the same class, two way different things.

How, HOW can people (especially the Crank guys)not make a Ghost Rider movie that's entertaining?!?! Its an action movie about a flaming skeleton on a freaking motorcycle, a concept that is inherently cool! To say Ghost Rider isn't cool is like saying duel welding sawed off shotguns isn't cool, or decapitating zombies with a samurai sword isn't cool! These are inherently cool things!

Take a basic plot, a decent villain, and fill it with the craziest action you can think of, and you will get my money! How can you fail at this?!? HOW?!?

jessepostal: Any movie, no matter how silly the source material can be made into a good movie. Look at BB and TDK, at their bare-bones they're movies about a guy who fights crime in a Bat costume because he misses his Mommy and Daddy. Your point is invalid!
MassExecutions
MassExecutions - 2/16/2012, 2:21 PM
@Gusto - I know! That's virtually impossible!
jessepostal
jessepostal - 2/16/2012, 2:24 PM
@theirishavenger, i never said that it couldnt, i think it depends on what you look for in a movie,i for one loved the punisher war zone, people hate it but i thought it was good, batman is a whole other machine, there not even in comparison.Batman is loved by many because he has no superpowers and is just a man,for some reason people relate to him, and how is my point invalid? Its my opinion

Boy why am I sensing the inevitable DC vs. Marvel argument beginning to brew? I'm watching it tomorrow. Are my hopes high? No. But I watch every CBM and try to enjoy them.

Nick Cage alone shouldn't be able to sink this movie. Surely he hasn't become THAT powerful!
