It's been a decade since Bruce Wayne hung up his cape, following most of the other superheroes who had been forced into retirement. Facing the downside of middle age, a restless Bruce Wayne pacifies his frustration with race cars and liquor – but the bat still beckons as he watches his city fall prey to gangs of barbaric criminals known as The Mutants.

The return of Harvey Dent as Two-Face finally prompts Wayne to once again don the Dark Knight’s cowl, and his dramatic capture of the villain returns him to crime-fighting – simultaneously making him the target of law enforcement and the new hope for a desolate Gotham City. Particularly inspired is a teenage girl named Carrie, who adopts the persona of Robin and ultimately saves Batman from a brutal attack by the Mutant leader. Armed with a new sidekick, and re-energized with a definitive purpose, the Dark Knight returns to protect Gotham from foes new...and old.

The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1 will be available on DVD/Blu-Ray/Digital Download October 23rd!

To repeat: Any word on a UK Bluray release? We only got the DVD release of Year One. The region coding Bullsh*t really messes everything up. Then the Corporate Suits p*ss and Moan when people download for free. Sort this cr*p out people.

@ SHHH - it's two parts because the book is long and the Batman vs. The Mutant's is only part of the story. The rest of story brings in two other main villains and you get to see where some of Bat's allies have ended up now in life.

If you haven't read it - seriously look at picking it up as it is one of the best Batman books I've ever read.

@ cipher - my favorite line would have to be
"You don’t get it, boy. This isn’t a mudhole… It’s an operating table. And I’m the surgeon"
That scene is gonna be sweet in the movie

This artwork is amazing!

I have to reread TDK, I don't remember much of the story. But I do remember it having some crazy scenes. I know this movie is going to be amazing.

DC has some of the absolute best cover art! Magnificent!

"OK, boy. Show me." Easily the best line of the book. The art tends to degrade as you progress through the book but I don't think we'll have that problem with the movie. Truth is, I always wanted them to do a live-action version of this story.

Nice, Yossarian!
This is EPIC!!!!
I would like to see Marvel make a multi-part adaptation of Secret Wars, X-tinction Agenda, and Infinity Gauntlet!!! Oh, and the one where the Masters of Evil invade the Avengers Mansion.

@syringe totally agree. It sounds so easy it's ridiculous that Marvel/Disney can't do it.

Step 1: Choose a quality story arc
Step2: Hire quality directors, voice actors and animators to adapt it
Step 3: Rinse and repeat

Why cant they do what DC has done with Batman: year one, the dark knight returns, and Superman and the Elite. Get the writers on as consultants too dammit!

Geez, it's not rocket surgery! Lol

What about Hush? Joker by Azzarello?

Marvel should do a brutal X-Force one, oh that would be epic!! Or a dramatic Silver Surfer: Requiem :o
