Thanks to the folks at Heirs of Durin, several new images from Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey have hit the web! Including new promo images in a 16-month, 2013 calender and also new stills from the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, check out the six images (which you can enlarge by clicking) below!

The adventure follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakenshield. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers.

Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever…Gollum.

Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of guile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum’s "precious" ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities … A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.

The first installment in The Hobbit trilogy stars Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, Ian McKellen as Gandalf the Grey, Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield, Andy Serkis as Gollum, Hugo Weaving as Elrond, Benedict Cumberbatch as Smaug, Luke Evans as Bard the Bowman, Christopher Lee as Saruman the White, Cate Blanchett as Galadriel, Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins and Orlando Bloom as Legolas. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey hits theaters December 14th 2012, the second installment, The Hobbit: There And Back Again (title subject to change) hits December 13th, 2013 and the third chapter of the trilogy hits Summer 2014!

So odd seeing Martin Freeman in a big movie over all the small-scale U.K-based stuff he has writtten and starred in over here for absolutely years (the office, BBC dramas etc).

And now he's breaking the hobbit of a lifetime and going 'all Hollywood™' - lol, fair play to ya mate, but you'll always be seen somewhat differently over here. :)

@AlexdoxA;
"I have a "panthom menace" bad feeling about this"

Sounds classically Greek.

Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins (SEEN THEM!) and Orcs (SEEN THEM TOO!), deadly Wargs (YEP, SEEN THEM!) and Giant Spiders (CHECK! *ticks box*), Shapeshifters (o-k... interesting!) - and Sorcerers (SEEN THEM!).

Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain first they must escape the goblin tunnels -(SOUNDS GOOD!), - where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever…Gollum (OH!, FFS!, not HIM again!).

Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of guile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum’s "precious" ring -(FFS!, AGAIN? - *THROWS POPCORN AND STORMS OUT*)- that holds unexpected and useful qualities … A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.

Difference between The Hobbit and Phantom Menance is it's based off of actual literature whereas PM was scriblings on used toilet paper.

I think the movie will be great, i'm just really pissed that they've turned it into a trilogy. And hearing form cumberbutt that all you'll see of Smaug in the first is his eye at the end is also disappointing, if not expected

I wonder how many times I'll see this. More than any other movie I've seen more than once this year I'm sure.

The Dark Knight Rises and now The Hobbit. Way to wash Green Lantern away Warner Bros. Well done. Man of Steel looking awesome by the way as well.

I still wonder what DelToro would have done with the franchise.

@FatherMidnight;
"Galadriel's c-through :D"

You'd better hope she doesn't catch you perving. Shes a witch of terrible power - it would be bad for your elf.

Speaking of Cumberbutt...I am so tired of hearing about this guy. He's painful to look at. His role is voice only. I watched part of a Sherlock...he's not that great. He must have same agent as Sam Worthington.
