Back in February of 2011, Screen Gems (the company who have produced the Resident Evil movies) acquired the rights to make a film adaptation based on the popular Devil May Cry video game franchise. It has been previously stated that Kyle Ward (Machete Kills) would be writing the script but there has not been any news on a release date or casting for the project. The company who develops the games, Capcom have also stated in the past that the game would be based on the new rebooted take on the franchise, DmC: Devil May Cry. Now, Alberta Film Ratings have classified a trailer for the film adaptation, and it looks set to debut with the latest Resident Evil film, Resident Evil: Retribution; the trailer classified is 1:31 in length. It's very possible that this trailer could simply be an announcment trailer, but nothing is clear just yet. Stay tuned to CBM for more on this news.

Btw, before anyone suggests it's for the new game, bear in mind that the site I found that listing on only lists movie trailers that are about to be released, not game trailers. Just so you know.

Boooooo! *tomatoes being thrown

Never liked this game series. I tried it, and it's just not for me. Plus, Dante is WAAAAAAY too overpowered in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, but that's just my opinion.

I wanna see a Mass Effect movie, or a Bioshock movie. Not this crap. Still, maybe it will be decent. We will wait and see.

My favourite gaming series that I didn´t even get to see be finished because they decided to reboot it, I swear that if the Dante is the new one I will probably do something that I´ll probably regret and go to Arkham Asylum.

After thinking of what they did to the series and what they´re probably gonna do with this movie I´m starting to get reaaally mad, haven´t been this mad in a while, only Capcom to rustle my jimmies like that.

Its fitting that a game franchise that came out of a concept for a Resident Evil sequel would be paired with a Resident Evil movie, and while there is some great potential here, that fact that it is even remotely tied to the RE flms series scares me.

Why the f**k would you do a movie about the emo Dante, we know nothing about him and if this is there way of getting fans to jump on this new look/take on him then im not impressed.

For some stupid reason the movie industry loves to shit all over video-games
Fortunately for them the job was already done when that game series shat on itself by introducing emo Dante. Now its going to be much easier for Hollywood to make yet another terrible videogame film

@ckal
That´s what´s so great about this series the over the top nonsensical action packed moments, and of course the fluid and fast 60fps gameplay which the new game won´t have.

Silent Hill being held as the best game-based film only shows how much the genre gets little yo no respect.

The primary problem with game films is the lack of effort put into them and by extension; credible directors, writers and actors aren't interested in them.

Devil May Cry is a sick ass idea for a movie and I've always envisioned it. But what good is bringing it to the big screen when the chances of it being a cheaply thrown together shitfest is most likely.

Look to Metal Gear to break the cycle. I can't see it being thrown together and without care.

I'm surprised how many people seem to hate the game. Guess it's the difference between people who grew up on shooters and people who grew up on games like Megaman. I'll still like my games in levels with bosses.

As bad as the Resident Evil movies have been, they have featured the kind of stupid over-the-top action scenes I would expect from a Devil May Cry movie, so maybe there's hope...? Probably not, but juuust maybe...

DAM! Not Devil May Cry too!

I don't have a lot of faith in this being good, if the company behind the RE movies is doing this.

Ah, que lastima!

@SageMode I really enjoyed Mortal Kombat and Tomb Raider(captured the spirit of the video games).

I haven't watched Silent Hill.

Silent Hill is the best game based movie. Resident Evil is second just because their haven't been alot of successful ones. Still waiting on a GOW and Uncharted movie.

YES! Biggest DMC fan on this site and I'm pretty damn excited!

Anyone talking shit about the game obviously hasn't played it. It was my favorite franchise for the longest time.

Don't ruin it!!!

Silent Hill was such a good video game adaption, and it didn't even try that hard, unlike one movie franchise......RE

Um... PG rating? Nope, not true. Resident Evil is rated R, so DmC will be seeing as they're both horror games.

Nighmarewalking117 - 8/31/2012, 8:07 PM
If their doing the "rebooted version" then yeah like Jer3miah said, "Make it R" and it needs to be blood-field, demonic-hoard-almost zombie-like demons, coming-out Hell like every-second and it needs that bad-ass music from the TV Series and Games and a lot of cool-kick-ass-stunt-work. Damn, it would be awesome to play Dante.
