*WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN WATCHMEN*
Mortal Kombat vs. Watchmen
Crossover between MK and Watchmen universe.
Developer:
Plot:
When Quan Chi attempts to create a secret portal to Earth Realm with the assistance of Shinnok, their portal tampers with Dr. Manhattan's tachyon particles in the Watchmen universe. With enough power to distort the space-time continuum, the two realms begin to merge. It's not too long before the shattered team of Watchmen hear about the arrival of the Kombatants; warriors from both sides of the MK spectrum of good and evil are arriving in the city. Fearing that the MK warriors are here to invade, the Watchmen launch an assault against them, with Rorschach at the helm. Once the fighting commences, sparks fly and heads roll. Coming face to face with the invaders, Rorschach blames the death of Eddie Blake on Quan-Chi, and his “Mask-Killer” theory suddenly becomes much more realistic.
Will Shao-Kahn rule over the Earth once again, or can the Watchmen become true heroes?
Gameplay:
The game will take heavy influence from the recent title from Netherrealm Studios, Mortal Kombat (2011). X-Ray Moves will be making a return. Since the Watchmen are under a separate DC license, Fatalities will be used too...with all the bells and whistles. As a side note, the merging of the realms and the disruption of time has weakened Dr. Manhattan, and he is no longer invincible.

Extended Story:
(See Prologue)
Once Quan-Chi and Shinnok successfully invade the Watchmen universe, they lay low until they can do some research. After figuring about the history of the Watchmen and the Minutemen, they decide that they should assassinate the remaining members in order to help their effort to take over the city. As fate would have it, Eddie Blake is their first target. Kano is sent on the assassination mission. He accidentally runs into Ozymandias, who was the original murderer. When Ozymandias flees the scene, Kano kills Eddie Blake instead. Thus, the Watchmen time line is begun, but with a different murderer.
When Rorschach investigates Eddie's death, he finds one of Kano's knives along with the bloodied button. Meanwhile, the warriors from Earth Realm have already begun to chase after Quan-Chi and Shinnok. This insurrection of kombatants draws more people from the MK universe into the city.
A war to stop the sorcerers begins in the midst of Rorschach's investigation. Rorschach runs into a few Tarkatans on his way to Daniel's house, and also on his way to Dr. Manhattan. As before, he is not believed, and Dr. Manhattan's inability to see the future is blamed on the threat of nuclear war.
In light of the recent run-ins with the MK fighters, including a failed assassination attempt on Ozymandias and Silk Spectre, the Watchmen decide that they must reunite one last time to stop the invasion. Little do they know, Quan-Chi has already resurrected The Comedian, who is dedicated to serve him now. Quan-Chi and Shinnok's magic has an unexpected side-effect however, and some of the resurrection magic they use leaks into the tachyon particles of Dr. Manhattan. This interferes further with the time line, and some villains and heroes from the Watchmen universe are revived to their fighting states. Even worse, some heroes and villains who passed in yesteryears have been resurrected.
Many battles take place between warriors from both universes.
With little solace or time, Ozymandias and Dr. Manhattan begin to develop a way to eradicate the evildoers of the MK universe using Ozymandias's original doomsday machine. Using the corpse of a Tarkatan, they start to build a machine that can pinpoint the locations of the MK invaders. However, numerous murders across the city interrupt their progress. Fate steps in again though, and Dr. Manhattan gets into an argument with Laurie. Leaving for Mars, Ozymandias is left in cold blood. Luckily, Rorschach and Dan make headway with their efforts to create some order, and they befriend Raiden and company. With some added warriors to their ranks, the Watchmen are stronger to take back their city.
During the war, Nite Owl is slain by Moloch, despite his new found youth. Silhouette also dies at the hands of Mileena. Chasing after Dr. Manhattan, Cyrax and Sektor fight him on Mars. Cyrax is crushed in a freak accident, but Sektor is able to escape via a portal Quan-Chi creates. Distressed by the attack, Dr. Manhattan has a change of heart, realizing that this battle is bigger than himself. He goes back to Earth to help. With his assistance, the machine Ozymandias was working on starts to come to a close.
At Ozymandias's secret base of operations, the Watchmen and Raiden's company prepare to launch the machine. Shao Kahn and his legion arrive though, and a final showdown incurs. During the battles, the following warriors die:
*Captain Axis
*Mobster
*Twilight Lady
*Spaceman
*Screaming Skull
*Baraka
*Smoke (only to be resurrected in cyborg form later)
*Comedian, permanently at the hands of Ozymandias
Ozymandias is finally able to start the warm-up sequence of the machine. The MK warriors are weakened, but not defeated yet. This returns some of Dr. Manhattan's lost power, and he faces off against Shao Kahn. When he defeats Shao Kahn, Quan-Chi and Shinnok realize that they may lose the war. All of Shao Kahn's power transfers to Dr. Manhattan. Dr. Manhattan uses his power to send all of the Kombatants home, and fix the tear in the space-time continuum permanently, but not before Kano reveals to them his run in with Ozymandias at Eddie Blake's apartment. With the evildoers reckoned with, Raiden and his warriors bid the Watchmen a warm farewell, from one group of heroes to another.
After the calamity settles, the Watchmen are renowned world wide as saviors, and nuclear war is prevented, but not all problems are solved. Rorschach still wants vengeance for the Comedian, since he was going to be murdered by Ozymandias in the first place. Rorschach threatens to tell the world about his treachery, and Dr. Manhattan cannot allow that. Despite the turn of events created from the MK invasion, he still kills Rorschach.
Rorschach's Death by jfmoa
The time line resumes its normal events from there. Dan and Laurie live happily ever after, mourning the death of Rorschach. Contrary to the original story however, Ozymandias has a pendant given to him from Raiden as a gift, from one leader to another. It is revealed in a flashback that Ozymandias told Raiden his original scheme, and Raiden was in agreement with him.
