Don't worry its not as long as it looks, there are pictures in it making it look longer. This story has taken a lot longer than I expected to write. This is the second part of my Legion of Doom story. The first part was about the Legion preparing and making its move. You can find part 1 at http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/OnlyZodKnowsWhy/news/?a=6375
This is part 2 hopefully I'll have the finale part soon. Here it is Part 2 Justice League: Doomsday

“Thomas Fuller wrote, The Night is darkest before the Dawn, those words have never been more true than they are now.” “We set out to save the world, now we’ll be lucky to just save ourselves.” Camera zooms out revealing the silhouette of a man with a cape and cowl, Batman, standing on a rooftop in Gotham cape billowing in the breeze. Batman checked the locator in his hand, it showed one of the signals heading towards Gotham at unbelievable speeds.
Beep, Beep. It was the comm. unit. “Batman, go ahead”

“Batman this is Arrow. Me and Canary are boarding the fastest jet I have, it’s a prototype for the army called the Javelin. We’ll be at Gotham in 30 minutes.” Green Arrow said that last bit with pride, and excitement. Batman thought for a moment and replied “How fast can it get to the Sahara?”
“50 minutes, what’s in the Sahara?.” “ You’ve got 30, get there and hurry you’ve got to get to Diana and Aquaman, and I’ll send you the coordinates. I have an idea that you may need a few things as well”

Batman turned around as the Flash arrived “Bats what’s going on? I just went through a live action remake of the Wizard of Oz meets Attack of the 50ft Woman.” Batman filled him in on the situation, Superman captured, Wonder Woman and Aquaman in the desert not responding , and Arrow and Canary going to check on them, and no word from the Martian, and Hal was trapped in space. “Ok I’ll go check on Jon” Flash said preparing to leave. “Never mind that, I have something else that you need to do.”

Green Arrow and Black Canary were in the prototype for Queen Industries Javelin racing across the globe to the coordinates Batman provided. “We should be nearing the location now” Canary said. Oliver brought the jet to a lower altitude and slowed the speed so they could survey the landscape. “I see them, we’re heading down.” Arrow said as he brought the Javelin down for a landing. “Get those antitoxins and that water ready Dinah.” Dinah got the items that Batman told them to bring. On the sand below them, a dozen tanks readied to attack the heroes as they landed. Arrow set the jet down and lowered the boarding ramp. They rushed out of the jet and ran over to their friends. Arrow ran to Aquaman. Arrow turned Aquaman over and saw several things. Aquaman had a large cut on his chest it didn’t look fatal, if Aquaman got into water soon. Aquaman was also severely dehydrated, he had white flaky patched on his skin, and his face was dried and cracking. Arrow untied Aquaman and began to carry him back to the jet.

Canary checked on Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman had her bracelets bound by her lasso, Canary recalled that this robbed her of her strength. Canary untied Diana. “Poison.” Diana was able to cough out. “We have some anti toxins in the jet come on.” Canary lifted her friend and began to walk back to the jet. Suddenly there was an explosion next to her that spewed sand everywhere. Canary dropped herself and Diana to the ground. Arrow already at the jet was hooking an IV up to Aquaman. Arrow wanted to rush out to help but Aquaman may die without water. “Go” Aquaman croaked. Arrow ran down the ramp and saw, what can be described at best as an unusual sight. Dinah was dodging explosive rounds fired from a dozen foot long tanks. Arrow pulled three Arrows from his quiver and aimed. Dinah was trying to carry Wonder Woman and dodge the rounds from the tanks, when she saw three familiar looking explosive arrows fly past her head. As the arrows neared the tank they broke apart into four other smaller arrows, each taking out a tank. Canary and Wonder Woman made it aboard the jet.
Batman in the meantime had made it back to the Bat cave. He had the most advanced computer on the planet at his disposal, and he was going to push it to its limits.

Meanwhile at the Hall of Doom.

“Luthor why don’t we just kill Superman now?” Grodd demanded. “We’ve already been over this Grodd, we have to wait until our communication satellite is in position to broadcast his execution to the world.” Giganta began to speak but was cut off by Brainiac, “And we must also remember that our backer ordered us to wait until that moment in order for us to receive compensation for our actions.” Brainiac’s remark immediately ended all of the other Legion member’s remarks. “I notice that you and Lex have yet to tell us who exactly we are working for.” The Riddler remarked. Lex looked at the Riddler and smiled “My dear, Mr. Nigma are you really so impatient that you can’t wait? Just say the word and I’ll kill him, but do you really want to risk everything we could gain, not just for yourself, but for all of us. We could be rule the world if we just follow the orders given to us, but if you want to give it all up, the choice is yours.” After Luthor’s last remark the Riddler noticed he was getting some very harsh glances from the others, especially Giganta. “No, I thought not.” Lex turned and walked out of the chamber.

Later. Luthor walked up to the containment cell in which Superman was being held. He looked at all the devices that were holding the man of steel, a set of Kryptonite hand cuffs that spontaneously sent shocks through him, a lamp that bathed the cell in red solar radiation, and two dozen Superman robots that could shoot ice, fire, and Kryptonite energy beams from their eyes, created by Toyman. Luthor turned and saw that Grodd and Brainiac were approaching as expected. “Now that we are all here, tell me Superman, just where is your Fortress of Solitude.” Superman saw there with his head down and then looked up at Luthor “I’ll never tell you , there are things there that could destroy the world, but you know that, don’t you, you created most of them.” Luthor smiled and entered the cell, pulling out what to appeared to be a cross between gauntlets and a pair high-tech pair of brass knuckles out of a pocket. “Yes I did create several of those items. But I am interested in something that’s out of this world, something that is a little close to home for you.” At this Lex slipped the device on his hand, he made a fist and it began to spark with energy current. He took a punch at Superman, obviously dealing much pain “TALK!” He shouted at Superman. “I’d do as he says Kal-El” Brainiac said with his usual sense of necessity. “Never.” Superman said spitting in Luthor’s face. Lex angered activated the device on his hand, now causing it to spark with a great intensity. He punched Superman in the gut, then he grabbed Superman by his hair with one hand. Lex pulled his other hand back. He began punching Superman as hard as he could in the face. He hit Superman so many times that his lips split, his brow was cut, and one vicious blow pierced Superman’s cheek. Superman’s head slammed back from the force hitting the cell wall, causing his restraints to shock him. Lex then wrapped both of his hands around Superman's throat and face, the energy and power caused Superman intense pain. Lex held on until he began to smell to scent of burning flesh. Superman attempted to use his heat vision, but he was to weak from the Kryptonite and radiation.

Lex stood up and walked out of the cell “It’s your turn Grodd, hopefully Brainiac’s amplifier works.” Grodd walks in the cell holding a helmet that amplifies his psychic powers. “Luthor you knew he wouldn’t talk, why did you waste our time?” Grodd said as he put on his helmet. “I’ve been wanting to do that for years, and it looks like I’ll never be able to again.” Luthor said wiping blood off of himself. Grodd stood over Superman with his hands on his head. He probed Superman’s mind searching for what Luthor wanted. It was harder to enter than Grodd thought, Superman was extremely strong willed. Eventually Grodd left the cell with the knowledge “in hand” so to speak. “I know where it is.” Luthor smiled malevolently and replied “Excellent.”

Hal Jordan was desperate. He had contacted Oa to see if they had any knowledge of this barrier, unfortunately it appeared that even the Guardians of the Universe’s knowledge had its limits. Hal was running out of options when he received a communication from Batman.

Batman had been using all available recourses to try and reach the signal that was off world. He knew it had to be the Green Lantern. Finally he was able to break through the jamming. He told Hal the situation up to that point. Hal told Batman that some kind of barrier was keeping him from entering the atmosphere. Batman told Hal his plan, and that Hal should wait until he receives a signal.
“What kind of signal?” Hal asked sounding frustrated. “Trust me, if I’m right you’ll know.” Batman hung up before Hal could respond.

Aquaman was in bad shape to say the least, the salt water I.V. was helping him heal, but not fast enough. He heard a frantic beeping from the cockpit, and Green Arrow saying “There is something approaching us quickly, and it looks like, Superman?” he said with confusion. Aquaman next heard Black Canary say “I thought Batman said Superman was captured, and why is he wearing yellow.” Aquaman felt the jet suddenly move in another direction as Oliver avoided the obviously fake Superman. He felt the jet take a series of impacts from the fake Superman. He heard Queen utter a curse and Canary say “Ollie I thought you said this thing was fast, how come we’re getting hit! Are there any weapons on this thing?” “No! And quit back seat driving.” Aquaman heard Queen respond. Aquaman looked over and saw Wonder Woman, unconscious having been heavily sedated by Black Canary, so the antitoxins could do their work. Aquaman felt the jet take another hit as the fake Superman continued to fire at them. He walked over to the viewport of the jet, the I.V. falling out of his arm as he did. He saw that they were over an ocean now, moving at incredible speeds, he saw that the Superman robot was just below the boarding ramp, preparing to attack again. Aquaman saw a spare quiver of the Green Arrow near him, he reached in looking for an arrow that didn’t have a buzz saw, or a boxing glove on it, he didn’t need something that stuns he was Arthur king of Atlantis, and he needed something lethal. He found it, an arrow with an extremely long blade on it. Aquaman hit a button that read “Hatch Release”. The hatch opened and he leapt out. He felt like he was flying, and for a moment as he fell it seemed as though time had stopped. He landed on the fake Superman’s back, and wrapped his legs around its waist, securing himself. The robot, feeling him, turned its head around 180 degrees. Aquaman watched with disgust as its eyes glowed red. He looked at it and lashed out savagely with all of his strength stabbing it in the eye. Its eye began to spark, he stabbed it again and again, and finally he decapitated it. He noticed that they were falling at an incredible speed towards his home, the ocean. He pushed off of the robot and dove into the water, as it exploded above him!

“Damn it Ollie, I don’t see him!” Canary said frantically, as Green Arrow brought the Javelin lower near the water, looking for Aquaman. “What are you worrying about, him drowning? He’s Aquaman remember.” Arrow said sarcasticly. Suddenly Aquaman burst forth out of the water to land on the open ramp on the ship. “See what I tell ya.” Arrow said as he closed the ramp, and sped off towards the Watchtower to meet Batman.

Batman was speeding through the skies toward Metropolis in the Bat-wing. He had received a communication from the Flash. The Flash had been able to accomplish him mission and was going to meet them at the Watchtower. Batman hoped that the preparations he was making would work.

Lex Luthor, Brainiac and Bizarro exited a portal created by Brainiac. Luthor looked at the marvel before him, a gigantic crystaline structure, an heirloom from a forgotten world. Brainiac approached him "We must hurry Luthor. If I am correct, only one sharing Kal-El's genetic code can enter the Fortress. Luthor directed Bizarro to open the fortress. Luthor smiled as the Fortress opened revealing its trove of technological treasures.

Flash meanwhile had arrived at the Watchtower.

He entered it to search for J’onn the Martian Manhunter. Flash sped through every room trying to find some trace of J’onn. Flash finally found J’onn in the communication room, frozen solid in a sheet of ice at absolute zero. Flash knew instantly that this was the work of only one man, Captain Cold. Flash also saw something else in the room, a cryogenic bomb. Flash new from previous dealings with Cold that this device, though the size of a football, was powerful enough to freeze half of Metropolis! Flash saw that the timer on it, had only 1 second remaining! Without hesitation the fastest man alive grabbed the device and sped away as fast as he could. Everything seemed to be at a standstill, as the Flash ran as fast and as hard as he could. He raced several miles outside of the city and threw the bomb into the air. Flash is smarter than most people think, he knew that inertia and momentum would allow the bomb to travel at a fast enough speed so that it would detonate in a high altitude. The bomb exploded dramatically in the air causing snow and ice to rain down dramatically. Flash sped back to the Watchtower to free J’onn. Flash new from experience how to defrost J’onn. By the time he had J’onn completely defrosted the others had begun to arrive.

The Javelin landed on top of the Watchtower at its landing pad. Dinah and Oliver immediately took Wonder Woman to the infirmary for antitoxins. Aquaman left the Javelin after them. As he prepared to enter the Watchtower he heard the roar of engines. He turned and saw the Bat-wing settled down for a landing. After Batman had exited the Bat-wing, he motioned for Aquaman to wait for a moment. Aquaman stood and heard the sounds of helicopter blades. A short time later a helicopter touched down. Two beings disembarked, One with wings, the other with lightning. “Aquaman.” Batman said, “I believe you know Hawkman, and Black Lightning.”

Why has Batman brought Black Lightning and Hawkman to the Watchtower?
What is Lex Luthor after in the Fortress of Solitude?
Who is behind the Legion of Doom?
Find out next time in what is hopefully the stunning conclusion to this tale.

Well thanks for reading if you've gotten this far. This part delved a bit deeper into the motives behind the Legion, and gave us a glimpse of what Luthor's overall plan may be. It also introduced two more heroes, Hawkman and Black Lightning. there are a couple of reasons that I included them in the League, I can only reveal one right now. I included them because that is as close as i can come to recreating the Justice League from Challenge of the Superfriends.

The original team from the show was Superman, Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkman, Black Vulcan, Apache Chief, and Samurai. I decided not to include Robin at the moment for several reasons. (he was in the original, voiced by Casey Casem I believe) Black Vulcan was based off of Black Lightning, so I figured I could use him, he also has an important role in things to come. Samurai, and Apache Chief are not actual DC characters, they were simply created for the show, and were unfortunately not based on actual characters that I could find. To replace them I added two League alumni, Green Arrow and Black Canary. Well I hope you enjoy the story, and hopefully part three will sum everything up nicely. And if you figured out who the person behind the Legion is, don't tell anyone, let it be a surprise. Otherwise please post if you wish, let me hear your feed back, good or bad. Thanks.

I tried to post a comment earlier today but for some reason it did not post. I like it alot, and I think this would be a wonderful idea for a DC animated movie. I think it would work better for an animated movie than a live-action movie due to so many characters. With so many characters it is harder to give everyone enough screentime to give a background and in-depth on there personalities that live-action movies demand for wider audiences. Keep up the good work and can't wait to read the finale.

Thanks, glad you liked it. Finale is taking longer than expected, lot more is needed than I thought. And I agree this would be a great animated movie. One reason would be that the casting buget alone would be outrageous, 10 heros and 13 villains. WB would probably cut back on the effects budget. Maybe one day the Legion will be live action though.

Oh, I forgot to mention, this would be the sequel to the first Justice League movie.
