A Transformers Vidgame Not Based on the Movies?

Activision's next big game may have an original story...

It seems that no matter how good the Transformers movie games are, they'll always be flawed by the fact they're based on the movies, their constrained by the boundaries of the films storyline. But what about a game not based on the movies?

Activision is working on a Transformers game due for release in 2010. Which makes sense, since they like to exploit their franchises, and exploit them annually.

But there's no Transformers movie due in 2010. Which means the game - apparently being worked on by Activision's newly acquired High Moon studios, the team behind the Bourne Conspiracy game - won't be based on either of the movies.

Which could be good! It could mean High Moon will be given the freedom to come up with their own levels and design decisions. It could also mean that, without a movie to cash in on, they could go and make a Transformers game based on, oh, Gen 1. Or the original film. Or even Beast Wars.

Perhaps if they release a video game based on G1 continuity and storyline, they may also finally re-release G1 on dvd! I don't have it and that drives me nuts!

I really hope that they make this into a fighting game,IDK why but I really want to play a Transformers Fighting game than a full fledged adventure. They could have the physic engine for MK vs DC and Have Charecters from evry series, tier ,gen,or whatever. And they could have a Campeign in the vain of MK vs DC.

I would like to see another Beast Wars game the first one was horrible, I loved Beast Wars I got up early every morning just to watch it, it was on at like 6am, also i own the whole series and have watched it quite a few times.

A Gen 1 game would also be amazing there isn't as much plot as Beast Wars but there is so much story through out the series they could pull it off.

The only thing about doing this is it is really hard to make a game based on transformers they have tried multiple times (some never even getting released) and the only one i really liked was the one based on Transformers Armada, (the 2004 game) the one based off the first movie was pretty meh i liked how hard it got but the controls were pretty bad compared to the Armada game, the rotf game looks promising but wont know till it comes out.

I'd love to see a Beast Wars game using today's technology/graphics. I'm picturing a Transmetal 2 Cheetor just rippin' across a flat plain with his rocket on his back propelling him... the scenery flying by so fast it's almost like a blur... that would be awesome :)

$70 bucks an episode?!?! No thank you. Will wait for re-release. I can be an impulse shopper like rest of them, but I will be miserly here.

What does this mean?

"no matter how good the Transformers movie games are"

Are you joking? The TF movie games are low-budget, 10-years-dated, rush jobs with terrible graphics, terrible controls and terrible gameplay. These are only made because they share the same name as the movie and sell through brand recognition ripping people off.

The same with Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk and next week's X-Men Origins: Wolverine game. They all are terrible.

Well rkeyes, a lot of people actually liked the last Transformers game. And as for the controls, the PSP version sucked, but the Wii version had pretty user friendly controls.
