Deadline Hollywood is reporting a record breaking night for The Walking Dead:

In adults 18-49, Walking Dead garnered 3.6 million viewers to become the highest-rated cable series premiere in 2010. In addition to the original 10 PM airing, AMC re-ran the Walking Dead pilot at 11:30 PM and 1 AM for a cumulative audience of 8.1 million viewers. “It’s a good day to be dead," said AMC president Charlie Collier "We are so proud of this series, its depth of storytelling and the remarkable talent attached.”

Great news for the guys over at AMC. The show was amazing and definitely deserved to draw such large audience share.

The wife and I watched this last night to kick off our honeymoon! We're both huge fans of the comic and we absolutely LOVED the series premiere and can't wait for the next ones! Due to the huge ratings, this should assure more seasons being greenlit. Hopefully.

The horse dies in the book too. I was glad to see them keep that in the show.

Goddamn. Is there nothing that Frank Darabont can't do? This was one of the best pilots i've ever seen for a t.v. show. I hope everyone involved keeps up the good work, because this show is truly a breakthrough in horror/television.

I may be crucified for this, but the premiere was actually better than the first issue of the comic book (which I think is great). They added more stuff to the story. Hope they keep it up!

the show is fawkin sweet even though i only saw half. i'm seeing the other half when i get home. its gorey and dramatic the way a zombie movie should be. zombie movies use to scare me as a kid. they still kinda do. i even had a dream (not really a nightmare since i don't scare so easy) of zombies the first night i watched it. but i love it. here's to more episodes and hopefully more seasons. eat your heart out Resident Evil
