Spider-Man Returns to Macy’s Parade

After a 10 year respite Marvel’s friendly, neighborhood web-slinger is returning to New York.

Watching Spider-Man flying over the streets of Manhattan was one of the highlights of my youth, even if he was just a balloon. From 1987 to 1998 the iconic balloon, designed by John Romita Sr., captivated the hearts and minds young and old alike. And on November 26, 2009, millions of fans will feel their Spider-senses tingling with the return of our favorite addition to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

“Spider-Man’s return to the Macy’s Balloon line-up this year is an event of seismic magnitude,” says Robin Hall, executive producer of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. “When is Spider-man coming back? is a question that has been shouted from the sidelines each and every year we inflate our helium giants on Thanksgiving eve.”

The new Spider-Man balloon debuting this year will combine the classic pose – outstretched arms and bent legs (his ‘wall-crawling’ style) – with an updated suit, defined contours and his signature web-shooting hand pose.

Simon Philips, President of Worldwide Consumer Products for Marvel Entertainment, said: “We couldn’t be more excited to bring Spider-Man back to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, a landmark event that millions anticipate each year. The enduring popularity of New York’s own friendly neighborhood Super Hero has only grown since the last time he appeared in the Parade and we are certain the new Spider-Man balloon will delight both long-time fans and new audiences alike,"

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade garners over 50 million viewers and around 3.5 million spectators who line the streets of New York City, ready to usher in the holiday season.

Aww man. I was hoping I wouldn't have to see the Spider-Man balloon at the Macy’s Day Parade. He's always trying to fondle little kids.

BmanHall - 10/9/2009, 9:44 AM
I can't wait for the spidy balloon to terrorize the streets again, my fondest thanksgiving memories are of him crashing into light posts during the parade.
thwhtGuardian - 10/9/2009, 10:52 AM
@Bman: He told me he was digging in my pockets for spare change :(

@thwhtknight: He was zoning in on the Goblin, and those damn civilians wouldn't let go of the ropes!

thwhtGuardian - 10/9/2009, 7:41 PM
@thwhtknight: Spider-Man doesn't, but Peter Parker blew me for a 10 spot last St. Patty's Day. He kept mumbling something about a broken camera. .
MultiPurposePoni - 10/9/2009, 8:45 PM
poor guy, he lives for that camera
thwhtGuardian - 10/9/2009, 10:08 PM

@whtGuardian: He's an idiot. How many accounts has he set up now, like 3? He just wants attention.
MultiPurposePoni - 10/10/2009, 6:42 PM
FYI peoples, ProgramResurrected was MyProgram AND Resurrection, and several other Trolls besides. Keep your eyes open for him and be sure to let me know if he comes back to pull crap--so I can keep deleting his accounts.

MultiPurposePoni - 10/10/2009, 7:53 PM
CBM... are you able to block his IP address from making accounts at this site. Just a thought.
KeepItReal - 10/10/2009, 8:41 PM
@KIR: Unfortunately I doubt it. Blocking an IP costs $$$. That POS isn't worth anyone's time or money. Besides, it'll be more fun to keep kicking him out like a stray dog ;)
MultiPurposePoni - 10/10/2009, 9:30 PM
thats too bad. we dont need his kind here.

PRogram needs to be DELETED once and for all! ban his articles, his comments, anything related to him. When he posts an article show your support by not posting there yourself.

Why are his articles still listed? But more importantly why are people who were so outraged few minutes earlier leaving comments on his articles now like nothing? They need to show unity and not send mixed messages. Denouncing him on one page and then socializing on another is contradictory and a bit hypocritical imho.
KeepItReal - 10/10/2009, 9:57 PM
Yeah!

. . . what she said
MultiPurposePoni - 10/10/2009, 10:18 PM
