Clive Owen Addresses Spider-Man Rumors

The actor has been linked as being the top contender for the role of Kraven the Hunter in the next Spider-Man installment, but what does he have to say about it?

It is still unclear which villains James Vanderbilt wrote into his Spider-Man script. Clearly, the fan favorite villains for the recently canceled Spider-Man 4 Dr. Curt Connors/the Lizard and Sergei Kravinoff/Kraven the Hunter. Now, it appears Sony is making an attempt to give the fans a little of what they asked for in the rebooted franchise.

Apparently, the latest rumor links actor Clive Owen to the role of Kraven. The Coventry Telegraph recently caught up with Owen and asked if he was officially cast for the role.

He said, ""That's the first I've heard. My [daughters] would like me to do it though."

When questioned as to whether this would classify as his 'dream role', Owen remarked:

"I've never had [a dream role], I just take it as it comes. I'm always excited by the idea that the next one could be a gem or something that sets me on fire."

MPP - Well, it sure does sound like he's had some discussions with Sony about the role if he's already talked to his family about the possibility. I think it would almost be a waste to use him for Kraven when he would be the perfect Magneto. What do you guys think, would he fit the part of Kraven?

I'm not really a fan of Clive Owen so I cant say that I'd really want to see him in the role! Besides, Gerard Butler is a much better choice! :)

GERARD BUTLER FOR KRAVEN THE HUNTER!!! CLIVE OWEN FOR JOHNNY BLAZE/GHOST RIDER!!!

Multi- HA!!! Good one LOL :P But don't get me wrong, an actor of Clive's caliber would be nothing short of AWESOME for Spidey's new franchise! I just don't think he should be the first main villain though. He would have been the perfect follow up villain along side Lizard in Raimi's run but not the reboot. I'm not gonna bitch one bit if Clive gets this, HE'S AWESOME :))

And the pic you posted of Kraven looking through his scope actually... kinda... looks like you, Multi. That's weird!

Sorry Lee, I think Clive Owen's facial structure is much more suitable for Kraven than Butler's is. With a mustache and goatee I think it would be even more evident. He also has the piercing eyes that make for a good Kraven.

Ranger14 @ This is OWEN, YOUNG MAGS, he was born for tha role! ; P

Ranger14- Actually, with facial hair, Gerard looks EXACTLY like Kraven! And you can't get a more piercing gaze than this:

Clive Owen could play any number of comic book characters but he is only perfect for one.

anyone with a good russian accent is fine by me. but i don;t think they should do kraven frist. but it's ok if they do as long as they drop the origin. i have no interest in seeing that origin done yet again.

we all know what he can do already "spider-man - spider-man - does whatever a spider can - " so as long as they have him webbing up crooks and sucking out thier innards for sustinance i'll be good.

they need to go with Oded Fehr for Kraven. it would be a smart move budget wise, he can get the accent down and plus he's the spitting image of what Kraven should look like on screen. but it's too early to bring Kraven in just for the first installment. they need to stick with the classics. i honestly think they should start off big and use a villain that could be in a few Spidey flicks so i would rather go with Kingpin. also to set up the Sinister 6 much later on Kingpin would be a good start. we could see bank robbers and Kingpin's goons trying to take over New York but of course Spidey saves the day.

It's funny how people see things differently. Kraven's illustrations show him to have a pretty chiseled and rectangular shape to his face. Butler has more rounded lower cheekbones and upper jawline that throw it off for me. It's very evident in the photo josh24 posted...to me anyway. lol

Multi- Actually, i don't remember for which role but Tyler got one! He had fan cast the actor a long time before he was announced as the very role. Sometimes, it happens.

Clive Owen would be an interesting choice for Kraven. I'm down!

More importantly Emile Hirsch must and I mean "must" play Spiderman.

There is no other choice in my humble opinion.

Clive Owen has the most boring voice in Hollywood, more boring than Ben Stein.

Clive Owen would be perfect for Magneto, but he should be saved for a Major character if he's ever in a CBM, and Kraven is not that IMO. I think Butler would be a better fit for Kraven. But he needs to work on his English or make Kraven Scottish or what ever Butler is cause he "american" accent is truly garabage.

I always thought he would make a great Daredevil. But his American accent is just a little off at times. If they ever make another(faithful) Hellblazer movie, he would be awesome as John Constantine.

@bropus..I definitely agree I would rather see Clive Owens playing a good guy as opposed to a villain. Glad I am not the only one who liked Children of Men.

Clive Owen is one of those actors who could actually play multiple parts and be damn good at. I think he'd make a great Kraven. I'm not huge on him playing Magneto, but the idea is growing on me.

@icebergslick: Gerard can barely hold is brogue. He made Leonidas into an Irishman. Have you seen "Gamer"? I mean, he's a great actor, don't get me wrong, but he's just not right for Kraven. Given, he would look kool as him, he's still not a great pick.
