Who is Nick Jones?

Exclusive Set Photo Update! And why is he in New Orleans on the set of Green Lantern? Follow the jump to see what I've found...

It is time, yet again, for some good old ComicBookMovie.com investigative work; or as I call it, Operation: Speculation. Let’s get the facts straight first:

- Martin Campbell’s Green Lantern began principal photography yesterday at a bar in New Orleans. Thanks to our own CBM scooper Kenny, we’ve seen the first set pictures of Ryan Reynolds /Hal Jordan possibly wearing his Green Lantern ring.

- There are only two bars referenced in Hal Jordan’s origin stories. One, in Emerald Dawn, shows Ferris Aircraft employee Hal sitting with coworkers having a few drinks. The second (and most recent), in Secret Origins, shows Air Force pilot Hal having a confrontation with a Marine by the name of John Stewart.

Now, on to the fun part. Nick Jones is a former Marine who is currently an actor and model. He has a yet to be disclosed role in the Green Lantern film. I’ve followed him on Twitter over the past few days, but only today made contact with him. Here are the relevant tweets for your viewing pleasure (read it bottom to top for chronological order):

Can you see where I’m heading with this yet? Maybe I can make the association a bit clearer. . .

My educated guess is that Nick Jones' small role in Green Lantern is the Jon Stewart cameo fans have asked for.

John Stewart, an architect and Marine before joining the Green Lantern Corps, has been a fan favorite Lantern for many years and has been featured in several DC animated cartoons.

I now pose the question to you all; could Nick Jones be our feature film John Stewart? And if so, do you see Stewart having a larger role in the Green Lantern sequel? You know the drill, Confirm or Debunk below!

	Makes sense. It would be really cool if that is who he is playing in the movie. Stewart is actually my favorite GL (sorry guys, but I always felt that Jordan was a bit too deuchy for my taste)and I hope that if he is in the movie, he ends up coming back in the sequel as a member of the GL Corps. 	Deffo a possibility. But if he doesn't have a name yet it could just be a random marine..unless they intentionally don't name him in the movie but it is supposed to be Stewart. 	the guy definitely resembles john stewart, a little bit younger version. Have to see if he can actually act, though. 	BlackAirs87 - I guess you can look at it that way. They both took over the role of superhero for the original at one point or another. IMO though, he turned out to be a more reliable and responsible hero that Jordan ever was. Come to think of it, I guess Rhodes did also. 	you know it feels like we heard about all the other marvel movies: Cappy, the Merc with a mouth, and well i know thor is in production... but it seems like they really got on the ball quick with GL. 	too early to say.... I guess for a first film they are putting him in to sort of flush out the books... But if down the line ..say GL3 they decide to create a different one Id bet they audition for more actors vs a new one. 	Great work MULTI! Wouldnt this be a fairly major role in a sequel though? I doubt they'd go for an unknown for a part like that but I'd say that it's more than likely they'd include him just as a cameo for fans! Plus, if it's just a cameo they could always recast the character if they decided to focus more on Stewart in future movies. 	@MsKyle I would go as far to say Knightley is a very good to great actor. Have you seen Domino, Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, not to mention a number of other movies she has been in? 	first off(I have to put this on every GL movie post)Ryan Reynolds should NOT be playing this role. 	JiMb0: I get the same vibe from these pics. Now, honestly, I've never seen set pics with Ryan Reynolds, so I don't know how he normally prepares for roles. But he DOES look VERY serious and VERY focused. And I know N'Wawlins well enough to know it's a few weeks yet before the nasty heat kicks in so it's not the weather. No, what we MAY be seeing is the "Robert Downey Jr/Tony Stark" effect. I think that Ryan is putting himself FULLY into this film, knowing that it could end up making, or breaking his career. I think the Green Lantern suit and the entire breadth of the Green Lantern saga, matched with the vehemence of the fanboy base, that is causing his intense focus on making Hal Jordan come to life. 	This particular DC story should be able to have at least 2 other sequels as long as the acting is ligit. It already has great material as long as the writers stick to the comic.
