During today's bi-monthly visit between Comic Book Resources and superstar writer Geoff Johns, the future of DC's cinematic universe was inevitably brought up. When asked how quickly he was planning on putting together a slate/time line of comic movies (in an effort to take the limelight away from Marvel, no less), Johns said,
"I can't get into the exact DC slate right now, but we're all working heavily on what that is with Warner Bros. and there will be news forthcoming. But, you can bet there is going to be a lot more than there is right now."
The
Green Lantern movie, currently filming in New Orleans, LA, was the next topic briefly touched upon. Since Johns has already made a few set visits, he was asked what he thought of the overall progress of the film and his impression of Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan:
"The movie looks fantastic. I'm heading back down to New Orleans in a few weeks, but I just watched the Abin Sur/Hal Jordan dailies, and it's amazing seeing that ring passed to Hal in live action. Abin Sur looks kick-ass."
[The first image of Abin Sur's ship was
revealed here last week. The filming took place in Madisonville, LA between Monday, April 4th, and Thursday, April 8th.]
"They did such a great job. They've got Grant [Major] as a production designer. He's from 'Lord of the Rings,' and the visuals on this film are nothing like you could imagine. It's definitely a Green Lantern fan's dream. For me, it's kind of insane to see this stuff come to life.
"And Ryan Reynolds is a perfect Hal Jordan. He brings a lot of humor to it, but he also has the humanity that Hal has. And a little bit of the arrogance, so it's a great match. "
If Johns likes how the dallies are coming along, it may not be too far of a stretch to expect a teaser trailer put together exclusively for this year's San Diego Comic Con at the end of July.
