EXCLUSIVE: Official Thor Movie Logo Possibly Revealed

A reliable source has just sent me what appears to be the logo for Marvel Studios' highly anticipated comic adaptation Thor, follow the jump to check it out...

Just like the teaser says, I received this image today from a source who has been consistently reliable in providing valid updates on Marvel Studios projects. It appears to be the logo for the Thor movie, starring Chris Hemsworth and Anthony Hopkins, which is due out in theaters May 6th, 2011:

[Enlarged]

The design for this logo has a heavy spacial influence, which does fall into line with the galactic undertone of the film that Kevin Feige has commented on, as opposed to the Nordic-style lettering usually associated with Thor comics. But what really caught my eye was the resemblance of the lettering's texture to the texture of Thor's Uru-metal hammer, Mjolnir, which was seen at the end of Iron Man 2.

Hopefully someone at Marvel Studios can either confirm or deny the validity of this image, and eager fans won't have to wait until San Diego Comic Con this

Probably just a concept piece. I mean the obvious thing is to put a lightning bolt, not purple space clouds.

It's too purple for Thor.. Then again from what I hear this movie has a Cosmic feel to it, and that looks about right for the Cosmos.

11 months away and only one official image? C'MON, MARVEL!
That logo looks good but Freshman's version is more consistent.

What really sucks is that Marvel hasn't released many pictures for Thor, after all of this time. I mean, what the hell Marvel?

i think the reason we havent gotten alot from marvel from thor is because there main vocus as been iron man 2, im sure now that iron man 2 has hit theaters we will start to see more and more from thor, at lest thats my theory

Very simple design. I quite like it, though from what I can tell, the spatial design at the bottom doesn't have much detail. I suppose we'll find out at SDCC.

Yeah, Iron Man 2's been out for a while though. The most we've gotten from this movie that's been from Marvel was that half shot of Thor. It's getting on my nerves that I've been waiting all this time for more images, that's all.

What's the issue with purple. Purple is known as a regal color. Also, if you look at photos of storms and lightning you will see the presence of purple in the sky and in lightning quite frequently. I am fine with the colors.
