As many fans are already aware, production of Martin Campbell's
Green Lantern has taken place throughout the New Orleans, Louisiana, area since mid March. Lakeside Airport, the University of New Orleans and the Riverfront Convention areas are only a handful of the locations that have been used to date. Over the past few days, the production crew have revisited the Seabrook Bridge to film a large-scale stunt scene. Thanks to
CBM Scooper Mark, we have a peak of the stunt crew setting up for the shoot under the bridge. I've been told that the crane rig mounted on the vehicle is known as the "Ultimate Arm," and is made so the camera car can operate at speeds up to 90 miles per hour:
Supposedly, the secretive scene involves an altercation between the film's ring slinging protagonist Hal Jordan (portrayed by Ryan Reynolds) and one of the film's villains. The Seabrook Bridge, also known as the Senator Ted Hickey Bridge, is a four-lane roadway which carries one of the city's main, waterfront thoroughfares, Lakeshore Drive, and connects Leon C. Simon Drive on the upper side with Hayne Boulevard on the lower.
Green Lantern will continue filming in the New Orleans area through August, 2010. The film stars Ryan Reynolds, Mark Strong, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Temuera Morrison and Tim Robbins. It is scheduled for theatrical release June 17th, 2011.
