Spider-Man Has Web Shooters?

Spider-Man Has Web Shooters?

Thanks to the folks over at COLLIDER, we now have a far better view of what many of us thought were web shooters on the wrists of the first image of Andrew Garfield in the upcoming Spider-Man.

Looking at the photo below it sure seems pretty clear that Spidey will be sporting his patented mechanical web shooters in the upcoming Marc Webb directed Spider Man film. While many in the past have complained about Raimi's "organic" web shooters, many have already expressed their disdain for the original version saying that it's not very believable that a teenager could concoct them in his basement.

What do you think?

Why not! This is re-boot isn't it? Whatever Webb's decisions are, there will always be controversy. Let Parker be a brainiac... that just adds to his uniqueness.even though I enjoyed Raimi's angle for the most part, I'm ready for a different take!
Nuff Said!

Sh1T the other one I commented on has just vanished?

Can't say I'm happy with the TV look of the suit not a patch on RAIMI's costume at all!

But hopefully this wont tun into Twilight and be a good movie!

Good to see you agree with me about the suit LEE - although Garfield is a much better build for Spider-Man than Maguire was, the suit is nowhere near as good. Some minor changes to distinguish it would have been fine, but the complete redesign is totally unnecessary and the lack of belt makes it look really ugly IMO. :)

Great article by the way TIT - it's onlt the awesome symbol on his chest and those web shooters that have stopped me from going into a completely crazy fanboy rant about this new suit design! That and the fact I'll need to see the mask before making a final judgement.

It's so believable that a teenager can gain the powers of a spider.

@jduke25: I get the whole home made look your trying to go for but c'mon that mask looks like it could be used for a South Park parody.

peter parker is a genius only a few levels below reed richards. why WOULDN'T be able to invent a super powerful adhesive?
golden123
golden123 - 1/13/2011, 5:14 PM
@spiderneil: Reed Richards is an adult who went through college and actually has the money to create what he creates. Peter is a high school student when he creates this and doesn't have the expierence that Reed has. That makes a whole lot of a difference

I always hated the concept of those silly little web-shooters.

First of all - he's SPIDER-man - he's supposed to have powers of a spider. The more obvious powers of a spider being able to cling to surfaces and produce webbing.

Take away the webbing and you are left with "Sticky-man".

Regardless of all that, teams of scientists have been trying for years to create a man-made version of spider silk. There is no way some kid, fresh out of high school (or whatever), would figure it out first, let alone get his hands on the materials needed to mass produce it.

All-in-all the web shooters are stupid, and completely unecessary!

As for the suit, yeah it looks home-made, I can imagine it being something like the first suit made (like in the first movie where he was in a cage fight).

Khopesh
Khopesh - 1/13/2011, 5:36 PM
Oh, and he would realistically need a backpack full of the material in order to swing around the city.

The amount stored in wrist bands wouldn't be enough to get him to the end of his street.
parascythe
parascythe - 1/13/2011, 5:40 PM
the problem with web shooters is that...if he holds or grip onto something the web shooter will start shooting...dont ya think?
SageMode
SageMode - 1/13/2011, 5:55 PM
@parascythe: it requires a certain amount of pressure to shoot from the web shooters, so that he does accidentally shoot webs when he's makin a fist or grabbing somethin.
