Agent Coulson. Skrull? Vision? Or just regular agent of S.H.I.E.L.D?

As many of you are aware Agent Coulson is a character in the Avengers film universe. He is not an original character taken from the comics and has appeared in both Iron Man films, Thor and is to appear in the Avengers.
Now here are the things we know about Agent Coulson. His name is Phil Coulson. He is an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D and he was a recruiter on the Avenger Initiative. However there have been some speculation on a few things. First, people have been hearing the rumors that the Skrulls may be in the Avengers and he may even be one. Personally I hope he's not a Skrull but that's just me.
Secondly people have been thinking about his position and attitude and think he may be a well known Avenger himself. Yes, it has been rumored that Agent Coulson may in fact be the Vision in disguise. I think this would be amazing however let me put these rumors to rest. In Thor Agent Coulson encounters the Destroyer which attacks him and a few other S.H.I.E.L.D agents out in the desert and he did not turn into the Vision then to save the day so this leads me to believe he is not the Vision.
But his character does share the Vision's calculating attitude and I believe (and this is just a guess)that he will have his conciousness restored in the Vision android body after he is killed. Thus adding a great character while keeping the old one. Then again we could all be making something out of nothing and Agent Coulson could just be a regular, old S.H.I.E.L.D agent.
Joss Whedon also gave information that states that the Vision will be hinted at in the Avengers along with Black Panther and may appear in an Avengers sequal. Whedon also went onto say that if they do make the Vision appear in a sequal he will be created by Tony Stark and a group of scientists, not Ultron. Please remember I am only the pervaier of news with the slight additon of my opinion.

he kinda acts like Vision, but no way he is Vision.
I like your idea thou, having him killed at some point and then put his mind into the Vision's body

It would be cool if he turned out to be Vision. That would surely be an M. Night type of plot twist.

Would be an interesting twist but he's just a SHIELD agent.

I must have missed the speculation on him being the vision. Don't think that is a good idea at all. Skrull . . . it could work but I'm not feeling the vibe that they might be going that direction.

Plus if that last idea about coulson restored in the vision body happened that would be a total diss against the Wonder Man dynamic and then what happens with the Reaper?

Hmmm. I'm just not seeing him as anything besides the general embodiment of SHIELD personnel.

Killing him and bringing him back as vision would be pointless not to mention a GIANT cop-out.

^I didn't get that part either. Why would Vision's first appearance be as a hero? The whole point of Vision is that he is a pawn of Ultron who overcame his programming and chose his own path-that of a hero.

I never cared about this guy tbh.

Of course it was Thor's movie but it doesn't excuse that in a theoretical sense he should have become the Vision then, duh

But Clark Gregg gave hints to both sides of this story and that there could be Vision involvment somehwere and Joss Whedon gave reason to bvelieve that Ultron was NOT in fact the one to be creating the Vision in the film universe

The Vision idea is great. But there is undoubtedly a chance that someone at Marvel will see this, they are nerds after all, so it'll never happen simply because they didn't think of it.

Actually there is something suggested in IM and THOR to suggest that he might be THE VISION. In IM when the Iron Monger goes on a rampage against the SHILED agents, Coulson is there but we never see what happens and later Coulson turns up unharmed. In THOR the destroeyr goes on a rampage against SHILED agents, again Coulson is there, agaiun we never see what happens, and again Coulson later turns up unharmed.

Could it be that Coulson is escaping these conflicts unharmed because he turns intangible?!?!?

sorry it might be a shocking twist but its one of the biggest cop outs if its true instead spending there time developing all the linking stories that are associated with the vision e.g Ultron being the creator, it's lazy. The Green Lantern movie had what is possibly the biggest cop-out i have ever seen, they jumped straight to Sinestro being evil with out developing the character and showing his downfall. This has the potential to top that if its true. So no offence I don't think its a great idea.

CBK - 8/7/2011, 10:12 AM
@Hellsing I can assure you that Sinestro will not be immediately evil in the sequel to GL. They wouldn't just skip his downfall, the teaser on the end was just that: a teaser.

@Hellsing- Personally what i found lazy about the GL film was how they handled Paralax and Krona.

When I first heard that hammond, paralax AND krona were all going to be in the film i was like "right on! 3 villains in 1 movie i wonder how they'll pull it off?" Then i saw it...they simply merged Krona with Paralax while barely even giving Krona an ounce of screentime.

but i also agree with you on the Sinestro front. I wish he had more screen-time but hey...there's always the sequel.

Bearjew
Bearjew - 8/7/2011, 12:31 PM
I know that was ridiculous! I mean Krona is NOT Parralax in and of himself they are different and they deserve seperate areas of screen time or at least save Krona for a sequal

CorndogBurglar - 8/8/2011, 6:02 AM
The Skrull idea would be the best one.

The Vision? come on now...

Also, an LMD? lol, even if he was an LMD, that would mean there's still an actual living, breathing Agent Coulson somewhere.
Bearjew
Bearjew - 8/8/2011, 1:52 PM
Yeah he could be taken by the Skrulls and replaced by an LMD
