Fancast: Daredevil

Check out my cast for the Man without Fear!

First off, I've seen the 2003 Daredevil movie and I have to say that I'm not a big fan of it. Daredevil, Elektra, and Kingpin were terrible miscasts and I think it was a poor adaptation of Frank Miller's run on the comic. However, I did enjoy Colin Farrell's portrayal of Bullseye. He nailed the psychotic part of Bullseye down.

Anyway, my choice for director for a Daredevil film would have to be David Fincher. His films are full of dark material that are perfect for Daredevil. Se7en comes to mind when I think of his take on Hornhead.

Anyway, here's the cast:

Alex O'Loughin (Moonlight, Hawaii Five-0) as Matt Murdock: An attorney who was blinded by a radioactive substance falling from a truck. Although he lost his sight, Matt's senses were heighten to a superhuman level. After his father's death, he used his new abilities to become the vigilante Daredevil. Daredevil posses a radar sense similar to echolocation, and can use his superhuman hearing as a lie detector by listening to change's in people's heartbeats. Daredevil is also a master of martial arts and uses a specially designed Billy Club that includes a thirty feet of cable connected to a steel cased grapple.

Reason for Casting: Being a fan of the new Hawaii Five-0, I can say that O'Loughin has become one of favorite actors. He's versatile and has the talent to portray Daredevil. He also posses two important factors for DD: the voice and the rugged handsome looks.

Joel Edgerton (Animal Kingdom, Warrior) as "Battlin' Jack" Murdock: Matt's father, who was a famous boxer and always wanted his son to be a better man than he was. He encouraged Matt to study than rather fight like him. Jack was murdered after refusing to throw a fight, which int turn inspired Matt to become Daredevil.

Reason for Casting: I'm solely basing this casting on Edgerton's performance in Warrior. He was great there and would be awesome as DD's father. Edgerton would only appear in flashbacks when Matt is younger.

Scott Caan (Varsity Blues, Hawaii Five-0) as Franklin "Foggy" Nelson: Matt's college roommate and best friend, who together found the law firm Nelson & Murdock.

Reason for Casting: Caan and O'Loughin both have great chemistry together on Five-0, and I think that chemistry would transfer well to Foggy and Matt.

Abbie Cornish (Candy, Sucker Punch) as Karen Page: Matt and Foggy's secretary, who both men are in love with. Karen later leaves New York and became addicted to Heroin. In need of a fix, she sold Daredevil's secret identity to a drug dealer.

Reason for Casting: Cornish played a similar role to Karen in Candy: an innocent girl turned into a drug addict. She gave a great performance there and I think she would be great as Karen.

Christopher Lambert (Highlander, Mortal Kombat) as Stick: A blind ninja sensei who trained Matt in the use of Martial Arts after his accident.

Reason for Casting: I decided to use someone besides Scott Glenn for a change. Anyway, Lambert is a badass old actor, and he's played a somewhat similar role before in Mortal Kombat.

Julia Voth (Bitch Slap, Project: S.E.R.A.) as Elektra Natchios: A kunoichi (female ninja assassin) of Greek descent. She met Matt Murdock while she was attending Colombia University. HSe later became a love interest of Daredevil, but her violent nature and mercenary life style divided the two. Elektra is an olympic level athlete and expert in the ancient martial arts of China, Siam, and Japan. She is also a master combatant with her trademark Sai.

Reason for Casting: Kudos to HailToTheKingBaby for this pick. After seeing Voth in Bitch Slap, I can safely say that she could easily handle the dark and violent Miller Elektra.

David Duchovny (The X-Files, Californication) as Ben Urich: An investigative reporter for The Daily Bugle. He has deduced the secret identity of Daredevil and uses him as a source of information (and vice versa).

Reason for Casting: Duchovny has the looks and talent to play Ben and can easily spit out whip-smart dialogue.

Villains:

Vincent D'onofrio (Full Metal Jacket, Law & Order: Criminal Intent) as Wilson Fisk/The Kingpin: One of the most powerful crime lords in New York. Fisk posses as a generous business man to hide his criminal activities. Contrary to his appearance, Fisk's body is entirely muscle mass built to his extraordinary size, making him posses great strength and durability.

Reason for Casting: D'onofrio is a fantastic character actor, which has given him the nickname of "Human Chameleon". He's also a big guy standing at 6' 3" and a half. Combine these two facts and you got yourself a helluva Kingpin.

Zachary Quinto (Heroes, Star Trek) as Bullseye: A psychotic assassin who uses his line of work to exercise his homicidal urges. Bullseye is a expert marksman with pinpoint accuracy, and can turn any day-to-day object, such as pencils or paper clips, into lethal projectiles. His spinal column is laced with the indestructible metal alloy adamantium.

Reason for Casting: I have to thank cardiakid for this pick. Quinto played a cold, creepy, scary-as-hell and psychotic serial killer named Sylar on Heroes. He fits a character like Bullseye more than Namor.

Timothy Olyphant (Live Free or Die Hard, Justified) as Zebediah Kilgrave/The Purple Man: A criminal who had been chemically altered so that his hair and skin are colored purple. His body can emit chemical pheromones that, when inhaled or absorbed through skin, allows him to mentally control them.

Reason for Casting: Olyphant is a fantastic actor who's great at playing heroes and villains. It was mainly his role in Live Free or Die Hard that convinced me to cast him.

Milla Jovovich (the Resident Evil films, The Fourth Kind) as Mary Walker/Typhoid Mary: A mutant assassin suffering from dissociative identity disorder. She posses the abilities of telekinesis (she can mentally lift objects under 10 pounds), pyrokinesis (she can cause spontaneous combustion to objects within her eyesight) and limited mind control.

Reason for Casting: Although everybody says she can't act, I say she's a decent actress. It was her performance in Stone that sold me on casting her.

Kevin Durand (Lost, Smokin' Aces) as Frank Simpson/Nuke: A subject of the Weapon Plus program (the successor to the Super Soldier program). Nuke has been subjected to various cybernetic enhancements that have given him superhuman strength, speed, stamina, and sturdiness. Nuke also possess a second heart and takes a special pill that increases his adrenaline.

Reason for Casting: I know he was in "Borigins", but Kevin deserves another role. He's physically imposing and I think Nuke would be a great role for him.

Vin Diesel (The Chronicles of Riddick, Fast Five) as Melvin Potter/Gladiator: A n accomplished costume designer who decided to become a professional criminal. Potter is a skilled martial artist and is physically powerful. His costume is heavily armoured and his gauntlets have two circular titanium blades, which both possess small rotors that rotates the blades at high speeds.

Reason for Casting: Even though almost everyone on this site says he's a shit actor (and by "almost everyone on this site", I mean CBM user Ryden), he's actually a good actor if you've seen his dramatic turn in Find Me Guilty. The dude's one of my favorite action stars. He fits a physically demanding role like Gladiator.

Please leave your thoughts and comments below. I hope you have enjoyed this cast. Also, if you're going to gripe about the double castings, please keep it to yourself.

Very cool casting!
Another hit! Seems like good castings are making a comeback!

I love all of your choices...Except for one.
I have a thing against Jovovich, like no other! I hate her...But, this is your casting, and I don't want to insult her if you're a fan...
I just have a different opinion on her.

But, I am also working on a DD cast, with some original choices, much like yours! Finally some original Daredevil's! You don't find those that often now!

Oh, and your Elektra choice...GOLD!
Anyone who can pull off Wonder Woman can play Elektra....So I can only agree with this one! Oh, and her acting has gone do far since Bitch Slap! She was good, but now she is AWESOME! She was GREAT in Project S.E.R.A!
I loved her emotion and skills with a gun!

Hey, before I start reviewing, go back and edit this cast by putting an [/i] (replace with a "<" and ">")at the end of "The Fourth Kind", because the rest of this article is italicized, including the comments.

Anyway, moving on.

- Casting the stars of Hawaii 5-0 is inspired. Besides, Scott Caan isn't too edgy looking as Wolverine, whether or not Dallas 362 is supposed to convince me. Nevertheless, McGarrett and Danno would own their roles.
- Joel would be inspired as Battlin' Jack. I'm told he's good as X-Men member Beast, but I haven't been proved otherwise. Besides, Joel knows MMA since Warrior.
- Abbie Cornish is a cutie. And you're reasonings casting her as Karen Page make sense. RIP her co-star Heath Ledger. :.-(
- RAIDEN! What an inspired choice!
- Even though Julia's a little too young, I've cast Michael Rosenbaum and Jayne Wisener as love interests in my Deadpool cast. And Julia is Greek. That works too!
- I'm the one who came up with David Duchovny as Ben Urich. Glad to see that one making rounds! Californication rocks!
- Milla can act worth a damn, I agree with you. She could definitely play Typhoid Mary.
- I agree, Vin can be a great actor. He also did great films like Pitch Black and Boiler Room, two legit films. As Gladiator, I think he could bring that character to life.

Overall, a great cast! Keep up the good work!

Believe it or not, I think Joel Edgerton would be better as Murdock

I agree with SoulEater, Edgerton would be better as Murdock. I think Jeffrey Dean Morgan would be perfect for Battlin' Jack. Also, I'm not convinced on Vin Diesel or Jovovich. I think the rest of the cast is one of the best I have seen for Daredevil!

- O'Loughlin is a badass boss, could c him in the role definitely, but as a few people have mentioned here, Edgerton would do equally well in the role I think; I'm not sure how to explain it but 2 me Daredevil needs to be a bit rough, O'Loughlin is quite suave
- Not really liking Caan as Foggy, he's more a Guy Gardner type, Foggy should b played by someone like Seth Rogen or maybe even Seth McFarlane as it should b age appropriate...
- Lambert could b cool, but I think Scott Glenn would b perfect; after seeing him in 'Sucker Punch' I think he can bring some 'wise old man' charisma 2 the role; the film sucked, but he did pretty well with what he had
- Cornish is sexy n talented; nice choice
- Not a fan of Voth, she's hot but I wasn't impressed with 'Bitch Slap' I haven't actually seen her in anything else admittedly, but who knows... I personally think there's someone better out there 4 the role, not sure who though...
- Jude Law is my choice 4 Bullseye; I know he's a fan favourite n what not, but he 2 me is the perfect choice, Quinto just doesn't really do it 4 me
- Ur Purple Man is cool, could definitely c him do it, I always pictured Robert Knepper doing it though
- Not a fan of Milla, but not sure who else would b appropriate... I've always seen the character as 'Daredevil's Harley Quinn' so it'd have 2 b someone who fits that role 4 me...

Overall, forgetting my nitpicking, nice cast as always man!

@Bigears

I agree, and jeeze!! Seth McFarlane as Foggy, I'm really loving the idea now!

I honestly think a great choice for Bullseye should be someone like Vincent Cassell,

or Norman Reedus

The reason is because two things are prominent about BUlLSEYE, he's sadistic, cruel, and taunting, and loves to torment in the same way joker gets kicks from killing people in his style. He relishes the fact that he's unbeatable and loves to see people squirm because of something HE did.

These two actors can convey a sadistically wicked bullier and thats what Bullseye in fact is to Daredevils "Hero of the play ground" type character: The bully that terrorizes everyone else on the swings and makes the heroes life a hell.

O'Loughlin is one of the best ideas I've seen!

Matching him up with JULIA VOTH is a KNOCKOUT!
Julia actually looks the part.

Well, im a little late to comment on this, but i will anyways.

O'Loughlin is a great choice for Daredevil, he's great on H5-0 and i think he would be a great choice for Murdock, especially with Caan as Foggy.

I agree with @TheSoulEater though, Edgerton would be a good DD, but after seeing Warrior, he'd be a great Battlin' Jack.

Thanks for the shoutout on your Bullseye pick! Quinto would totally own the role, and make it really creepy.

Diesel as Gladiator is unoriginal, but it's such an obvious pick it doesn't really seem to matter. I read a DD comic with Gladiator in it once and i could have sworn they just added a moustache to Vin Diesel.

Great cast, as usual!

I think for the most part, you've got this fan cast locked down. The pick for Stick is great, and I think that'd be an awesome story element.

I do believe the actors for Bullseye and The Purple Man could possibly be switched as I feel a man who could mentally manipulate people is right up "Sylar's" alley. But if you were dead set on keeping Olyphant for The Purple Man (which I could also see), I would probably take some of the above advice and find someone more sadistic and psychotic. Sure, Quinto's got the evil look down, but not crazy. He's always given off this sophisticated vibe (not suave), but someone I wouldn't want to challenge in a game where I could be manipulated/figured out.

For some reason Vin Diesel just doesn't seem like the right actor for the Gladiator. He could probably pull it off, and unlike most people (apparently) I don't think he's a bad actor at all. He's got the chops to carry the kind of role, but he's always seemed to be a "misunderstood" criminal. Not an overall brute. I'd find someone who's more brutish, but this doesn't necessarily mean they have to be equal in size.
