Universal Pictures Peter Berg-directed Battleship, is going to be a live-action adaptation of Hasbro's board game.

Variety says the deal is part of a two-picture pact Berg has made with the studio, Afghan war drama Lone Survivor is the follow up to Battleship.

Battleship script has been written by Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber. The Production is scheduled to begin sometime in next spring.

For Berg, the picture realizes a passion for ship-bound war stories that he picked up from his naval historian father.

Berg was calling the film "a contemporary story of an international five-ship fleet engaged in a very dynamic, violent and intense battle." Hmmm, you sank my Battleship lol!

Hey don't fret, there's much more Hasbro movie adaptations in the works at Universal including Stretch Armstrong (April 11, 2011) with Steve Oedekerk, Clue with Gore Verbinski, and of all things Monopoly with Ridley Scott? Maybe its going to be like Wall Street heh heh, hey have you heard, there's a Wall Street 2 movie just been done with Transformer boy & Indy Junior Shia LaBeouf! Also there's a movie called Candy Land with Kevin Lima and Ouija with Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes. Not heard of that one, but im sure it'll be good.

Who don't want a piece of Stretch Armstrong lol?

The Batlleship film will be the next directorial assignment for Peter Berg, who last helmed "Hancock." Other Berg projects in development are Dune and Hancock 2, which will come along after.

LEEE777 - Watch out, Hasbro's invading! Damn, i just want to see a darn GI Joe Vs Transformers movie, hopefully we'll get to maybe see that after Transformers 3 and GI Joe 2! ; )

WTF?! Okay, maybe I'm biased, but comic book movies make sense, but f*cking board game movies? When will this nonsense stop? Clue is okay, there is already preestablished characters, but how in the hell are they gonna make a Battleship movie? If this is way Hollywood is going, I've got a million ideas. Life, Sorry, Hungry Hungry Hippos, Mystery Date, Mousetrap, Jenga, Twister. The list goes on. I'm gonna start writing scripts;)

When 80's games are made into live action movies, the film tron always comes to mind.

...I guess so.

I'm excited to hear that they are making a "Lone Survivor" movie. The book is amazing. It tells the story about that SEAL sniper team from back in 2005 that was attacked. The whole team was killed except for one guy, who managed a remarkable escape back to friendly forces. It really is a great story...and a very sad one about the realities of war.

Anyway, Stretch Armstrong? WTF?

Never heard of strectch Armstrong. Don't think Monopoly will do very well, Clue, well they've already made a film in the 80's or late 70's and it was funny, so they could do it again and make it a suspenseful mystery horror. Battleship, I don't know, that seems hard I would have trouble coming up with aa decent script, just because it's all about ship-sinking, aI don't know. We'll al just have to wait and see.

To anyone who says clue should be a "suspenseful mystery horror" boo on you. Do you think making superman darker is a good idea too? The original was great, I don't see remaking it.
Also, wasn't there already a Battleship movie? Oh wait, no that was the Hunt for the Red October, silly me. I really hope this is just someone's joke about how bad G.I. Joe was.
