Another Vampire Movie Picked Up, But This One's a Comic Book!

Aurora Productions & Platinum Studios are banding together on a movie adaption of graphic novel "Nightfall" which was published by Platinum. The story centers on a guy who finds out just how crap life can get when he discovers that the prison he just entered is controlled by vampires, bummer lol, that sucks...

Variety is reporting Aurora Productions has indeed teamed up with Platinum Studios to develop a feature length movie of Platinum's comic book property Nightfall.

Nightfall was published in 2007 by artist Scott O. Brown & was drawn by Ferran Xalabarder.

Well i know most are sick of Vampire movies, mainly being cough cough Twilight and stuff, but this one has an edge and will do well told as a vampire movie, plus a bonus is it was a comic book first, always a good sign.

Producers are William Stuart (Aurora) and Scott Mitchell Rosenberg (Platinum Studios chairman and CEO).

Platinum studios also has in their works: Witchblade, Unique, Cowboys & Aliens, and Atlantis Rising.

LEEE - All of which i'd love to see on the big screen. This sounds good, and i'm not a lover of vampire flicks but i am of comic book ones so i will support it, hope you do too! ; )

hey fotc, what about the people out there that like Blade. I like vampires, and zombies, and superheroes, and werewolves and various other things. You can't lump everyone into one catergory. The people that like "Twilight" are different from the people that like real vampires. I bet you're just sore because all the 12 year old girls are too busy watching Twilight crap instead of paying attention to you.

Leee777: I'll be checking out Nightfall when or if it hits the movie market. I for one love Vampire movies like Blade,Underworld,Queen of the Damned, some old Dracula flicks and there's a few more. I think I enjoy the Vampires that are able to blend into society you the hybrids. Twilight had some of that in it but maybe a bit too much and it didnt quite work.
I will be checking out NEW MOON, because I didnt really think Twilight was a total flop maybe because I never read any of the books. Alot of people loved the Watchmen I thought it was O.K. again I guess it's because I'd never heard of the Watchmen before the movie came out.

damn right mskyle!

its just like anything else. there are awesome vampire movies/stories and there are bad ones. you can't say all vampire movies are terrible now because you don't like twilight. give me a break. i think twilight sucks too, but i'll be damned if thats gonna stop me from seeing a GOOD vampire movie.

i guarantee people complaining about this movie being made (mostly fotc) has NO IDEA whatsoever what this is comic is like or about.

I'm excited about Daybreakers. Love a good vampire movie done right, which doesn't seem to happen that often anymore. Thanks toilet. Lol. It's just the tween version of Trueblood. This concept is interesting, I'd watch it if done right. Perfect creature was another interesting vamp movie concept, anyone else seen that one?

Leee: Yea well I have an excuse to watch Twilight:NEW MOON I have a 11 yr.old who wants to see it....LOL. Really I had never heard of the Watchmen until the movie....when did the watchman novel come out? I was overseas for the better part of the 90's so I got behind on my comics. So whats up with Daybreakers? anyone with info lets hear it...Trueblood was cool stopped watching it cancelled my HBO. I had only one problem with TRUEBLOOD....I didnt like the fact everyone knew about the Vampires and the over the counter blood drink wasnt called trueblood? Sokie was down right UGLY she should be HOT... MY favorite character was Sokie's brother I forgot his name.
Dmon
Dmon - 11/19/2009, 3:46 PM
Blade@ I like the concept everyone knows about the Vampires in True Blood becuase its an idea I have never seen before. But I do agree Sokie could be hotter. And Sokie's brother is awesome he always has the potential to be a total bad a$$ but then bumbles it in some funny way. I would like the actor that plays her brother be in a comic book movie but I dont know which one.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 11/19/2009, 3:56 PM
@ blade

the watchmen comics came out in '86. they were the shit. if you've never read them, you should! they were the first comics strictly for adults. alan moore basically said "[frick] the comics code" and wrote something that no one had ever seen at the time! for that he's a god. for just about every other reason...he's a crotchedy old prick :)

Yeah, True Blood is a great show..Im not up to date on season 2 yet though.

I think this concept sounds..kinda shit! I mean, obviously I don't know much about it, but judging from what I do know...He's a prisoner..In a prison..run by Vampires...Wouldn't they just, like, eat him?
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 11/19/2009, 6:53 PM
@ ror

yeah, but ror, at least you aren't tearing it apart strictly for the fact that its a vampire movie. i'm not saying its gonna be good OR bad, i have no clue. but i'd like to know more!
MarkCassidy

No way, I love vamp movies..done well. 30 Days Of Night was great I thought, Let The Right One In was brilliant.

I see New Moon is getting rave reviews!..oh wait, its not...

"The characters in this movie should be arrested for loitering with intent to moan. Never have teenagers been in greater need of a jump-start. Granted some of them are more than 100 years old, but still: their charisma is by Madame Tussaud.

"The Twilight Saga: New Moon" takes the tepid achievement of "Twilight" (200, guts it, and leaves it for undead. You know you're in trouble with a sequel when the word of mouth advises you to see the first movie twice instead. Obviously the characters all have. Long opening stretches of this film make utterly no sense unless you walk in knowing the first film, and hopefully both Stephanie Meyer novels, by heart. Edward and Bella spend murky moments glowering at each other and thinking, So, here we are again.

Bella (Kristen Stewart) is still living at home with her divorced dad (Billy Burke), a cop whose disciplinary policy involves declaring her grounded for the rest of her life and then disappearing so she can jump from cliffs, haunt menacing forests, and fly to Italy so the movie can evoke the sad final death scene from--why, hold on, it's Romeo and Juliet! The very play Edward was reciting narcissistically and contemptuously in an opening scene.

Yes, Edward (Robert Pattinson) is back in school, repeating the 12th grade for the 84th time. Bella sees him in the school parking lot, walking toward her in slow-motion, wearing one of those Edwardian Beatles jackets with a velvet collar, pregnant with his beauty. How white his skin, how red his lips. The decay of middle age may transform him into the Joker.

Edward and the other members of the Cullen vampire clan stand around a lot with glowering skulks. Long pauses interrupt longer ones. Listen up, lads! You may be immortal, but we've got a train to catch.

Edward leaves, because Bella was not meant to be with him. Although he's a vegetarian vampire, when she gets a paper cut at her birthday party one of his pals leaps on her like a shark on a tuna fish.

In his absence she's befriended by Jake (Taylor Lautner), that nice American Indian boy. "You've gotten all buff!" she tells him. Yeah, real buff, and soon he's never wearing a shirt and standing outside in the winter rain as if he were--why, nothing more than a wild animal. They don't need coats like ours, remember, because God gave them theirs.

Those not among that five percent of the movie's target audience that doesn't already know this will (spoiler) be surprised that Jake is a werewolf.

Bella: So…you're a werewolf?
Jake: Last time I checked.
Bella: "Can't you find a way to...just stop?
Jake (patiently): "It's not a lifestyle choice, Bella."

Jake is influenced, or controlled, or something, by Sam, another member of the tribe. He's like the alpha wolf. Sam and his three friends are mostly seen in long shot, shirtless in the rain, hanging around the edges of the clearing as if hoping to dash in and pick off some fresh meat.

Bella writes long letters to her absent vampire friend Alice (Ashley Greene), in which she does nothing to explain why she is helplessly attracted to these sinister, humorless and vain men. It can't be the sex. As I've already explained in my review of the first film, The Twilight Saga is an extended metaphor for teen chastity, in which the punishment for being deflowered I will leave to your imagination.

The movie includes beauteous fields filled with potted flowers apparently buried hours before by the grounds crew, and nobody not clued in on the plot. Since they know it all and we know all, sitting through this experience is like driving a pickup in low gear though a sullen sea of Brylcreem."

haha. Im not a huge fan of Ebert, but damn, that gave me a giggle.

Dmon: what is Sokie's brother's name.... me and my wife was just talking about the show. I'll probally have to get HBO again because she loved the show more than I did.
CornDogBurger: Im in Southern Cali have any ideas where I could find back issues. comicbook stores in my area are lacking especially on back issue copies.
Leee: cool I'll check it out
Rors: After reading this I think I'll just wait for it to come out on DVD. You didnt mention it, but Im a little concern about the CGI it doesnt seem like there that great. Im going to still give the movie a chance Im just going to spend a buck at REDBOX AND WATCH IT AT HOME. Anyone on here besides me like the Vampire Diaries
LOVE THAT SHOW. I know it's a little twilightish, but remeber I said I didnt hate Twilight and this show in my opinion is much better.
