Way back in the 1990s Tim Burton was developing a movie called Superman Lives? Warner brothers were apparently building sets for the Daily Planet in Pittsburgh and Nicolas Cage was signed to star on for a huge pay-or-play deal. Cameras were going to role and then the whole thing collapsed like if a piece of Kryptonite was thrown in the works. Many fans at the time were full of relief everywhere.

A Japanese Tim Burton fan site recently had uncovered a slew of drawings and models of Brainiac from the film (top picture), not to mention numerous additional concept sketches of other things that are too difficult to recognize.

Is this the resurrection suit Superman or the cyborg or someone else?

What is for sure is Burton's plans for Brainiac, which has him as a disembodied head who apparently utilizes various robotic bodies. You can tell straight away this is from the mind of the great Tim Burton!

The video displaying Burton's Brainiac, which is below, just click play and see for yourself =

I kinda think this movie has that 1950's sci-fi feel to it in a Burton World. Whatever it was going to be, i feel it's something that might of been mind boggling and a thing we would of loved or hated?

Interesting news nonetheless. ; )

I'm sorry... but i think i am the only one who would look forward to a Burton style Super Boy Scout. Burton is generally known as a dark producer/director. A dark Superman would be amazing. I even love his take on Batman. Of course, i'm a Tim Burton nut. So yeah.

I too thought Brainiac had a Mars Attacks feel to him. Even though this movie would have sucked, perhaps it would have sucked a little less than Superman Returns. Either way Brainiac would have been cool to see.

@Anil, you and I share the same ideas. Also no bay, thats all we'll need is a Superman with some crappy attitude, story that makes no sence and fighting a transforming human......oh, wait a minute!

Burton is no good for Superman, Sups is bright and colorfull, the opposite of Batman. But Cage is just a terrible choice, he was a bad Ghost Rider and would have been an even worst Superman. Besides Clark has real hair.
