Help Superman Bring Hope And Joy To Sick Children

Help Superman Bring Hope And Joy To Sick Children

Our good friend Dustin is about to set off on a fantastic trip and he is doing it as Superman! Help him reach his goal and bring hope to the kids that need it the most.

We met Dustin a year or so ago at a comic convention and he has been a great friend to SuperHeroStuff ever since. He never ceases to impress us with his generous spirit, great attitude and willingness to help everyone and anyone he meets. He has a belief, as do we, that anyone can be a superhero if they put their mind towards doing great things and helping people that need it.

Dustin is also a cosplayer, a cosplayer with a really awesome Superman costume. He is going to be putting that costume to just about the best use I can imagine. In just a few short weeks, Dustin is going to head out onto the road trip of a lifetime. He is going to travel to all 48 continental United States as well as several places in Canada and visit sick children in hospitals. He is going to do it dressed as Superman and hand out freebies to try to bring some hope to these kids and inspire others to do what they can to help.

A road trip like this isn't cheap. It costs a lot of money to travel 15,000 miles in three months so he put together an IndieGoGo page to try to raise the bare minimum of funds needed for a trip like this. He is planning to live in his car and eat as cheaply as he can. Personally, I think he needs more than he is asking for so we are doing our best to help Dustin not only reach his fundraising goal but exceed it!

I love comic book movies as much as the next raving comic fan but moments like this don't come around often. We all have the ability to help someone do something truly heroic and touch the lives of thousands of kids and their families. Please take a moment and donate a few bucks to his worthy cause. Let's show him that comic book fans believe in the same things that the heroes we admire strive to personify.

To donate, head on over to his IndieGoGo page, you can find it at Hospital Heroes.

Perhaps an expensive version of that New52 suit might not look bad. This one though, ehhh.

Thanks for the support, guys!

I just wanted to let you all know that I AM using the classic Superman costume for this tour. I'm using the DCUO version with custom screen-printed fabric, 3D silicone chest piece, leather boots, etc. The reason that the New 52 costume is in these photos is because my REALLY high-quality suit wasn't finished yet.

Follow the Indiegogo, Twitter or Facebook pages and there will be many new updates with the new costumes very soon.

Thanks again!

@DustinDorough This is a very cool thing you're doing man. If I can spare some I'll donate. But let's say I donate with GBP, how does that work? Does it convert or do you not accept donations that aren't in U.S. dollars?

Or I should actually say, can people in the UK donate?

Thanks so much, everyone! This really means a huge lot to me and I've had to deal with my fair share of trolls, naysayers and just general negative commentary, so it's really refreshing to come here with such a warm welcome.

@angus666 You can donate to the Indiegogo page through PayPal, and I'm *pretty* sure that PayPal will do a currency converstion to USD.

@yossarian THANK YOU! I really appreciate that!

Even for those who can't donate, just spreading the word is a great way to help. This gig has been stressful beyond belief, but the support from those who care has made it all worth it. I'm going to be visiting thousands of kids with severe illness, burn victims, abused children, etc. so I'm sure you all can imagine how emotionally taxing it will be. The kind words from people like you are going to be one of the biggest things that helps to keep me going and to remind me of why I'm doing this in the first place.

@DustinDorough: I'll share this on Facebook and if your trip passes by Montréal,(Ste-Justine Hospital for Children) let me know. I can probably hook you up with the largest media network there to get it on the news.

If they're trying to appeal to children, they might not want to pick the one that kids only know from the back of their pyjamas that they didn't want in the first place.
