Tonight Guardians of the Galaxy director, James Gunn, hosted a live Q&A for the Marvel film. During he Q&A James Gunn reveals ineresting tidbits about the movie. Among those bits include the fact that Rocket was originally supposed to blow up the Ravager, Yondu.

JAMES GUNN: In the original script (that I wrote) Rocket had a little bomb in this scene. At the end Quill put it in the Orb when he gave it to Yondu. And, as Yondu flew away at the very end, his whole ship exploded!! A lot of people were really upset when I took that out of the script, but I had a feeling that people would like Yondu too much for that.

He also reveals that Pesident of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, at one point wanted The Mad Titan Thanos cut from the film.

JAMES GUNN: This THanos scene was hard. People read an interview with me saying Thanos talking about how difficult he was to put in the movie. They seemed to take it to mean that I didn't want him in the movie and Marvel did. But I CHOSE to have him in the film. Kevin at one point wanted to take him out. But I didn't want to lose the connection to the Avengers since more people would see the movie. I also like Thanos. But he was difficult because he made the relationships to the other characters so difficult and more complicated - and he served future stories more than this one.

Yeah, I'm following this now, was wondering when an article would pop up, lots of good stuff, Gunn is the man! So cool with his fans...

I don't buy his second comment. I listened to his audio commentary on the Guardians Blu-Ray and he flat out said that Marvel made him put Thanos in the film to help set up the larger universe. He sounded like he was eh about it.

I'm glad they kept Thanos in the movie. It was exciting to finally see him on film. Now we kinda know what to expect in future films.

More, incase Nomis was interested...

The Jackson Pollock line was something I said on set and asked Chris to say. We only filmed it one time. People thought we were wasting time on set, because nothing that dirty would ever make it into the film.

When Groot takes the battery I always planned on it being a single shot like it is. Most the crew didn't think we could keep it interesting in the final film, but I think it works great.

This scene with Quill talking about Aaskavarian girls etc was what we used to audition Quill, so I've seen a hundred actors - some really big stars - do this scene.

Kevin gave the Russos the assignment of SHIELD's downfall and I'm pretty sure for Gunn it was Thanos.

"Kevin at one point wanted to take him out. But I didn't want to lose the connection to the Avengers since more people would see the movie."

This doesn't sound like something Gunn would say. Every time you ask him about the movie's connection to The Avengers he gets all defensive and starts talking about how Guardians Of The Galaxy is its own film.

I'm glad Yondu is going to be in GotG 2 cuz he was a scene stealer in the movie, and it's nice to have one of the original Guardians around.

James Gunn seems like a nice, down to earth guy, but at the same time pretty warped. Didn't he want Stan Lee's cameo to be a beheading or something?

He wanted Stan Lee's cameo to be a 'piece' of the Collector's collection, lmao, that would have been great...

Also, Jame Gunn pretty much confirmed Nebula was coming back.

He loves Nebula and Yondu's characters, bet they'll have much bigger parts in the sequel...

I'm glad that didn't happen. While I wasn't a big fan of Yondu (or how poorly directed his "big" scene was) that would of been a really out of place moment of dark humor that just wouldn't work here.

That would have been funny but it makes sense for sequels to keep them alive.

Gunn

People always tell me the dance off moment is the ballsiest moment in the movie. But I just needed a way for him to distract him while Rocket finished fixing the weapon.

See, like I've been saying, a distraction!

Feige didn't like how bad the CGI of Thanos looked.

@alexanderlykins

Well I'm glad, cause I didn't really his facial look that much.... It could of been way better.
Where did you find this info at?

If you could add any Marvel character into the next movie, who would you most like to add in?

James Gunn I've already added them and it's a secret!

What a tease...
