IRON MAN 2: INVINCIBLE
As I wasn’t particularly tickled with Fav’s IM2, the way I was in awe of Batman Begins, TDK, or KICK-ASS…I had a draft Iron-Man sequel, which I didn’t put into full story but now have decided to release the plot outline…to tie into my Avenger series I started.

Invincible –
The dark has continued to rise, in bits and pieces, as world terror suffers a strong blow, day by day, each splintered cell, each faction…in fear….not of the CIA, not of FBI or Interpol…but Iron Man…running amok…crusader of world peace…but not all the shadows…rest in waiting…some shadows…are beyond quelling…the present day is in equilibrium.
A year before the present, we are at the end of Iron Man 1. We see a mysterious benefactor meeting with 2 associates in Russia…Marc Scarlotti…and with Anton Vanko…
And this benefactor…shows them the Stark Press Conference where he revealed his identity…
And he tells them that they must up the ante…Stark must be destroyed. They have little time to act, because bigger wheels are turning, at ripping velocities, and he warns Scarlotti and Vanko that they were hired to kill Stark, or else…they would all suffer at the hand of something bigger…much bigger than them…much bigger the Iron Man…any wrenches in the wheels must be eliminated. The benefactor presents himself to the Soviet refugee scientist, Vanko, and the hired techie hitman from USA, Scarlotti…and reveals as Justin Hammer.
Hammer bears gifts of tech and details of science. They must all work together…and the icing on the cake, Hammer has partial details of the Arc Reactor…they wonder how Hammer got this info…
“A
ghost helped me,…” he teased as he lets the men get to work…”Oh…before I forget boys, we must move the base to America now…”
We now return to present day, and Tony is having nightmares…as he flashes back and recalls the events of Iron Man 1, and wakes with his identity meeting revealed to the press. He enters his living room, but finds Jarvis in a dormant state…and Nick Fury by his bar.
“A late nightcap?” Stark quips.
“You would know!” Fury teases.
Fury tells him that he has not responded to the invite to join SHIELD…and time is running out…as SHIELD needs Stark’s tech, and Stark needs SHIELD to help keep bullseyes off his back…but Stark is still reluctant as he feels he can do it solo. Fury leaves and tells him that the Stark Expo in Howard’s memory should be the catalyst in to showing the trigger to world peace isn’t Iron Man…it’s SHIELD. Fury tells him…thus far you are father’s son…but not his father’s legacy…and leaves.
Iron Man shows at the Expo, and Pepper and Happy are there to greet him, with Rhodes and the US Army keeping close eye on all Stark affairs. We see the Army Superiors pressing Rhodes to convince Stark to return to weaponizing and link with them.
Rhodes tells them Stark is not dealing anymore…and they’ll see his future in the expo revealed…and Stark does just that. His company’s plan is shown – and no more weapons beckon – his company is following his father’s dream of using arc technology to power the world in the future…to eliminate nuclear threats, pollution, to save lives and power medicinal research…to eradicate poverty as well, boost agricultural and green-house countries…he wants arc reactor technology to be the way forward…but only under his company’s watch as it is lethal if in the wrong or incapable hands. We see the military and SHIELD ponderous of this…and as Pepper, Happy and Jim show relief…
Stark is attacked by Hammer’s man, Whiplash, who is really Scarlotti, and as Tony gears into his suit…they battle.
Hammer watches closely as he leaves his European meeting with the Nefaria family to return to USA…as he senses some big opportunities coming his way. Stark and Whiplash battle, and the Army decides to intervene…but Whiplash subdues them as this is too much for the small Army Contingent at the meet.
As Fury eyes intervention via his unit at the expo, Stark’s best friend comes to his aid…Rhodes rams a Hummer into Whiplash and as the disoriented man attacks Rhodes, Tony’s repulsor ray drops Stark’s logo onto him, killing Whiplash…
And Stark just manages to save Jim. Stark, Jim and SHIELD, led by Agent Coulson, survey the damage. Fury radios and tells Coulson to keep an eye on Tony…and as the team analyse the mess…Tony looks for Pepper…
And finds her trapped in the rubble…she has survived barely…but Tony’s gaze falls on Jim
…who looks at Tony with tears…
Happy was killed in the melee
Tony and Pepper are both distraught as they return home under watch of Coulson and his team. Fury pays a visit but Stark wants to be left alone. SHIELD manages to keep the Army off Stark’s back as he comforts himself. Pepper and everyone else is shut off as Stark goes into his depression…and goes on a drinking binge…and the only one who he meets with is Jim.
When Stark doesn’t show to Happy’s funeral as he still blames himself for failing to protect those closest to him, Jim convinces Tony not to follow the wrong path…and Tony tells him, he has a contingency plan if he were to ever suffer at the hands of an enemy. He tells Jim he has one major weapon left…that no one knows of…not even Pepper or SHIELD…Tony shows him the weapon…
We now forward to the Army deciding to move past Stark…and with a new dealer…Justin Hammer!
Hammer’s plans come to fruition when he is given the contracts by the Army to develop their Hammer-Squad…robotic drones…not for man…but controlled remotely to avoid life-losses. Jim is taken aback at this turn of events and when he attempts to defend Stark, the Army tell him that Stark has been called to Congress to answer for his deeds and endangering lives on American soil with his one man crusade. They insist they get a look at an Iron Man suit…and Jim is further shocked…when Stark agrees. Stark attends the hearing, and they try to get him to turn over all weapons…and suits…but Stark simply refuses…and tells them he only wanted to make the world a better place…but alas, it is something he can’t do anymore…he will not see his dream of world peace through again…Jim, Pepper and Fury are stunned…has he quit as Iron Man? He informs Congress they will get only to look, not seize, a suit…and he allows them an hour of analysing his Mark 1 armor…and then leaves with it. Their analysis is done, but they don’t get enough time to fully scan the suit…but with the little data they collect, they think they have enough to build their own suit.
Jim and Stark leave…both wary of the Army…and of Justin Hammer.
Fury and Stark’s friends ask him why he is giving up…and he tells them of the leaking Palladium within the reactor system…and his blood is being poisoned. He tells them that he has secretly tried the different metals available…even some
liquid metal found at Alkali Lake, which as precious as it is, just isn’t working. Fury is taken aback at this ‘liquid’ he mentions as Fury knows its nature. Jim leaves to smooth out the Army issue, and Fury leaves Potts and Stark…but before he does, he tells Stark…that Howard was a founding member of SHIELD…a secret member who did not want his ID revealed so as to protect his family, as he had enough enemies already…and he told Stark,
Howard helped shield the greatest of captains…and soldiers…and he wouldn’t give up…Fury says Howard helped refine something that SHIELD owned…a secret project…and Fury tells Stark expect something soon…and he leaves Potts and Stark to a romantic setting…and they admit their love for each other…
The next morning Stark awakens to find Coulson with a suitcase…and a tape. Stark plays it and it is revealed as an unrefined metal found…on a secret SHIELD ops mission…in Wakanda. Stark utilizes the metal ore…and goes to work basis the advice on his father’s tape concerning the metallic properties…
Jim is shocked when the Army reveal that
all the data regarding the Stark suit was stolen, and Hammer is pissed…they don’t know how it got lost but they wont get it back…as Jim tells them Stark won’t like his suit data stolen…which is why he wouldn’t let them take a suit in the first place. Jim tells them Stark’s fears may be realized now…possible
Armor wars…
Hammer returns to his base, revealed in Washington, as his ruse is full circle.
He stole the data via his ‘ghost’…a hired thief…as he didn’t want the Army owning it. He set it up so the Army would survey the suit and he’d steal the data from them, as Stark would never let his rival near the suit in the first place…and this way, Hammer alone has the suit info to peddle on the black market, while the Army is empty handed…Hammer was aiding the Army hence he had his alibi and was in the clear…and Hammer now has the final piece of the puzzle to offer Vanko…after Whiplash died, Vanko has been using the limited arc reactor data…to build a suit…and now with this…the project can be complete. Stark will be killed now…as Hammer planned.
Tony and Pepper are relieved that the metal has worked…and Stark has found the upgrade for his reactor. Coulson and his team, along with Jarvis, deem Stark healthy…but the party is crashed when Jim breaks the news to everyone about the Army’s stolen armor data. Stark immediately takes Jim to his refuge, and tells him…things are gonna get sticky…he tells Jim he’s gotta use a new Iron Man suit…a new Mark that’s unlike the others before…more resilient than ever…
They clear everyone out, including Coulson and his team…who can’t get in touch with Fury who is off on a special ops mission…and Stark tells Jim, Jarvis is gonna give him a manual…a crash course…
Before they can fully plan the op out…Hammer-Squad attacks…
. Hammer wants Stark dead, as well as Jim as he is a deterrent in Hammers' plans since day 1...and with both of them dead, and the Army non-oblivious to Hammers' robots and schemes...the removal of these 2 thorns with one stone will pave the way for Hammer's meteoric rise!
As Justin’s drones begin destroying the condo…Iron Man attacks and begins eliminating them…Hammer is at his base…and loving every second of it…as he sees his squad in action. But Iron Man handles the team, and warns SHIELD not to intervene as the casualty count will most likely be high, and when it seems Tony will win, Crimson Dynamo appears…Vanko…
And Vanko begins kicking Stark’s ass with his upgraded red Russian influenced armour.
Dynamo and the other drones have Tony on the ropes…but the day is saved by...
War Machine…and both men begin taking out the drones…and in a climatic fashion, Dynamo is defeated by them…but he isn’t getting off easily…as Hammer activates Dynamo’s hidden self-destruct sequence…as he wants them dead one way or the next. Vanko is set to go off…
But Stark and War Machine combine to shoot him via repulsor technology into the atmosphere…and he explodes high up, away from civilians. They have saved the day! Brothers-in-arms!
As Hammer is livid with his loss, he begins to prep to leave and destroy the Washington base so that no links can be traced to him…when he sees on the screen…
‘REMOTE SIGNAL TO HAMMER-SQUAD TRACED…COMPLETE…MISSION COMPROMISED!’
He has been made…and as he sees his men gassed and passing out on the surveillance screens…the door of his control room is smashed open…
And we see ‘Ghost’ thrown unconscious on the floor…
Hammer gawks at the beautiful woman standing in front of him…
‘Justin Hammer…you’re under arrest!’ with a gun pointed to his forehead.
Stark, Jim, Pepper and Coulson are all paying respect at Happy’s grave. Stark decides to continue as it’s what Howard and Happy would have wanted. He tells Jim that the War Machine is for the Army, but only that the info and data not be copied, or else…and on the final condition, that Jim be the pilot. He tells Jim, I am Iron-Man, you be my War Machine…through thick and thin. Jim agrees and leaves to collect the suit and head to base.
As Stark and Potts embrace holding hands, he tells Coulson…
“I’d like to take Fury up on his job offer!”
Coulson looks at Stark, puts on his shades, looks at Potts and walks off yelling,
“Make an appointment with his secretary! Ask for Maria Hill!”
“What the---who the hell you people think you are?” Stark yells back as Pepper is amused.
The Agent turns around…
“I am…PHIL COULSON-AGENT OF SHIELD!”
Iron-Man by Black Sabbath plays…but is cut off by…Barbie Girl…by Aqua!
End story!!!
Epilogue –
We are at a hidden base in China…and we see a shadowy figure lurking on what seems to be a throne…with a robe extending past his feet…sitting…at the head of a council. The figure is obscure and vague as he heads the table…with 5 seats on either side of him. There are 10 seats…with all filled but 2. The 8 men have their hands placed on the table…displaying a ring each.
“What do we do now? First Raza, now this…we must make a swift and decisive action!”
“Silence!” the leader says as his hands point towards the symbol at the heart of the table…the TEN RINGS SYMBOL!
“We will proceed as planned…this is a minor setback…and great revelations have been brought to light…” the leader continued…
We then see Hammer in a cell…and as he takes his shirt off to continue his prison workout…we see the Ten Rings Symbol tattooed on his back…
The leader ends, “All is in place as planned…let us proceed to the Ultimo Zone!”
We pan to Stark in his newly rebuilt control room…he goes over his private folder entitled ‘Extremis’…when he gets incoming com from Fury…and he closes his folder…
“So you’re hard to find…you missed me and Rhodey saving the day?” he tells Fury.
Over the com, Fury replies, “I’ve got bigger fish to fry Stark…”
“For godsakes Tony!” Fury replies.
Fury then links Stark to images showing an obscure shrouded figure in the caverns of New Mexico…with sandstorms, thunder and lightning surrounding…and the man pulls his cloak off to show a soaking wet blonde...as Stark wondered if it were a woman he viewed...
“What the hell? Some kinda magician?”
“No…but wherever he shows up…we have storms, thunder and lightning that’ll make you crap your pants,” Fury replied, “I can do with you services here on this one. Coulson is on it also!”
“No thanks!”
“What the…why not STARK?”
“Umm…lightning…Nicky…I’m IRON-Man??? Get it?”
He scoffs and then transmits to Stark’s HUD…A file ‘Avengers Initiative’…and as Stark opens it…we see pictures of Bruce Banner, Hulk…and General Ross.
“See if you can get to the General…seems they went ballistic on a University way, way north!” Fury ordered.
“Will do…I think Danvers and Dugan are on stand-by already!”
“But before you go after Big-Green, there’s something we gotta do in the cold…”
“Whazzat? Another mission…”
“So to speak…our top priority most secret yet…”
“Well whatdya need Fury?”
“Well Stark…what’s the biggest microwave you got?”
We pan to the image in Stark’s HUD as Fury sends it…and we got a satellite signal from an underwater scope-system US NAVY submarine…and we see a huge block of ice in the murky waters…and as light shines to shed the vagueness…we see A RED-WHITE-AND BLUE SHIELD in the ice and in the deepness of the ice, a frozen obscure figure...of what seems to be...A MAN!!!!
