Star Wars: Episode VII Open Auditions Have Begun in the U.S.!

Star Wars: Episode VII has begun the search for two of it's leads here in the United States as of today. As Nailbiter's London Open Call article described here in greater detail:

http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/nailbiter111/news/?a=89596#comments

the parts they're looking to fill are :

Rachel: (Lead) to play 17-18 years old, must be beautiful, smart, athletic, open to all ethnicities (including bi- and multi-racial).

And

Thomas (Lead): Male, 19-23, All Ethnicities

to play 19-23 years old, must be handsome, smart, athletic.

As they don't intend on spending the next year casting, it's not surprising they're avoiding New York and Los Angeles. And while today's audition in Bloomington MN has come and gone, fans who fancy a road trip and a shot at the dream can audition in any of these locations:

November 10: St. Louis, MO
November 14: Chicago, IL
November 17: Troy, MI
November 22: Austin, TX
November 24: Nashville, TN

To apply and preregister (and discover other great casting opportunities on the site) click the link to Backstage in the source. You can also go directly to www.opencastingcall2013.com to apply and preregister. Please note that applicants under 18 MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian and if you can't attend in person, video submissions are being accepted.

To any and all interested in going out for either the "Rachel" or "Thomas" roles, remember: Do or do not. There is no try. Also, good luck and may the Force be with you!

Going to call these as the main romantic interests for the lead Skywalkers and Solos.

@NovaCorpsFan

I just posted my image directly into the body of the article in the same way you do it in the comments section. In the rush to get this ready I completely forget to upload an image via the photo album.

@Curmudgeon

Could be. Or they could be the basic context close enough to the main characters to get the basic performance they need to judge the perspective actors by.

Remember the lead casting call for the CW's Amazon, which vagued up Diana as "Iris" and gave just enough basic detail to get the point across? This is potentially the same situation.

And click that thumbs up button, guys. I know I'm too old to take a shot at the brass ring, but maybe a fellow CBMer could fit the bill.

LOL, all ethnicities? So they went to Minnesota, Missouri, Illinois, Michigan, Texas and Tennessee? So basically white. Thanks.

@krylonshadow

You know they mean any and all welcome. But let's see. According to the woefully and consistently under-reported U.S. Census Bureau, the minority populace in the audition sites stands at:

13% in the state of Minnesota/21% in Bloomington, MN (with nearby Minneapolis coming in at 37%)

17% in the state of Missouri/55% in the city of St. Louis,

33% in Illinois/55% in Chicago

20% in MI, 16% in Troy (with nearby Detroit coming in at 82%)

20% in the state of Texas and 32% and climbing in Austin (with nearby Houston coming in around 50%)

And around 21% in the state of Tennessee and 40% in Nashville (with nearby Memphis coming in at around 63%).

And I'm still ignoring other surrounding cities. So yeah, not remotely as white washed as you'd think.

@ AlexRival

Don't feel bad. They literally dropped the casting notice day of the Bloomington audition so a lot of people were a bit pissed at the short notice.

@RyGoR

Good luck!
