Since it's debut in March, Green Lantern: The Animated Series has built an incredible fanbase from both comic and non-comic fans alike. The series is to return in September alongside Young Justice in the DC Nation programming block. Last season's finale saw Team Interceptor dealing with a Red Lantern army who found their way through the Maelstrom to attack Oa. In the images below, you can see Peter Markowski's concepts for the Lighthouse and The Maelstrom.

You can see some more pieces at his blog.

Meanwhile, Zak Plucinski has released his intial designs for Tomar-Re and B'dge, who was later finalized into Ch'p. You can see both characters in action by watching the Comic-Con sizzle reel for Season 2.

Producer Giancarlo Volpe (who I'll be interviewing soon) has posted this collage on his Tumblr. These are color keys from several episodes created by all of the artists involved in Green Lantern: The Animated Series. Let's ask Giancarlo to release each art piece individually in high-res! They'd make for great wallpapers, don't you think?

still bugs me that the show used ships. green lanterns can fly why have a ship? it makes it seem like just another space story.

^ uhhh do you even watch the show??? There is a story behind the ship and is pretty neccessary for what's happening in the plot.

@Caveboy0, maybe they have ships because their power rings aren't stong enough to get them to a place that's too far away?

Great show. DC is really doing well with it! Using what worked in the DCAU with over-arching plot-lines. LOVE IT!!!

Funny thought here, but how about DC get the people in the animation department consult their live action adaptions. cough*Bruce Tommy*cough

This probably the best adaptation of Green Lantern to date. But yeah I also hate the ship.

@RexBlazer1

the ring is the most powerful weapon/tech in the universe

it's the fastest known means of travelling through the universe

the ship thing was introduced in the green lantern show because they nerfed their ring powers

in canon literature, there is no piece of technology that surpasses what the ring can do

@hehemata...how would you like to be a human in the middle of deep space space when your power ring runs out of juice?

Ya'll do know the power ring has limited battery power and Hal left his battery on Earth befor egoing into the Outter Reach of Space that would take months to get to. That's why he is on a ship. Plus they may need it to get people from safety from a planet. So the ship was needed. Actually watch the show before make assumption.

@Caveboy0 - Green Lantern is just as much (or even more) space based Sci-Fi fantasy as it is comic book genre. If you pay close attention, good space based Sci-Fi take advantage of the use of spaceships, for that is the theater from which the actors perform (it's kind of clumsy to do that in space all the time). It might seem silly or backwards to have a Green Lantern use a ship, but there is a theatrical reason for it.

When this first was announced, I was skeptical of the CGI animation. To me, it feels like a cheap and quick way to get out of classic animation. This, the new Batman show, and even Mickey Mouse (my niece watches it lol) have all gone over.I hope this trend doesn't continue though, I'd rather see classic cartoon animation. But, if the story, music, and character development are as good as described here, I may have to check it out.

@rym - That's where I got it from! Hehe! Awesome work in my opinion! I love it! I should've slid you name in there at least :S. Giving credit where credit is due!
You wouldn't happen to have done one with Hal's classic suit would ya'?

TheActionAce - 8/15/2012, 10:21 AM
@Highball, heh its OK, I forgot to put my name in the GIF anyway, which I should do now. No I haven't done one with Hal's classic suit I was going to but instead I did the movie costume, which I regret after seeing the train wreck of a movie it was.

I like this show way more than I ever thought I would, but I still really hate how Killawog is designed. He's the most cartoony looking part of the whole show! Just think they could have done so much better on him. He looks like a non threatening stuffed pig.
