Batman Vs Captain America

There can be only one!

Well, its not really a surprise to anyone, Batman and Captain America have advanced to the finals. Both heroes crushed their competition.

Batman (644) Vs Daredevil (135)

Captain America (1,110) Vs Punisher (246)

Just so we are clear, when I started this, I wanted to level the playing field. I used only "low" power heroes and villains. No cosmic energy, flying, super speed or off the charts strength levels. Each one does have their regular arsenal with them (ex: Cap has his shield, Batman has his utility belt, etc...). So, let’s get on to the tale of the tape.

Batman

Height
6’ 2”

Weight
210 pounds

Powers
Although Batman does not have any 'superpowers', he has elevated himself to near superhuman status through years of rigorous training. Through these years of training, he has obtained peak human strength, agility and skills in acrobatics.

Abilities
He is a master of 127 different forms of martial arts, thus making him a very unpredictable opponent to his enemies. Batman was also trained as a League of Shadow ninja assassin, becoming a master of stealth, and escape artistry, thus having the effect as being "invisible." Through years of deep study, he has become one of the world's greatest scientists, criminalologists, tacticians and detectives and a master of disguise as well.

Weapons
His utility belt is stocked with a wide array of tools and armaments including batarangs, grapnels, zip-lines along with gas and smoke capsules. Through the years his uniform and cape have had varying levels of abilities.

Captain America

Height
6'2"

Weight
220 lbs

Powers
Captain America represents the pinnacle of human physical perfection. Captain America has a very high intelligence as well as agility, strength, speed, endurance, and reaction time superior to any Olympic athlete who ever competed. The Super-Soldier formula that he had metabolized has enhanced all of his bodily functions to the peak of human efficiency. Most notably, his body eliminates the excessive build-up of fatigue-producing poisons in his muscles, granting him phenomenal endurance.

Abilities
Captain America has mastered the martial arts of American-style boxing and judo, and has combined these disciplines with his own unique hand-to-hand style of combat. He has also shown skill and knowledge of a number of other martial arts.

Weapons
Captain America's only weapon is his shield, a concave disk 2.5 feet in diameter, weighing 12 pounds. It is made of a unique Vibranium-metal alloy that has never been duplicated. The shield has great aerodynamic properties: it is able to slice through the air with minimal wind resistance and deflection of path. Its great overall resilience, combined with its natural concentric stiffness, enables it to rebound from objects with minimal loss of angular momentum. It is virtually indestructible: it is resistant to penetration, temperature extremes, and the entire electromagnetic spectrum of radiation.

P.S. – While this was all going down, Bucky and Robin were getting stone drunk at Bubba’s Bar on the Lower East Side bitching how the label of "sidekick" has been keeping them down all these years.

I will be working on a Cosmic Powers addition soon. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

BTW, I say Cap takes Bats down! I don't believe in Geek Rule #7. He does not always win.

I know Batman is supposed to be amazing and everything, but it has always bothered me that a mere mortal can learn "127 different forms of martial arts, become one of the world's greatest scientists, criminalologists, tacticians and detectives and a master of disguise."

I mean seriously, it would take him like 100 years to learn all this. People use the excuse that he's a genius. Well big deal. To be a genius you just need to have a 140 IQ and alot of people have that.

So basically, I agree with DogsOfWar, I don't believe in Geek Rule #7.

@ zephyr

doesn't matter if you don't think batman could do it in real life. in the comics he did, and he does know all those forms of martial arts, so you can't discredit that. and he's not considered a genius because of his IQ, he's considered a genius because he's probably in the top 5 of smartest comic heroes. he's PROVEN himself to be astoundingly smart, and have brillian deductive skills, so you can't simplify that either. and yes, it would be impossible for Bats to learn all that stuff, but you know what else is impossible?? Super Soldier Serum. So you can't look at things realistically, these are comics, so you have to go by whats in the comics, not what it WOULD be like in real life.

bottom line is, their equal when it comes to fighting skill, batman knows a lot of forms of martial arts, but cap is stronger and faster. i think bats has the advantage only because of his tools in his utility belt. thats the only thing that gives him the advantage, to me. his belt is full of trickery and a lot of the gadgets can knock someone unonscious, put them to sleep, smoke bombs to cover his trail and attack from a different angle...he would just be overwhelming.

i don't care about geek rule 7 or whatever, if i think batman would lose to someone, i would say it. but i think bats has a slight advantage.

regardless of how realistic each characters attributes are, as they stand in the universe they occupy, Batman DOES win...I personally think that if each character existed in the real world and we give each character true abilities that parallel the comic universe, Moon Knight, Captain America, and the Punisher would win out because there is really military training that would win out over any supposed training Batman might get if he were "real"...I even think Daredevil would trump Batman given realistic training in the "real" world...but we're talking about a universe that has aliens that can evaporate lakes with their eyes and gods who can crack worlds, so using that guideline, Batman WOULD be the top of the line street level fighter...

@ dogs

here are my cosmic guys list

Silver Surfer
Fire Lord
Terrax the Tamer
Mephisto (he's faught SS a gajillion times)
Thanos (without the infinity gauntlet. gotta be fair)
Green Lantern
Nova
Super Skrull
Captain Marvel (marvel's CM, not Shazam, obviously)
Quasar
Drax the Destroyer
Adam Warlock

i'm not a huge DC fan, so you might need to ask someone for some more DC cosmic characters. i left out the "god-like" cosmic characters like Eternity, Galactus, celestials, and guys like that because they would own the whole thing. they could be a whole tournament for themselves.

Faust@ Do you really think that if these characters were real, Batman wouldn't have all of the military training of Cap, Pun, or MK, if not more. Dude, 127 styles of martial arts! That's probably a few more than they teach your average soldier. And if were talking real world stuff, why are Punisher and Captain America military trained, but Batman's training is only "supposed?"

@CDB-Thanks, those are definitely some I have thought about. Had not thought of Super Skrull, would he qualify as cosmic with all of FF's powers?

What about Dark Phoenix or Sinestro?

Anyone else have anything? DC or any publisher

batman would defeat captain america easily,if you think of the knightfall storyline didn't he have to defeat all the inmates of arkham before going back to the mansion to face bane, where bane broke his back.
fights i'd love to see.
1.deadpool vs batman
2.wolverine vs batman(wolverine defeats everyone he faces.)
3.deadpool vs deathstroke
4.darkseid vs apocalyspe
5.ms.marvel vs powergirl.

Although I agree with zephyr that Batman's martial arts kowledge is exaggerated in descriptions, he is a great fighter. Cap bests Batman physically in just about every respect, but due to Batman's superior fighting skill, I have to say he'd win in a straight up hand to hand fight.
Dmon
Dmon - 3/26/2010, 1:04 PM
Batman would win and he knows all those fighting styles because of his obsession and resources. And his intelligence trumps Cap's. Also Batman fights dirty as hell. How can anyone not believe Batman's abilities but believe Cap's abilities, thats ridiculous.
McLovin
McLovin - 3/26/2010, 1:13 PM
Corndog - I love your list. I'm more of a Marvel guy myself, but If I was to add DC characters, they would be Darkseid, Mantis (from Apokalips), Mongul and Imperiex. Btw, I think Thanos is already a fare opponent to the guys in your list WITHOUT the gauntlet. With it, he is more powerful than Galactus.

To all others on this debate. If Bats doesn't have his utility belt, Cap would eventually best him in hand to hand combat (after many hours of fighting), but with the belt, Bats wins. Why? Because once he evaluates the situation and come to the conclusion that he cannot defeat his adversary physically, he would quickly reach into his arsenal to make sure he comes out on top. Therefore if we follow the guide lines that Dogs set up, IMO Batman should be the last man standing.

McLovin
McLovin - 3/26/2010, 1:36 PM
Keven - though you are right, not all of the outcomes were accurate. Superman took out the Hulk in less than a minute???????? Storm beating Wonder Woman???!!! Aquaman beating Namor!!!???? Spider-man beating Superboy!!!!??? Wolverine beating Lobo!!!??? All of those results were total bullshit and all real comic fans know that. So if you can question those results, you can question Bats vs Cap. Although I didn't really like how Bats beat him, I do agree that it was prob the most realistic result.

@Keven lol you should change that to naked in a blank empty room with nothing to grab on to to use as a weapon, but Batman fights dirty so he might grab on to something to win. LOL So Batman still wins.

But Batman all the way for me. To be honest, though, I never was a huge fan of Captain America...

batman would give cap a single look, and his shield would start shaking.

captain america has always bored me bit. he's just so [frick]ing simple. lol

@ mclovin

yeah man, with the gauntlet, Thanos can do anything he wishes, so he's WAY more powerful than Galactus. with the Gauntlet, the ONLY character in all of Marvel that could beat him is the Living Tribunal. but i love Thanos, he's the man. but then again, Drax was created for the sole purpose of killing Thanos, so he would give him a run for his money (if Thanos doesn't have the gauntlet of course) :)
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 3/26/2010, 1:48 PM
@ dogs

yeah, i would consider Super Skrull a cosmic character, just because he's a skrull and he was part of Annihilation, but i could see how he would be borderline.

and yeah, buddy, i don't how i put green lantern but not sinestro, lol. but Dark Phoenix i think would be too powerful for those guys. she DOES have the power to destroy the entire universe. so i'd probably leave her out.
greenlanternsector2814
greenlanternsector2814 - 3/26/2010, 1:55 PM
As much as I love cap, Batman would eventually take him down, although it would be a long grueling fight. In the end, Batman will be victorious. I mean, the guy can take down the Justice League if he wanted to. He knows the weaknesses of every hero and villain in the DCU. And if he doesn't, he figures it out. Batman is a force to be reckoned with.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 3/26/2010, 1:55 PM
i agree with you guys, if Steve Rogers and Bruce Wayne were both in the club, out of costume, and Steve accidentally stepped on Bruce's million dollar shoes, and they started to throw down...Cap would win.

but if they're both in costume with all their tools at their disposal, Bats wins
McLovin
McLovin - 3/26/2010, 1:57 PM
Hey, how about The Sentry? That guy seems to be as powerful as the writers imagination! He's days may be counted but he could still make the cosmic match, no?
weapon925
weapon925 - 3/26/2010, 1:58 PM
Well lets see.Bats is the greatest at everything he does, which is everything. Cap has lived through actual war and if you take into effect he probably has that killer instinct in him still....
Also are they walking down the road and run into each other and are like "hey that's a gay outfit" and bang fight time. Or do they get time to prep. Cap is a master tactician as is Batman. Batman has more gadgets. Hurm.... I still have to give it to the guy with the stones to take on the Hulk with only a shield. Has Bats ever went up against a Hulk type character with out some kind of armor? So Cap on shear balls alone.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 3/26/2010, 2:00 PM
@ mclovin

as far as power, yeah, he could hang, but i wouldn't consider him a cosmic character necessarily
WeaponX
WeaponX - 3/26/2010, 2:00 PM
I think for the most part these guys are equal in combat, however, I think the effect of the super solider serum helps stave off muscle fatigue as well as boosts the speed of natural healing. So, I'd say Bats and Cap fight until exhaustion. Then at that point the super solider serum comes into its own and gives Cap the edge to bring home a win.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 3/26/2010, 2:03 PM
oh yeah, i forgot Ronan the Accuser, he could be in there. as well as Moondragon. but i think it would be a good idea to have an equal amount of Marvel and DC characters. all my suggestions have been Marvel except for GL.
Shaman
Shaman - 3/26/2010, 2:08 PM
weapon925- Batman's too smart to go head to head against Hulk without any body armor. So on shear Cap balls alone, Bats wins LOL
McLovin
McLovin - 3/26/2010, 2:12 PM
weapon925 - Bats has taken on Superman on more than one occasion and even Darkseid himself!!! I think on "shear balls" they are evenly matched. However, I think Batman would eventually get tired of fighting this guy in the American flag suit, he would drop a smoke bomb, then taser the shit out of Cap and eventually make him swallow a sleeping gas pellet and that is the end of that fight.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 3/26/2010, 2:16 PM
@ mclovin

heh heh, lets not get carried away, man, lol. Bats has taken on Superman, but never in just his normal gear. he's always had to use Kryptonite, and in TDKR he had a big robot suit thing, but still didn't win. so, with prep time, yeah, bats could take supes, because Bats owns a chunk of Kryptonite. otherwise, he wouldn't even be able to hurt him.

remember, this contest is all about no prep time, and everyone NORMAL arsenal. but i'd still give this one to Bats! :)
