Sherlock Holmes grossed $500 million dollars worldwide so a sequel was quickly greenlit. Empire caught up with Jude Law at the 45th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and had this to report:

"It looks likely that we're going to shoot the second Sherlock Holmes in October," he told Empire's own Damon Wise, suggesting that Guy Ritchie and his writers aren't too far off a completed script and some intriguing casting announcements.

Law remained coy about the project only stating “I don't know yet where the story will go.” Money for the leads had been a possible sticking point for getting everyone to return but that issue was quickly put to bed after the solid grosses.
“I had so much fun making Sherlock Holmes that the question of how much money it would make just wasn't one of my priorities. Of course I was really pleased it was such a success but mostly because that will give me the opportunity to work with Robert and Guy again.”

The bigger question that was reported here two weeks ago was who will play Professor Moriarty? It seems director Guy Ritchie is rumored to want Daniel Day-Lewis although actors Javier Bardem, Sean Penn and Gary Oldman have also been mentioned.
