James Gunn Says A GROOT And ROCKET RACCOON Movie Could Possibly Happen

Rocket Raccoon and Groot are said to be one of Marvel's best duos of all time. James Gunn gives his input and says "there's a great Rocket and Groot movie" that could possibly happen after and/or during the events of the Guardians of the Galaxy films. Check it out!

While speaking with ComicBook.com, James Gunn (the director of Guardians of the Galaxy) tells which members of the team he could most likely see getting their own film. "I'd like to see solo features from all of them. Obviously there's a great Rocket and Groot movie that could come out of this. I love many of the characters. I love all these characters so much," He then tells why he wouldn't want to see someone direct these 'solo features' if they were to happen. "It's hard to say who I would like to see made into a solo movie by someone else. It depends on who that someone else is." He then continues, "The truth is, I'd rather not see a solo movie made poorly by someone who didn't understand the character and whose heart wasn't in it." We've seen a lot of Rocket Raccoon and Groot in the past few months, and we are only going to see much more. With that said, if Marvel did make Guardians of the Galaxy spin off films, who would you want to see on the big screen most? Also, would you want James Gunn to direct these, or someone else? Sound off below with your thoughts!

Guardians of the Galaxy is a 2014 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name, produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is the tenth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film was directed by James Gunn, who wrote the screenplay with Nicole Perlman, and features an ensemble cast including Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, and Benicio del Toro. In Guardians of the Galaxy, Peter Quill forms an uneasy alliance with a group of extraterrestrial misfits who are on the run after stealing a coveted orb.

@Jeight

They're fun characters but, not even remotely. Star Wars is timeless. I was referring to the fact that when The Force Awakens comes out, it will once again be brought to the forefront of pop culture. Funny thing is, Star Wars never really left. It was always culturally relevant.

@Nick56

And lol at people comparing Guardians to Star Wars.

@BatManHeisenberg

What dingbat said, Chewie and Han are forever the Chewie and Han of this generation (and any generation starting from 1977); but you could say Groot and Rocket took inspiration from that duo.

@Nick56

That dumb shit needs to stop

People keep saying star wars is timeless but is it really because when I ask most people i know who are young adults like myself haven't watched a star wars movie nor are they interested in seeing one.

More one-shots would be perfect.

As for spinoffs, I think a Nova Corps movie or a Yondu movie might be cool. But keep the Guardians together.

I too don't get the huge praise/hype. I didn't even think the film was too great, TWS was miles better.

just because u haven't seen it doesn't mean it's timeless.
that's like saying "I don't know about this, therefore it doesn't exist."

No. Put your fanboy delusions aside. Star Wars and it's characters will always be relevant, and EVERYONE knows and loves Han and Chewie. Regardless of what year kids grow up in Star Wars will always be there.

@TheRationalNerd Yea, i wish they would bring the one-shots back and give them more meat. Like Pixar intro cartoon level...10-12 min long and run BEFORE new marvel movies. Make them totally unrelated..like get a Rocket and Groot before Civil War...
RRA
RRA - 11/26/2014, 7:37 PM
This can work. Take Mantlo's RR mini-series from the 80s, since has a broad story outline it has good materials for a film. Just insert Groot, show how these two meet.

Also did I mention that mini-series is full of evil clowns?

I made a rather innocent comment and everyone gets butthurt. People need to chill. And I hope it's a One Shot as well.
