Late last year, Toho announced that they would be producing their first Godzilla film in 12 years. Toho said that "the time has come to make a film that will not bow down to the Hollywood film." All details and information for the film is said to be released during the 2015 Godzi-Con. Take a look at the first teaser poster below!

Godzilla (ゴジラ Gojira?) is a giant monster or daikaiju originating from a series of tokusatsu films of the same name from Japan. He first appeared in Ishirō Honda's 1954 film Godzilla. Since then, Godzilla has gone on to become a worldwide pop culture icon starring in 28 films produced by Toho Co., Ltd. The character has appeared in numerous other medium incarnations including video games, novels, comic books, and television series. A 1998 American reimagining was produced by Tri-Star Pictures (the title monster of which was renamed to Zilla by Toho for later appearances), while a second American version by Legendary Pictures was released on May 16, 2014.The character is commonly alluded to by the title King of the Monsters, an epithet first used in the Americanized version of Ishiro Honda's original 1954 film.

2014 GODZILLA was cool..for the last 20 min or so.
Need more action like the end of that film.

I realize they were going for a JAWS feel..slowly revealing the creature but I want more action in my monster movies.
Hope the American sequel will fix that.

Toho distributed the "hollywood" 2014 Godzilla film in Japan........so they won't bow down but they will cash the checks? ok that just makes them look whiny / petty.

@Grif

TOHO is making a new Japanese Godzilla movie because Gareth Edward's GODZILLA movie was SUCCESSFUL, not because it was shitty or another horrible american attempt. Because they want to jump back into the ring while the monster game is presently, still hot on the market.

This article really needs to be updated with the proper information.

@grif Toho's president was so emotional and happy with Godzila (2014) that it brought him to tears and he thanked Thomas Tull for bringing back the Godzilla he watched as a child.
