'Spider-Man', 'Black Panther', & 'Vision' To Have Strong Arcs In CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

The Russo Brothers had a bit more to say about the upcoming Captain America: Civil War film! After talking about their realistic and grounded take on Spider-man, they now reveal that the Wall-crawler, Black Panther, and the Vision will have strong arcs in the film...

In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, before Wizard World New Orleans, the Russo Brothers, who have spoken about Captain America: Civil War a lot in past few days, revealed that Spider-Man, Black Panther, and the Vision, will all have strong arcs in the final(?) Captain America film. "It's a big movie and it includes a lot of characters. I think that a lot of them have really interesting arcs. I think Spider-Man in particular has a really fascinating arc." Said Joe Russo. Anthony Russo then chimed in and said, "Certainly Black Panther, who we introduce. Similarly there, introducing a character gives you a great opportunity to take them on a ride, you know?" Last but not least, Joe ended off the exchange by adding, "Vision goes on a journey, as well."

Based on what we've seen in the trailer, Black Panther will play a huge role in the film, and based on what the Russo Bros. said about Spider-Man in various interviews, he will also play a big part. As for the Vision, I'l guess we'll just have to wait and see what he brings to the film. The only thing know about him in the film, is what we've seen from the Comic-Con trailer. What's your take on all of this? Share it in the comment section below!

Starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Chadwick Boseman, Emily VanCamp, Daniel Brühl, Frank Grillo, William Hurt, and Martin Freeman, Captain America: Civil Waris set to be released on May 6th, 2016. Who side are you on?

Everything they've been promising, I BELIEVE THEY'LL DELVER. I feel like everything they say is just honest and it's reassuring that they sound so confident in their statements.

"Don't know if fans are ready for what they have in store for Civil War"

I think this is one of the things the Russos may be delivering that fans may not be ready for

According to the Funk POP figures it also seems Agent 13 will be sort of the Mockingbird of the movies, it seems she has batons in her hands in that figure, I wanted Adrianne Palicki in the movies

Well that trailer was edited reallll good then because this movie looks like it has nothing to do with any superheroes except Cap, Bucky, and Iron Man, with sprinkles of Widow, Falcon, and Panther.

@SterlingArcher even though we have Mockingbird, and Daredevil they had to give her f@cking batons

This movie definitely cannot be considered a third film in the Captain America franchise...

Yeah, I'm generally really optimistic about the movie as well, especially since the Russo Bros talking about it just gives the impression they know what they're doing and they'll deliver. But there are those few moments when I truly realize that aside from the already serious and intimate stuff with the established players like Cap/Bucky/Falcon vs Tony/Natasha/Rhodey they also introduce big names like Spidey and T'Challa and develop characters like Vision and Wanda.

Just... wow! :O

Vision is going to have to fight Wanda, which will tear him apart, making him turn on Tony which makes Tony sadder than Tobey Maguire when he was Peter Parker

@Thebest201 it's going to focus on Cap, it's got Cap in it, it's titled CAPTAIN AMERICA Civil War. Yeah it's the third Cap film for sure.

It just dawned on me that Ant-Man is still considered a vigilante as well right?

Did the police know who he was during the finale of the film?

Underlying theme of Civil War, in my opinion:

Being the leader of a country, BP is always going to be a public figure to some extent. This would make it hard for him to understand Captain America's anti-government position.

Also, with no clear cut enemy for the world to face right now, (assuming Hydra is pretty much dismantled, besides what AOS is dealing with & Crossbones, whom we don't know entirely who he's working with in CIVIL War; he's a relatively small threat alone) it's easy to find reasons to make the Avengers the enemy. Collateral damage is the catalyst for the adversarial classification being put upon the Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

For me, this film will not only be a Captain America movie but the real Avengers flick that we should've got last summer.

I agree, it'll be as much a Captain America movie as Avenger 2 was a Hawkeye movie

Auto correct is a B*TCH. Meant to say Everytime I *Hear something said* about this movie or phase 3

I'm really looking forward to this now. If anyone had told me back in 2008 that, of all the things Marvel are doing on the big screen, Captain America would have the makings of my favourite Marvel series, I'd have (metaphorically) laughed in their face. But I loved the Indiana Jones vibe of The First Avenger, and loved the sort of Bourne/new-Bond vibe of The Winter Soldier, and Civil War looks really promising too.

I hope all these subplots don't mess the film up (I think TWS's main strength was that it told a pretty tight, concentrated story with only one or two closely related subplots) but, as this is arguably Marvel's biggest movie to date, I doubt they'd let that happen. Plus the Russo's are pretty damn good at what they do. I'm still a little iffy on Spider-Man being introduced in this and what role he'll play, and I'm intrigued to see how Black Panther fits into all of it, but still... this looks really [frick]ing good.

In fact, dare I say it, I think I'm more excited for this than Batman v Superman (which feels so wrong on so many levels).

@TheRationalNerd- Are you saying we should've just gotten Civil War last tea and no Age of Ultron? How so? By the looks of things this movie needed seeding of Age of Ultron just as much as it needs The Winter Soldier

@TheRationalNerd that completely went over my head with Ant-Man... Does that mean he's basically the only MCU superhero (except Spidey) to have a secret identity (Falcon, Hank, Janet, the heist crew, his wife, her cop husband, and his daughter notwithstanding)? Maybe it's sort of an open secret but nobody really knows or cares because Scott isn't a public figure anyway (in the way the other Avengers were either pre- or post-superpowers).
AC1
AC1 - 1/9/2016, 10:12 AM
But yeah, this should be better than Age of Ultron at any rate. I liked AOU (more than the first Avengers movie anyway) but I'll agree that it left a lot to be desired - and it doesn't help that it was chopped to pieces in the editing room. We definitely should've had an extended cut on blu ray to make up for that at least.

Oddly, this will probably be the BEST AVENGERS film when it hits in May.

No offense to Whedon, I love what he's done. But I think the Russos are just going to knock it out of the park, despite having 12 characters to juggle.

I'm starting to believe the rumor that Vision will go into space at the end of the film. He will probably take the place of Silver Surfer and Adam Warlock in the Infinity War films.

He is kind of the best parts of both of those characters.

The arcs I'm most excited for are T'Challa's, Bucky's, and Vision's.

Cap won't die in this film.

But he might a) be put in a coma or b) be arrested and incarcerated.

@HappyHater

Lol, hated the Hawkeye farmhouse scene. smh Even the scene when he was talking to Scarlet Witch was corny... "I'm just a guy with bows and arrows" Like...shut up! Love Renner but he's a lame Hawkeye. Still a great actor (The Town) but average Hawkeye. I'm sure Civil War will make me eat my words. lol

@XelCorp

Logically speaking it would be retarded of me to say that. lol Sorry about the confusion, but quality wise I strongly feel as if this will be a greater utilization of characters placing them into a more believable darker mindsets/circumstances than within AoU. If it wasn't for Vision the events in AoU could be easily explained/reflected upon within mere minutes in Civil War.

@AC1

Yupp, I was watching Ant-Man the other day with my pops and it seemed as if the only person who really knew about his identity outside of his heist crew, Pym and his daughter was his daughter's stepfather who was a police officer. When I went down the roll call for Civil War it dawned on me that he's still a vigilante. So now that basically makes...

-Spider-Man
-Black Panther
-Ant-Man
-Daredevil
-Iron Fist (just automatically assuming)

New vigilantes of the MCU. Hawkeye would've easily had that too but...yeah

@Jeight

Oh no, I have to STRONGLY disagree with you that there. First off, these guys are not Gods but their understanding and defining within numerous heroes and story elements surrounding them just adds the weight you look for within CBMs being more than just popcorn fun and action. There are still high stakes and those stakes strongly take a toll on the characters. The simple fact that THEY get to continue the Avengers films from where they'll leave most of these characters in Civil War is what makes me astonishingly happy to see them resume, expand and conclude this tremendous story arc that many earlier MCU directors helped sculpt out. Whedon will be missed but his tonal shifting in most characters aside from their predecessing films won't be. And I know I'm not the only one here who feels this way.

Second, they have more than enough time to prepare themselves for both Infinity War films. This isn't a case where they're just hoping from film A to film B in a timespan of 2 years, they've got some serious time to do even more plotting and building for the finale of this franchise to deliver in every huge way possible. Moreover we should look at the same detailing surrounding the writers for both of the upcoming films as well.

Lastly, of course it's still a Captain America film but it DOES contain Avengers related characters so for me it feels like an accumulation of the both greater sides colliding into one film. Even Fiege dropped hints that the first film to kick off phase three could be an Avengers film a long time ago before we all knew any of the details we know now. Everyone thought it was going to be New Avengers back then but here we are today and it's Civil War.

@VISIONaryNPa- Lol she did not say "You know what coming". She says "You know what's about to happen... Do you reall wanna punch your way out of this?". And this was during the Airport scene so she was definitley talking to Cap and not The Vision.
