Rumors are circulating that the Doctor Curt Connors/The Lizard will be the villain in the upcoming Spidey reboot. Since nothing is set in stone as to who will play the main antagonist in the film and with the hopes of the reboot being successful, these are the villains I would love to see in the film(s). Below are the actors I believe would portray the beloved baddies of Spidey’s world the best.
Bryan Cranston- Norman Osborn/the Green Goblin
Mentioned in my previous fancast,he’s a great actor and I believe he’d make an amazing Norman/GG. Click the link to checkout my non-villain Spidey Fancast

Eddie Brock/Venom- Sam Witwer
Honestly this one was the most difficult for me…I was also considering Jensen Ackles (Supernatural) for the role, but Witwer won me over. If he dyed his hair blonde he’d physically look the part. From an acting standpoint, Sam would give us the REAL Eddie we’ve been waiting to see (As reference, watch the 1st season of ‘Dexter’ and I’m sure you’ll agree; disregard his portrayal of Doomsday in ‘Smallville’) If Webb’s reboot is successful (AS IN, IF ITS GOOD), the smart thing he should do *HINT HINT* is to justifiably re-do the Symbiote Saga. If he does, he’ll most likely take the modern spin of Brock (i.e. the comic series Ultimate Spider-Man & TV’s ‘The Spectacular Spider-Man’) Where Brock is in college, he & Peter are friends and their families have history (both Pete’s & Eddie’s parents were friends/partners and died in a plane crash). Also, Venom is one of Spider-Man’s greatest villains and does NOT die 10 min after he’s introduced AND he’s not a crybaby who shows his face 90% of the time!! He’s a raging pissed off alien monster and should be portrayed as such!!!!
Hugh Laurie- Dr. Curt Connors/the Lizard
For those who for some reason dislike English actors/actresses portraying American characters, well… no worries when it comes to Laurie; he has mastered an American accent (like, say…Christian Bale??). He looks the part and his acting ability is nothing short of great (‘House’ people!!! He even plays a freaking doctor!!!!). I believe he could play the good hearted Doc AND his reptilian alter-ego gloriously.
The Sinister Six needs to be in a Spidey film!!!
Phillip Seymour Hoffman- Dr. Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus
With dyed brown hair & a bowl cut, you’ve got the perfect Master Planner: Otto Octavius! (I don’t even have to go into talent because he’s a fantastic actor!) Unlike Raimi’s portrayal of Doc Ock, Otto is a bad guy through and through…he doesn’t have a revelation from an unmasked Spidey that he’s not a bad guy; only his mechanical arms are. No, Octavius is a bad guy and always will be. It is for that reason I choose Hoffman because I believe he’d play the Doctor Octopus we’ve all been waiting to see fantastically!!
Gerard Butler- Sergei Kravinov/Kraven the Hunter
Gerard Butler is the perfect choice for Kravinov, both from an acting standpoint and appearance. If they do in fact make the Lizard Spidey’s enemy in the upcoming film, I believe it is essential to bring Kraven in as well. As much as I’d love to see the Lizard and as epic as it would be to see him & Spidey tangle in the sewers on the big screen, I don‘t think he can carry the entire film as Spidey’s only threat. Establish Connors as the Lizard and the FNSM trying to stop him, all the while introduce Butler as Kraven who’s hunting them both and you might just have an amazing movie on your hands!
Giovanni Ribisi- Max Dillon/Electro
Aside from looking the part, Ribisi is a great actor and doesn’t contain himself to only one type of genre. From comedy to drama, he would make a fantastic Max Dillon and an even better Electro.
Adam Baldwin- Flint Marko/the Sandman
This one took me a while, because I wasn’t looking for just look-alikes, I was looking for the talent as well; and Baldwin has both. He’s been in a whole bunch of movies: from minor but good parts like Independence Day, to memorably fantastic roles such as Animal Mother in ‘Full Metal Jacket’, CIA agent John Casey on TV’s ‘Chuck’ & mercenary Jayne Cobb from ‘Serenity’ & TV’s ‘Firefly’. Baldwin could play the Sandman we’ve wanted to see: a formidable adversary of Spidey’s that had didn’t accidentally kill his Uncle (as in, HE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH UNCLE BEN’S DEATH…AT ALL) and says he’s ‘not a bad guy, I just have bad luck’. Flint Marko is a crook who gets superpowers in a freak accident, not a guy who’s trying to get money for his daughter’s operation to save her life!!! As I was saying, I choose Adam Baldwin as Flint Marko.
Sir Ben Kingsley- Adrian Toomes /the Vulture
Dude…this one took two seconds to come to me. An amazing actor that looks
exactly like Toomes and I think he’s the only guy that could bring him to life the best. Toomes is a cranky old man who happens to be an evil genius and invents a flying suit to take revenge on those who have scorned him. Sir Kingsley is the man to portray the big bad birdman.
Matt Dillon- Quentin Beck /Mysterio
He seems to be favored by fans to portray Sandman, but I have to disagree. I believe he would play an awesome Mysterio instead; he has that perfect seriousness/kookiness about him in his acting that would best be used as the quirky deranged illusionist.
Other great Spidey villains we probably won’t see on the silver screen…but if we do, and I HOPE WE DO, here’s who I think should portray said villains:
Timothy Olyphant-Mac Gargan/the Scorpion
From Sheriff Seth Bullock on HBO’s ‘Deadwood’, to the bad-ass portrayal of ‘Hitman’, and more recently as the hot-headed guy with swagger Deputy Marshall Raylan Givens on one of my favorite TV shows, ‘Justified’, Olyphant has shown time and time again that he’s a great actor. As Mac Gargan, I believe Mr. Olyphant could portray the hot-tempered spider-killer flawlessly in the way no other actor could. And because of that fact, Timothy Olyphant should be the Scorpion.
Matthew Lillard- Cletus Kasady/Carnage
He scared the hell out of us as Stu Macher in ‘Scream’, playing the sadistic killer in the film, which would be familiar territory portraying Kasady, and laugh in other roles, like Stevo in ‘SLC Punk!’ (Love that movie, if you haven’t seen it I recommend it! Jason Segal is firkin amazingly hilarious in that movie!) & Jerry Conlaine in ‘Without a Paddle’. Having the ability to play comedic & demented roles, Lillard could combine the two to create the darkly comedic serial-killer Cletus Kasady. Kasady bonds with the spawn of Venom’s symbiote to become Carnage! I believe Lillard is the actor to portray Kasady the best.
Dominic Purcell- The Rhino
Known mainly as the prison escapee Lincoln Burrows form TV’s ‘Prison Break’, Purcell would be the perfect Rhino. In both looks & character, Purcell is the man for the job.
As a bonus ladies & gents, I’ve finally found who could play the perfect Betty Brant AND Mary Jane Watson:
Zooey Deschanel- Betty Brant
This one took some thinking; until I realized it was a no-brainer…Deschanel is a very talented and beautiful young actress who could play the role of Ms. Brant superbly. Honestly it isn’t a stretch, because she was the leading lady in director Marc Webb’s ‘500 Days of Summer’ and I’m sure she’d love to portray Betty & work for Webb again. In my opinion, she’s the perfect choice.’
AND
Elena Satine- Mary Jane Watson
Wow. This gorgeous and multi-talented actress not only wants to play the role of MJ, but she is a huge fan of the Marvel comic-verse as well!! A special thanks to TANKGIRL for the pic and the following article as to why Satine should be our MJ in which said actress replied to the article and is flattered! She even gave a shout-out to TANKGIRL in a tweet and encouraged people to vote for her in TANKGIRL’s pole! Now that’s an awesome actress. Grats TANKGIRL! Like I was saying, I know I wanted Mary Elizabeth Winstead for MJ, but that was before I discovered the beautiful Ms. Satine! Elena Satine is our Mary Jane!!! Check out TANKGIRL's article:
