Is This The Real Reason Shailene Woodley Was Cut From THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2?

In the comics, MJ was there to comfort Peter after Gwen's death. How is that going to happen in the movies if they haven't even met? They don't have to start dating right away.

But honestly, I think they should recast the role. She actually looks like she'd be Andrew Garfield's sister. And also, she doesn't look model material at all.

If this is true, then Gwen will probably be killed at the end of TASM 2 by the Goblin, leaving it on a cliffhanger of sorts. I just REALLY hope that the rumor about Goblin's suit is false.

Yeah well, I don't buy it. Shailene Woodley's Role In Amazing Spider-Man 2 Was ONLY an introduction to the character and in no way shape or form a conflict for Peter And Gwen's storyline. It it was a love triangle storyline then I would understand if they deleted those scenes. Sarah Gadon was casted right when sony decides to give shailene the shaft and since filming already wrapped and reports are that she is indeed filming a Brief scene in the sequel sounds very strange to me especially with the rumors going around that they are filming a face it tiger you just hit the jackpot mid credit scene. Granted, when movieweb leaked this out people went ape shit because if there is any truth to it then it's shady and makes sony look bad but in a sense just a smart business decision on their end. Yes I Am also aware that Sarah Gadon denied the mary jane rumors but lets not forget that this is not the first time an actor has LIED to protect things from leaking out. I detect that sarah gadon is pulling a marion colitard on her role simply to calm the masses and IF she is playing mary jane by the time the film comes out, no one will really give a shit anymore and just care about seeing the film.

I mean seriously ? They are going to redo the same introduction scenes to Mary Jane In The Third film right after the death of gwen ? That even sounds more screwed up. Either way, whether it be before or after it's just an intro to the character and like I said I dont buy it at all. Makes no sense at all. Before or After Peter will eventually be with mary jane and there is no harm in three little scenes that don't even interfere with the relationship between peter and gwen. It also goes farther away from the comic book storyline origins of the friendships between harry, peter, gwen, and mary jane. Granted if Shailene Woodley's role was the same as bryce dallas howards gwen stacy in spider-man 3 where the character was put there to make mary jane jealous then yes, understandable but it's obvious from the scenes shot that it does not go that way at all.

I still doubt that they're killing Gwen in this one. It's just so predictable. Everyone expects it. I it were me I'd let people believe it, and use those expectations to surprise the audience.

But then, I also would NEVER title the movie Amazing Spider-Man 2, so what do I know?

Also why in the blue hell would they have her in the death of gwen stacy outfit for then ? Like as if she would wear it again in the third. She is wearing it near the bridge for a GOOD reason...

That's the whole thing though, Mary jane was just being introduced as the next door neighbor and only shot three scenes in the movie. It does not even get to the point of interference between gwen and peter. You would think that prior to shooting the film you would have figured this out by now and not at the last minute ? I don't think that sony would EVER admit to giving the girl the shaft because fans went apeshit and complained about shailene as mary jane. Sony cut the damn film and panicked when people who first saw the uncut untold story version that it was a rip off of ang lee's hulk and was expecting it to be more like the sam raimi version. It went from being a planned spider bite and peter being led to that room for a reason because the key to perfecting the oscorp formula is in his blood to an accidental spider bite just like the sam raimi version. The deleted scenes on the dvd were not even close to how much they actually cut and proof is in the trailers. Point Being, My theory is that it was a smart business decision because sony wants to keep the spider-man rights and is always changing shit to please the fans. They did the same shit with spider-man 3 when fans were not pleased with the vulture being in the film and wanted venom so they changed shit at last minute to please the fans. This is not the first time sony has done this and like I said pleasing fans = More $$$.

It makes sense and but stil it would work if she is already an established character in the film series rather than have Gwen die and then just some other girl comes out of nowhere.

Here's where I am most certainly NOT okay with this.

In spiderman 3 and issue I had was that they pulled Gwen out of Nowhere. If she had at least been introduced in Spiderman 2 in the huge elongated mesh that it was, it could've given more reason and depth to the love triangle.

She doesn't have to date Peter, just befriend, if anyone Gwen as a girl buddy so she wouldn't just poof into the next movie as "Oh hey! I'm the new love interest." and there could be, I don't know, CHARACTER GROWTH?!

Dang this movie is sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. The only great thing going for this movie is the next X Men movie!
