@ComicCritic87- I was thinking something similar to what you are saying. I was pondering that the way Super girl is dressed could be a great way the creators can introduce power girls way of dressing.

That first Superman cover is very well done. Subtle use of slightly duller colors adds a bunch of emphasis to the offset Supes, it has a little bit more flavor than the "HEY, HERE I AM IN THE MIDDLE" covers we see so much of (cough, Green Latner Corps #1 cough). You know what they say about books and covers though, I'm just commenting.

I love how the humans feel Superboy is a threat to earth. I mean a guy like super boy having all those powers can be scary to someone who doesn't have powers.

Every time I see that new suit, I have internal bleeding. At least I can live with Kara's new attire. She's looking more Power Girl now.

DC's trying to "marvelize' Superman with the "people hate him and are scared" and "he's more Kal less Clark" storyline... SMH

You can always count on Ed... I have never seen any "gayer" pics of Superman than these! Good Christ! Please tell me this is a joke. I've always said, " No point in fighting it, gays have been here since the discovery of genitals. Let 'em marry...whatever...why the Hell should I care what others do?" I was wrong. The desensitization has now crossed over to one of my favorite super heroes. Supes will be dating Olsen soon. Think I'll become a Southern Baptist.

These covers suck! I thought DC was known more for their artwork than for their writing?!? Marvel definitely has better artwork and by the looks of it better writing too. SMDH. -_-

JULEZ13 - 8/11/2011, 9:17 PM
Well the first one has a good composition, but the artwork style seems dated on all of them! ESPECIALLY the George Perez one! That guy seriously needs to update his drawing style! Keep up with the times, George!!

Is that action comics cover giving anyone else Xmen vibes?

@ mastarockafella -- If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, on the first cover, that's his cape you're seeing, not a collar.

Exactly the way his cape has traditionally been attached to his shirt, actually.

No $hit! Perez needs to update his style??? What a clueless statement that is. Should Frazetta have "updated his style"??? How about Picasso? You freakin terd for brains. Its ARTWORK! It's not dated.

Perez is one of the most accomplished and sought after artists of his time. You may be one of these idiots that needs the costume design updated to suit your idiotic tastes but you dont update an artists style to fit some kind of new modern method. His style is what make him unique same as Kirby, Starlin, Miller and every other top artist in the medium.

derp a derp.
niknik
niknik - 8/11/2011, 10:43 PM
I'll take Perez over nearly every single crap artist that marvel and DC are using on the cheap to keep their costs down today. Nothing but a bunch of $hitty hacks illustrating 90% of the titles they are filling the shelves with today.

@Froggy said: "I am actually really liking these suits!

I just don;t like the way Supes is being drawn in the Superman line. I like how Jim Lee is drawing him in Justice League though. It will get better over time."

I completely 100% agree with this. Jim's Lee Superman in Justice league looks perfect and the new suit looks perfect in JL. But the new suit in the new Superman comic looks awkward.

Superman is my favorite fictional character by far but I'm actually not that excited for the Superman line reboot. I'm much much more excited for the Action Comics reboot and the JLA reboot.

That short sleeve shirt with the cape is pretty fugazy.

niknik- I've never been a fan of Perez's style, but i certainly agree with everything you said. My all time favortie Superman artist has always been Kerry Gammill and even though his style is not as "updated" as everyone seems to want, i wouldn't want him to change it for the world. Oddly enough, looking at both art styles, they're quite similar... i have no clue why i don't enjoy Perez's style as much. It boggles me senseless.
