Superman's Lost Team-Up With Tennessee Tuxedo

Superman's Lost Team-Up With Tennessee Tuxedo

Okay, this is definitely lightening things up a bit: turns out that back in the '60s Superman and Tennessee Tuxedo (voiced by Don Adams) teamed up for a Soaky Toys commercial. Yeah, we know: what's a soaky toy?

Soaky toys were plastic bottles in the form of a cartoon character that was filled with bubble bath. When the bottle was empty, you'd have a new toy to play with in the bathtub! Genius, huh?

In any case, we came across this vintage commercial which brought the Man of Steel and cartoon character Tennessee Tuxedo together to let kids know about Soaky Toys!

I remember these.

I know I had the animated Superman one on the left at some point. Can't remember what others I used to get.

I had an Optimus Prime bubblebath container when I was a kid. I couldnt wait for it to be empty so I played with it in bed one night and spilled the soapy crap all over me. Bummer!

Fun stuff! Tennessee Tuxedo was one of my favorites as a kid, as part of the Underdog show.

Jdukes: Cool collection!

@comicb00kguy I don't actually have all of those, that's just a pic of some of the superman ones. I was just saying I used to have the one on the left, the animated Superman one.

The mind is a glorious thing, Gusto, too bad you glory is deminishing.

@JorLBola- Tennessee Tuxedo was a B-grade Saturday morning show; had a walrus pal named Chumly. I remember watching it when I was like 6, maybe? It's not really good enough for reruns. Maybe on Boomerang. But back in dinosaur times he was right up there in popularity with Supes. Weird, huh?
