Terminator Salvation Director's Cut Rated-R For Violence and Brief Moongod Nudity

I know when people heard about Moon Bloodgood's nude scene being cut from the movie a lot of people were ready to hate on Mcg(more than they already do). Well for the fan-boys you can go back to squirtin' your pants, because it's coming back baby!!!

In May, the last time Peter reported on the issue, the official line was something like this:

Director McG only cut one shot in "Terminator Salvation" to earn the PG-13 rating. The quick cut involved featuring Sam Worthington’s character Marcus “stabbing a screwdriver through the shoulder” of a thug. McG claims that in the end the Moon Bloodgood shot “felt more like a gratuitous moment of a girl taking her top off in an action picture, and I didn’t want that to convolute the story or the characters.”

So the MPAA's rating doesn't really dispute the earlier reports about what was taken out of the movie, but calling it a Director’s Cut causes you to ponder his respectability.

It's not technically a directors cut if all you do is put in deleted scenes. Maybe there's something he hasn't told us...Something we don't know yet. Who knows?

I know what you must be thinking: Why would you cut that stuff? I would have loved to see Sam sticking a screw driver through some guy. It makes him that much more bad ass. That mixed with seeing Bloodgood topless. Who cares about 13 year-olds not seeing this movie? More older people would go to see a bad ass movie like this, and teenagers just want another movie to sneak into anyway.

But will this really effect the movie much? Does this effect how you feel about the movie? I thought the movie was good and a squeal would be the shit, and I really don't think adding these two scenes would have done anything better for the ratings.

An R rating would have done nothing but increased the haul for this shitty flic. I would have been psyched to see it as opposed to feeling 'meh' about it when I went. I saw nothing but logic holes the entire way through and Sam Worthington was not that good lol. Some of his scenes just felt faked and I didn't buy him as a character, but as an actor playing a character. It was like Costner in 'Wyatt Earp'.

The movie was decent. But it should have been much better. And if McHack and the studio had the balls to make it R rated in the first place it probably would have been.

Personally, I think we're in need of an overhaul to the movie ratings system. If the two scenes mentioned above are the only thing keeping this movie from being rated R, something is wrong....I would bet that both breasts and screwdriver attacks have happened in PG-13 movies before. They should have just let them keep the scenes and still had it be PG-13.

The sad fact is though, it makes perfect sense to do it this way from a marketing perspective. PG-13 in the theater, more cash from bringin' in the kiddies. R or Unrated DVD of the same film, more money from bringin' in the ones who either already saw it and want to see something new, or for fans like us who didn't like it, but would get suckered in to buying/watching it again in case it was somehow drastically different from the original release that we didn't care for.

That is what we call "Maximizing Potential". In a way, they're using us and the scepticism and mistrust we have about film studios to sell more product. This is why, to me at least, the only way to fix this problem is to do away with the PG-13 and R ratings and change it to something else entirely.

I will also refrain from bashing McG for removing these scenes, and will continue to only bash him for his silly name. Lets face it everyone, if you directed this movie, and they said hey, you gotta take out these two tiny scenes that are non-essential to any plot point in your movie, and it will bring in a much wider audience, which in turn will allow you to make a shit ton more money at the theatrical release, and then you can release your "original vision" on a director's cut dvd 4 months later, you'd all be linin' up to cash the checks too...I know I would. Its a classic case of "Don't hate the player, hate the game". Its got nothing to do with balls, and everything to do with profitability and survival.

Eh, you all have probably thought of this already at some point, but I digress. Its good to just get it out of your system sometimes.

I'll still let you pull the wool over my eyes, hollywood, cause most times, I still dig your style. But you should know, at least, that I'm not alone in knowing the wool is being pulled.

Speaking of Moon Bloodgood...did anybody else used to watch Journeyman? I really liked that show, but it doesn't look like it'll be coming out on dvd anytime soon...

I enjoyed the theatrical version, those two parts will enhance my enjoyment of the dvd a little. There's always the possibility that there are more deleted scenes than they've told us about...

i see no purpose for showing nudity in films.
I am quite glad McG cut that scene out because that would have ruined the experience for me.
unfortunatley, most would see my idea of a good movie as outdated.
i love violence in film because that catches my imagination.
i am not a big fan of cursing even if it is plot diven.
but what is the point of showing nudity really?
is it to get the guys in the crowd howling?
dont get me wrong. i know that these actresses are beautiful beyond compare. i just dont think that they need to reveal anything that would compromise their integrity.
and also hollywood already has their actresses almost wearing nothing.
i hope the extended cut of T4 doesnt have the nude scene in it.
that is what destroyed my opinion of watchmen.
that and the f-bomb.
many people are gonna read this opinion and think i am insane, out of date, or at worst: gay.
i can assure you that i am none of these things.
i would just prefer that when it comes to nudity, i would leave it in the bedroom.

I just think its funny that some people have no problrm with watching horrific, gory acts of brutal violence, but someone says a word([frick]) or takes their cloths off and it offends their sensibilities. Nudity is natural. Its part of us. Sure movies use it in a gratuitous way sometimes but its still just a pair of freaking boobs! Likewise the F bomb. Its a word. Most people curse. But Im not sure of the last time I walked down the street and saw a guy get him arms sawn off with an angle grinder. Thats the problem with these movies. They have no problem with young teenagers watching violence and carnage but a pair of breast and a cuss word will warp their tiny little minds!

Totally agree what you just said.

The movie was "meh" for me...It could of been way way better...but I'll be burning this film when it comes to the RED BOX :)

It has the potential to be a true directors cut.

There were ALOT of scenes cut from the final product...some of which that were very important to the story.

I can't wait to buy this movie. I just hope mcg shows us all the stuff we didn't get to see.

Side not: I hope we get to see the T600s with the plastic skin. They looked much scarier originally with the plastic masks. It's unfortunate that they decided to go with a cgi cover up for the final product.
