The last we heard from The Crow, was that it was getting the standard reboot. And speaking with MTV , producer Edward Pressman, gave some updates for the new installment.

It was previously reported that Stephen Norrington (Blade) is set to write and direct the new Crow film and apparently everything is looking good for the next chapter. Pressman said that "Norrington's screenplay is finished and, terrific."
He also talked about the illustrations for the film, which are being made by Avatar production designer Rob Stromberg. He said that the illustrations are "quite different from Alex Proyas' approach with the original Crow."

Even though there is still no actors attached to the project, Pressman confirmed that "the offer is out to a major actor and things are moving ahead very aggressively, with the aim of doing the film this year."

One more thing he talked about are the locations and where will the film take place:

"The setting is the southwest — the Mexico/Arizona area, and an urban setting. There are two locations that the film is set. Its initial platform is in the southwest and then it moves to the big city in the north, middle or eastern America, and then back."

So there you go. What are your thoughts about the reboot?

"Yes it is titled the crow, but it is a different story about different characters, so no one is going to replace brandon lee's eric draven."

how you know its not Eric Draven they using for this Crow movie. Brandon Lee was great as Eric Draven in the Crow. their was even a TV series "The Crow: Stairway to Heaven" they used the same character from the movie Eric Draven but it was played by Mark Dacascos.

but aint The Crow movies its own Reboot since they keep on changing all the time.

I actually liked Marc Dacascos' Draven better than Brandon Lee's.

Why don't they just NOT. To be honest the only reason the Crow was a success is cause Brandon Lee was killed making the first one. And it was terrible, but not as bad as the sequel.

Whether it's with the Eric Draven character or not is still under wraps until we get more word on it. It is true that the films and stories after the first dealt with different individuals besides Eric. This further showed that the 'Crow' was something more omninous and that is was a supernatural force that could give its gift to anyone who died with great anger and sadness. Atleast the re(make/boot?) will show a different perspective and side to the legend rather than an instant remake. And the original film actually deviated from the source material if you didn't know yet so it could also help to show something different for the film.

@Number21

I don't mean to pry but 'Queen of the Damned' starred Aaliyah and her death didn't 'help' the film any bit either.

I was a big fan of the original but also read the James Obarr comic before the movie ever came out and REALLY loved that and frankly, thought there was a lot the original film missed (don't even get me started on the sequels) - not that I'm too thrilled about a new one (re-boot, remake, sequel or otherwise) but I guess I'll wait to judge. Who knows, maybe they'll actually do the comic justice.

i am hesitant with this..as an avid,no make that obsessed fan,i am worried that it won't be dark enough.I have/own every Obarr version, every comic retelling, every single book, and movie,tv-series, over 17 different action figures, snowglobes,busts,2 original paintings by Obarr,25 posters, all soundtracks,a bootleg copy of the stage play from germany, the webisodes, blankets, watches,my wedding ring is a platinum version of the crow ring,as a child my grandfather told me legends of the crow at bedtime, and at pow-wows,when i first read the book i was so excited that my peoples legends were being told, when the movie came out i was overjoyed ,and all of my friends wanted to meet my ancestors, and hear the stories of the souls of the dead watching over us in the eyes of crows. i have a crow tat...and an entire crow room in my home for all my crow-junk.,so aside from me having some "issues" ha ha,you see i take it serious, and i want this to be dark, and hard-nosed just like the other stories.

I wouldn't take this job for any thing. Just trying to live up to the first movie would be hard enough, let alone worrying about the curse.

Norrington told Variety magazine back in December...

"“Whereas Proyas’ original was gloriously gothic and stylized, the new movie will be realistic, hard-edged and mysterious, almost documentary-style,”

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117997365.html?categoryid=13&cs=1&nid=2562

I don't think that it is an issue of whether it is a different story or not. If they are remaking it..they are remaking it. I am of the opinion...just leave it alone regardless of what they want to do with it, but they are moving forward, so I guess we have another remake.

I really wish they would reboot the franchise... I'd really like a proper Crow film, all the extra crap the first film added and changed was terrible. I mean... his last name wasn't even Draven... there was no boss battle using a character that bangs his sister... and he was not a rock star... ugh. For gods sake he was the only person who saw the crow!

WHY OH WHY does Hollywood screw with perfectly good films? There are some that DON'T NEED sequels! 'The Crow' is one, another that comes to mind is 'Highlander'! I understand the producers' insatiable drive to squeeze ever single dime out of a property, but c'mon people! Leave it alone!! To borrow a phrase from another film...

There can be only ONE

A women having half her head shot off and Fun-boy bangs her anyways. Eric freaking out and slitting his wrists then painting the Cat in the Hat on his wall with his own blood. Cutting a crown of thorns into your chest... basically make it more like the comic. Add all the good hard stuff, and take out the crap dark stuff like incest the movie added.

I can understand the reboot because of the unfortunate death of BL, but it's gonna be very, very hard to beat the perfomance of BRANDON LEE!!
he was magnificent in the crow!!
