According to Bleeding Cool, director Tony Scott (Man on Fire, Top Gun) is being mentioned as a top choice to direct the upcoming comic book film the Nemesis. The comic book series was created by Mark Millar and Steve McNiven.

From Bleeding Cool:

"I’m told that the announcement is definitely Nemesis being optioned and a director to be named.

The name most mentioned is that it is Tony Scott, director of movies such as Top Gun and Beverley Hills Cop II, is to direct the movie based on his comic book with Steve McNiven, Nemesis, currently on its second issue."

Now, there were a lot of rumors on this subject. The very first one was that Mark Millar himself will direct the movie but it looks like that after a lot of talking and meetings Tony Scott is the front runner to direct it.

Also, here is a description of the comic series thanks to ComicVine:

Mark Millar's creation, a combination of Batman meets the Joker. The most intelligent man in the world, and the only super villain. Nemesis' goal, to turn the lives of the best cops in the world into a nightmare. In response to Officer Blake Morrow imprisoning his parents for a hunting game involving runaway teenagers and their rich friends, and therefore robbing young Matthew Anderson of a normal childhood, Nemesis' ultimate goal is to destroy now Police Chief Morrow and everything he holds dear.

Wolvie09: I've never read this series, but it sounds pretty good. Even though it is not official, I can see Scott directing this. What are your thoughts?

This sound like another sick comic book. I want heros not anti-heros. I'm sure it will be full of guts & gore just like Kick Ass & Watchmen!

Millar has been hyping something up on his site. I hope this is it.
Either way this is some cool news. I am enjoying the series thus far. McNiven's art is rockin.

he better turn out to be super powered, since he essentially hoped on a plane and walked across it like it wasn't running at 300 mph, not to mention his cape wasn't even that much affected by it,
it's a good concept but it has it's fallacies in logic

I've heard good things about Nemesis; I'm gonna buy some of the trades. I think Tony Scott can handle that script/premise well.

I think the comics are pretty lame so far personally, I had to much expectation.

I don't think it will work well on the big screen. As an HBO series on television is a more successful bet like Spawn.

It's about time this came out. Millar's been teasing this since last week. I was hoping someone like Scorcese would do it, but Scott is cool. Hopefully it's "Man on Fire" Tony Scott though. It's not Millar's best work, but it should make a fun film. Looking forward to it. Acai Optimum

um, this comic sucks. i bought both issues hoping that the second would make up for the lame first and i was even more disgusted at how ridiculous, predictable and just boring it was. boo.

I've actually not read this yet, but it looks good, still wondering how DC is not taking MARVEL to court on this, but its all good. Its fantastic they play nice, very rare in businesses.

This is a fantastic series and although we're only two issues on, I can tell it's going to be another modern classic from Mark Millar! The art is as beautiful as always from Steve McNiven although it would be even better if it wad inked like his previous Marvel work IMO. I've been hoping it would get made into a movie since the series was announced and this guy sounds like a great choice for director!

LEE: To be honest, apart from that one piece of promo art, it really isn't at all that similar to Batman apart from a few subtle nods here and there...definitely not enough tfor DC to make a fuss over anyway!

About a week ago Tony Scott and Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) were said the frontrunners to direct Wolverine 2.

By process of elimination, with Scott apparently in talks to direct Nemesis, wouldn't that make Reeves the sole frontrunner for Wolverine?

MM needs to finish the damn comic arc before he starts the movie. I mean really Kick-Ass last issue came out damn near close to the movie release date. and it was ONLY 6 ISSUES!
