Columbia Pictures has unveiled the first teaser for their new science fiction movie, Battle: Los Angeles.

Official synopsis:

Battle: Los Angeles revolves around a Marine staff sergeant (Eckhart) and his new platoon's battle against an alien invasion on the streets of Los Angeles. The movie is presented as an intense real-time war movie from the perspective of the Marines. It has been described by some as Black Hawk Down meets Independence Day.



Battle: Los Angeles is set to hit theatres on March 11, 2011.

Looks ok, it's cool to see someone taking a (slightly) different approach and not having humans COMPLETELY over run by aliens. View point of the marines should be pretty cool :)

I'm saving my money with Skyline and will opt-out to downloading it from Stagevu. Skyline has way too much B.S. going on to be taken seriously.....cheesy actors, cheesy one-liners, fighter UAV aircraft doing crazy maneuvers (WTF?!), people surviving inexplainable impacts? This movie should only belong on TV.

Now Battle Los Angeles on the other hand, I will be first in line to watch it. It has that District 9 feel to it, with some sort of relevance to reality as far as how people vs. aliens would behave in a real world environment.

I'm just saying,

Black Hawk Down is one of my favorite movies and if this is as good as the trailer, it will be one of my favorite movies of next year, better than Thor, Captain America, and Green Lantern and that's saying a lot.

digging the trailer... music too... and the CNN clip in the trailer shows Paris being attacked so the aliens aren't just attacking Los Angeles, the movie takes place there... that's all
