A source close to the production of both THOR And X-Men: First Class has been kind enough to give some updates regarding the visual effects for these two comic book adaptations.
First, I asked what he's working on:
Yeah, working on Thor right now then X-Men: First Class.
How is the process going on X-Men: First Class? Any word on when can we expect the trailer?
I know FX shots for the trailer are being worked on right now. And I would think it should be out this month but I'm not 100% sure. It's hard to tell what will be in it exactly, as stuff get cut in and cut out last minute.
The trailer description for First Class...What can you say about it?
I haven't seen the First Class trailer yet, but the Havok powers (red beam) description is correct. One more thing I can add about what to expect, is that Magneto's helmet looks a hell of a lot better then in the previous movies. Kind of like Jim Lee's version of the helmet if I remember correctly. More sharp edged.
What about THOR?
Thor is looking great and coming along smoothly. I think another trailer for that will be out also at the end of the month with more finalized FX shots. The shots are looking awesome. I'm a big comic book nerd so I'm pretty happy. Definitely Marvel's first big superhero movie (meaning effects aren't fully held to reality like Iron man and Hulk).
How many CG shots are being made for First Class and how much for THOR?
I'm not sure the number of VFX shots for each movie all together. The company I work for has about 80 shots give or take for each flick.
Will you be working on Joss Whedon's Avengers?
I can't really talk about the bidding process for Avengers. But hopefully I'll be on that and Iron Man 3.
THOR is set to hit theatres on May 6 and
X-Men: First Class on June 3!
