Set in San Francisco, a young scientist desperately searches for a way to cure his ailing father’s Alzheimer’s. He begins immediate working by testing the cure on chimpanzees. When one of his test subjects, Caesar, begins to show rapid mental evolution, the scientist takes him home to save him from cruel lab owners. As Caesar’s intelligence grows, so do his ambitions for freedom and power.

Cool, I still have to watch Planet of the Apes. I'm not sure whether to watch the original, or Tim Burton's remake.

Destroyer -- certainly don't watch Burton's in preparation for this new film.

Darkmatter, I grew up with the original and as I've told my kids, they were my Star Wars, so I'm actually very excited about this new movie, hoping it will reinvigorate the franchise the way J.J. Abrams did Star Trek's.

FAIL!!

WTF IS WRONG WITH USING THAT OLD SCHOOL MAKEUP TRICK. BURTON'S APES LOOK MUCH MORE REALISTIC THAN THIS. AND DONT GET ME STARTED ON THE TITLE. ANDY IS THE ONLY THING GOOD ABOUT THIS MOVIE!

I'm still trying to figure out what the problem is with the title. How is Rise of the Planet of the Apes any worse than Escape From the Planet of the Apes, Conquest of the Planet of the Apes or Battle For the Planet of the Apes? To me, it fits right in with the rest.

@teabag-DAMMIT MAN! You beat me to it! I was going to make that "Deep Blue Sea" comparison myself! LOL! Loved that movie, hokey, but did it's job, which was making me shout out, "HOLY SHIT!" in the theatre when Samuel L. Jackson makes his "exit".

As far as this "Apes" movie goes, love the look of the ape. Looks real, but also you can see the intelligence in the ape. Got high hopes for this one. And Burton's remake had promise, but GOD, was it a huge disappointment!

Is this supposed to be a prequel or a remake?

That short clip was honestly very cool. It shows in a very creepy and ominous way that the monkey is thinking.

indoraptor12, it's essentially both. They're rebooting the entire franchise, but they're starting it at the beginning rather than start in the future and work their way back to the past as the original film series did. If anything, Rise is a LOOSE remake of the fourth film in the original cycle, Conquest of the Planet of the Apes. But the connections are very few.

This truly is (potentially) the start of a new Planet of the Apes franchise for a new generation, which will have easter eggs aplenty for fans of the originals.

Not a fan of the repetition with "of the"

"Rise of the Apes" is fine (although it sounds like something on the discovery channel) but I can live with this.
