The latest animated feature from DC is Batman: Year One, based on a comic book that was written by Frank Miller. Now, thanks to The Hollywodd Reporter, the voice cast has been announced and two new photos are also now online.

"Bryan Cranston, Ben McKenzie, Eliza Dushku and Katee Sackhoff have been tapped to star as the voices in Batman: Year One, the adaptation of the Frank Miller comic book classic from Warner Premiere, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation.

Lauren Montgomery and Sam Liu are directing the movie, the 12th entry in the successful series of DC universe animated originals. Tab Murphy wrote the script."

Cranston is playing Gordon, while McKenzie is Wayne/Batman. Dushku voices
Catwoman, while Sackhoff is Detective Sarah Essen, a Gordon love interest. Additionally, Alex Rocco lends his pipes as crime lord Carmine Falcone.

In Year One, a young Bruce Wayne is first starting out as a costumed vigilante. He creates an early bond with Lieutenant James Gordon, whose importance in the tale makes it as much as Gordon's story as Wayne's.

Batman: Year One is set to premiere at this year's San Diego Comic Con, followed by the DVD and Blu-Ray release in the fall.

Ben McKenzie is an awesome choice for Batman as is the rest of the Voice cast. He has a very brooding and deep voice yet youthful. As conflicting as that sounds it makes for a great Batman Year One voice when you think about it.

Interesting choice for Batman. I'm skeptical yet intrigued.

@IronAngelX your such a penis face. You must have sand in your vagina.

So DC only has to characters Batman and Superman? It would be nice to have an animated film without batman or superman. Oh well still going to watch and buy this.

I didn't like Under the Red Hood all that much but I've enjoyed/OWN all the other DC Universe animated films. 2012 is looking good for them with Justice League: Doom and The Dark Knight Returns tapped for release. Not to mention Green Lantern: Emerald Knights this June! Can't wait!

I wonder if darkmatter will come in here and try to be obnoxiously negative. Grif, I get grif, he's just bored. But this darkmatter guy is just a complete idiot.

=) That's right darkmatter, I'm fishing for you.

@cross marvel has been slackin on their pimpin for awhile in the animated movie department. they are trying to tell brand new stories instead of dc move to do more adaptations. it just hasnt been working imo

Marvel72: That is exactly what I was thinking. I'd also LOVE to see them do a serious version of the Judas Contract from the Teen Titans.

@MrReese-Love me some "Mask of the Phantasm." That pre cape and cowl scene is classic, as is him donning it and ALfred's reaction.

@Comickb00kguy and marvel72- Not gonna happen. it fell into developmental hell, and Timm has stated it not in the cards. That said, he stated the same for TDKR and it looks like we may get that next year.

Beautifully animated and talented voice cast, I expect no less from the DCAU. This'll top Under the Red Hood easily.

I sugest the voice from the batman animated series he gave out an epic performance but the art looks like it was done by Frank Miller.

This looks like a winner. Hope they stay true to the original Year One story because Kevin Smith changed it by having Batman pee in his pants during the pivitol 'You have eaten well.' scene.
I'd also like to see a New Teen Titans Judas Contract flick; it would obviously need to be longer than 70 minutes and would be half assed if they do it as Marv Wolfman wrote the teleplay -- without Jericho. You can't tell the Judas Contract and omit one of the central characters, Deathstroke's Son Jericho. Then the entire irony of the story is lossed.

@SynisterUrge- It was Bruce Greenwood (Captain Pike from Star Trek '09). I know what you mean. Kevin Conroy IS Batman, but Greenwood did a great job.
