First movie starring Logan Lerman as Percy Jackson was released last year and it received mixed reviews from critics and fans. It had a reported budget of $95 million and it made more than $226 million worlwide. Chris Columbus directed the film, with Brandon T. Jackson, Sean Bean, Alexandra Daddario and Pierce Brosnan also starring. Since there are five books, 20th Century Fox has set a release date for the sequel, which is a second book in the series.

Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters will be released on March 27, 2013.

It is still not confirmed whether or not Chris Columbus will direct the film. More info should be revealed soon.

And this is a short summary of the second book:

When Thalia's tree is mysteriously poisoned, the magical borders of Camp Half-Blood begin to fail. Now Percy and his friends have just days to find the only magical item powerful enough to save the camp before monsters overrun it. The catch: they must sail into the Sea of Monsters to find it. Along the way, Percy must stage a daring rescue operation to save his old friend Grover. He also learns a terrible secret about his own family, which makes him question whether being the son of Poseidon is an honor or a curse.

The movie was nothing like the book, but I enjoyed it none the less.

Sea of Monsters steps up the tension, and should ratchet up the action...

First movie had so much crap left out from the first book. Hopefully they'll make up for it and reveal that the real villain is the titan Kronos and that Percy is part of a major prophecy.

The books are great, but the film was a disgrace and left out details that were needed to further the story. This film shouldn't get made. I'd rather see Hitler come back to life and then get flogged by a billion Jews! At least THAT would be entertaining!!!!!!!!!!

I actually like Uma Thurman's version of Medusa a lot better than the shit that we were fed in Clash of the Titans! The first flick is watchable and entertaining. There is definitely room for improvement however.

This "more info" you speak of was revealed months ago. Columbus will produce, a guy named Thor Freudenthal will direct.

Hopefully it will have a different director than Columbus..
He took what was a funny action packed heroes journey, and tried to mold it into a Harry Potter clone..
The main antagonist of the first book was Ares and he wasn't even mentioned in the movie, that is just an example of how much he changed it.
