From the start, fans really didn't want to see a live-action adaptation/remake of the popular manga comic and animated film
Akira, which was created and directed by Katsuhiro Otomo. Critically acclaimed anime was released in 1988. Warner Bros. has been trying to move forward with the live-action movie for a long time, but there was always something in the way. After director Albert Hughes left the project, everyone thought that might be the end of it. But studio soon found the replacement, director Jaume Collet-Serra. Since then, we haven't heard much about the film. Well, it seems that they will make a final decision sometime next week, according to Variety's
Showblitz:
"WB's seems closer to making a decision on whether to give the film a greenlight after the filmmakers gave a presentation on Wednesday to Warner execs that included a revised budget. Sources say most people are confident execs will be happy with the new budget...but you never know in this town. Be prepared for some kind of decision sometime next week."
There you go...Next week we should get an answer. So, what are your thoughts on this?
