During press rounds for Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, film composer Hans Zimmer shared some more info about scoring The Dark Knight Rises, a third film in Christopher Nolan's Batman saga. He talked about what is the problem when working on sequels and letting fans be a part of the film's music (chant). Check it out below:

"I think that the problem with working on sequels is how to keep them fresh for yourself, and both with ‘Sherlock’ and with ‘Dark Knight’ so far I’ve been able to manage to do that. We’ve created this world on 'Dark Knight,' and we’re sticking pretty autonomously to this world, but at the same time, our fans and the audience are inhabiting this world. And if you can actually pull them in and let them be part of this adventure, which is really what I’ve been trying to do. You, it’s really just a small facet of the whole thing, but we are trying to think out of the box."

As for Zack Snyder-directed Superman reboot, Man of Steel, he said:

"Man of Steel is in direct conflict with something else, and I haven’t worked it out yet. That rumor keeps floating around, [but] I’m not engaging that one at the moment."

The Dark Knight Rises is set to hit theatres on July 20, 2012, while Man of Steel is set for June 14, 2013 release!

@neek2086 - I love John Williams, but since they need to break away from the Christopher Reeve Superman altogether, they do need a fresh musical take.

Michael Giacchino should compose Man Of Steel. Zimmer would be good, but he's doing every other movie at the moment.
Steve Jablonsky would be good too.

John Williams has to come back and do Man of Steel. Every movie he scores for 95% of the time is a Blockbuster Hit.

If the rough cut "pleases" Hans, then he'll consider taking on reinventing the Williams score. Otherwise he'll just pass. Which honestly will be quite telling as to whether the film is going to be any good or not.....stay tuned PEOPLE

@theGODDAMNSUPERGUY Yeah I didn't really care for the movie like that but the score was right on time in superman returns.... I would be very happy with John Ottman scoring the man of steel.

I'd LOVE for John Williams to come back and make a completely different score to Man Of Steel. No one can surpass John Williams better than himself ;)

Giacchino for the win. Howard Shore for the silver. Mark Rosenthal for the bronze (he did the score for Star trek VI: The Undiscovered Country)...

Tell Steve Jablonski and Linkin Park to stay the F away from this movie.

I think it should be different, BUT have a small nod to the classic Williams theme. I would make it part of the new theme, but not being used 100% of the time. 80% new, 20% Williams theme.

Or just use it for the ending or something. It will interesting to see what they do to it.

If not Hans, then Steve Jablonsky. He was the only good thing about the Transformers films. Well, that and some of the voice actors... and obviously the effects...

Tyler Bates was also great with Watchmen and he's a frequent collaborator of Zach Snyder. Tyler Bates co-scoring with Hans or Steve would be great for Man of Steel!

Who doesn't love John Williams work? Anyways, if i had to choose someone else, i would probably any of these names:
Thomas Newman
Michael Giacchino
Steve Jablonsky
John Debney
Howard Shore
John Murphy
Clint Mansell
James Newton Howard
Phillip Glass.

Anyone but that plagerist Tyler Bates.

Danny Elfman!

Just kidding.

I'll go with Philip Glass. He did do a reworking of Bowie and Eno's Heroes, after all.

Hans Zimmer is an incompetent d*ckhead, i have to say. He uses his team members to score for the films, rather than spending his own time and effort on the piece.

He's a piece of shit, and no I'm not trolling anyone.
