Well, the success of the rival team does indeed matter to others. With The Avengers becoming a true global phenomenon, other studios are also very much looking at Marvel's direction to see if their team-up of a lifetime with characters that have their own films, will actually work both at the box office and if the audience will accept it. Short answer: yes, it works. Now, according to Variety, Warner Bros. Pictures has set Will Beall to pen the script for Justice League film, which is a long-awaited big screen adaptation based on the team of DC superheroes. More below:

"... Warner Brothers quietly began getting its own all-star superhero pic back on track, tapping "Gangster Squad" scribe Will Beall to write "Justice League," based on the WB-controlled stable of DC Comics superheroes."

One thing that is also mentioned, is that Michael Goldenberg, one of the Green Lantern scribes, was hired to write Wonder Woman film. As far as other properties, Brad Peyton is working on a draft for Lobo, and as we already know, Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green were set to write The Flash. But, no updates on that just yet. So, what do you think of this news? Share your thoughts below!

Uhh...I hope they know what they're doing. Because I dont want no half-assed JLA film which only seems interested in making a shit load of money. Prove me wrong DC. You've disappointed me with GL, dont ruin JLA for me.

I really hope this works. Not to troll, but this would be a lot harder than The Avengers. Not only can this be easily messed up, but can actually ruin DC's movie run if done poorly. I really hope they pull it off, seeing how I was into Batman and Superman before I liked Marvel's characters, but deep down I have a bad feeling. These characters just don't seem to work well together in real life like they do in the comic world, but we'll see how it goes.

First I get news of a BlackPanther movie that I have been anxiously awaiting and now this. I cant be awake. Gangster Squad looks amazing!

This is a good idea, as long as Cavill remains Supe's, if he does well, and they introduce a couple of others such as Wonder Woman and Flash before hand.

They can use a JL as a sort of reboot for such franchises as GL, and perhaps Batman.

I pray to God they don't half ass this!

Doesn't matter that was done by the guy who brought GL, although that film had five writers in the end, so who knows.

Be interesting to see, although what a time to be a comic book fan, I might just get a JL and Avengers film in my lifetime.

My villain choice: Darkseid or Sinestro and his Corps.

It will be all the same shit. The movie will be made by the studio and focus on capturing demographics rather than actually making a good movie.

I just hope WB takes their time to do this right. I'd rather wait longer for a great JLA film then wait less for a crappy one.

Cool, they could bring Bale Batman, Cavill Supes, Reynolds Lantern, and the newly flash and wonder woman aboard after their movies, Aquaman and Martian Manhunter could be introduced on the film itself. Awesome

Knightrider - 6/5/2012, 6:52 PM
@PartyHard You pretty much just described every movie on the planet. Even Avengers has a target audience, some movies have large or small demographics.

BRING ON DARKSEID!
Knightrider
Knightrider - 6/5/2012, 6:53 PM
@Rockerdude22 Exactly, but could you imagine if it came out the same summer as Avengers 2, my lord the universe I think would collapse in on itself.
TonyChu

Vandal Savage as the coolant. Going the Darkseid route would unfortunatley make DC seem like they are copying Marvel with the whole invasion of Earth thing and intergallatic conqueror (Thanks) . Even though Darkseid was created before Thanos.

So it took WB / DC 43 years and the success of THE AVENGERS to actually give this the green light? SMH, mm mm mm. What a bitch move. LOL.

In anticipation of The Avengers?

Bullshit, they're just wanting to keep up with Marvel Studios'. And if Iron Man 3 comes out and does extremely well, they'll rush JLA and make it hysterically shitty.

Anyways, here's some redheads.

Yeah, no half-assed JL movie WB/DC! Really take your time on it. And with a proper director, this can be something really special.
Knightrider
Knightrider - 6/5/2012, 6:56 PM
If they want to avoid Darkseid, because some non-readers may make the comparison to Thanos from the end of the Avengers, then I would love to see Sinestro Corps attacking Earth [Insert reason here], which could be a nice way to kill Hal and bring in John Steward, plus like the Hulk if done well audiences may love the character, propelling his own movies again.

Also, DC is kinda famed for its multi-verse, so why not bring that in, have the injustice league fight the justice league after Anti-Flash causes a rift between the worlds.

Knightrider - 6/5/2012, 6:58 PM
@Antonio What I will say is, I don't think they will rush it, lets not forget they could have just used Justice League Mortals script if they wanted to quickly get it out.

I think Avengers has shown 2 key things: 1) All the heroes in 1 movie makes money and 2) All the heroes in 1 movie, that is good makes lots of money
PartyHard
PartyHard - 6/5/2012, 6:59 PM
@Knightrider

No, Green Lantern failed because it was created by a bunch of Studio executives who didn't really care and just wanted to appeal to as many people as possible, and ended up with a bland mediocre product. I expect more of the same.

Until they hopefully prove me wrong of course.
Tevii
Tevii - 6/5/2012, 6:59 PM
This has such potential.... but so did Green Lantern.... WB needs to change their strategy. This is just going to come across as a rip-off of Avengers. They shouldve concentrated on good solo movies.
And I cant say the writer has an impressive resume....

But i HOPE this lives up to the potential.. A JLA movie would be FREAKING AMAZING

NeoBaggins
NeoBaggins - 6/5/2012, 7:00 PM
I'd rather see an Aquaman movie than Lobo. At least it would be JLA related. And Green Lanterns failure lies with the producers. Not all on the writers, actors or director. They [frick]ed that movie up at the production level. Everyone had to work with shit.

They should keep Reynolds for continuity and people; BALE WILL NOT BE BATMAN.
JDUKE25
JDUKE25 - 6/5/2012, 7:02 PM
Yeah, I'd rather them have movies, along with Man of Steel, for Wonder Woman and Flash. Then a JL movie. Have Supes, WW, Flash, GL, (Introduce Martian Manhunter in the movie) and have Batman show up at the end of the movie and say I could've done all this in about 5 minutes with my (....) gadget.
Knightrider
Knightrider - 6/5/2012, 7:02 PM
@Durf Who said no build up movies, seems they are going to make WW and The Flash first, plus MoS may have hints at a bigger universe we are yet to see.

What I will say is, they don't need to have a solo film for each of them first, so yeah hopefully a Flash, MoS and WW pre-JL, but have GL (I know he has had his own film, but I see them changing him in this) Cyborg and Aquaman introduced in Avengers, perhaps in one of the other movies such things as Atlantis are hinted out so his appearance out the blue in JL isn't so out the blue
