It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive. Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act. But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar with a mysterious agenda. Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. But even if he dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane.

Starring Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard and Morgan Freeman, The Dark Knight Rises is set to hit theatres on July 20, 2012.

No spoilers really. Just explaining what we already knew. There are some new set pictures and only new footage toward the end. We do get a first look at a certain character (related to a certain dead character) played by a very young actress. It just emphasizes the scale of the film pretty much.

There are a few bits of new footage, nothing spoilery but worth avoiding if you want to go into the film as pure as possible.

Hype is through the roof.

Absolutely beautiful storytelling. I expect nothing less than incredible from this film. If you think about it, we're at the peak of what will be known as the greatest depiction of the Batman story in all of literature and cinema. Very exciting!

There is so much footage yet to be seen, especially with the comment about how so much of the film takes place underground. I love not being spoiled by seeing too much in the trailers. I think this movie is going to blow away everyone's expectations. Even if they won't admit it.

Legitimate goosebumps, also surprised how little they're revealing about Marion's character.

Looking forward to this. But I find it hard to believe that Batman would give up on the promise of vengence he made after his parents death for 8 YEARS! Can't wait to find out why he did that. What did he do for 8 years? Cocaine and hookers?
