According to
100gf, a radical movement is being inspired by a movement on Reddit to protest SOPA, by hitting one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year where it hurts: At the Box Office. From the site:
As opposition to Hollywood studios relentless support of SOPA and PIPA continues, a new campaign is urging people to boycott The Dark Knight Rises (this year’s big new Batman film) in protest. The campaign is based around this Reddit page and aims to hit Hollywood where it hurts by knocking some dollars off the film’s undoubtedly huge box office take.
Can a campaign to encourage a boycott of the film really do enough damage to make people sit up and take notice? Will The Dark Knight Rises be used to send a powerful message to Hollywood?
The Dark Knight Rises comes out July 20th, 2012. Starring Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, and Anne Hathaway. See it in theaters....or not?
