BIGBMH

I'm pretty cautious with this. I think the original movie was very good for it's time. I saw the sequel recently and I thought it was aweful, so I'm assuming the rest followed suit. Then i hear the remake was pretty bad. So, while there have been several Planet of the Apes movies, their success rate seems pretty low, with only one good one.

@ ed gross

nice one,mate.

wow that looks f*ckin awesome, apart from the big three thor, green lantern & captain america.

i'm actually looking forward to this more than super 8,loved the original a classic piece of sci-fi.

the sequels are good, but have nothing on the original.

BIGBMH, the first sequel, Beneath the Planet of the Apes, isn't that great. The third film, Escape From the Planet of the Apes, is actually a great flip on the original, with three apes coming to our time. It starts with a pretty light, humorous touch, but gradually becomes a sci-fi thriller. Really excellent, especially for a low budget film.

The fourth film, Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, is also quite excellent as it shows the revolt of the apes. Roddy McDowall does his best acting in the series in this one, truly bringing the character of Caesar to life through that makeup. Unfortunately the fifth film, Battle For the Planet of the Apes, was definitely aimed towards children and it loses any sort of edge the previous films have. The script is the weakest in the series and the budget is pretty much non-existent.

THIS LOOK REALLY GOOD, ITS COOL THAT THEY WENT TO THE ORIGIN AND MADE IT CURRENT..PLUS THEY GOT WETA, WETA AS FAR AS CG GOES IS TOPS AS FAR AS REALISM...THIS LOOKS GOOD.

Oh look they've done it again, turned a classic light hearted campy franchise into a stone faced, serious, and boring one.

this does look amazing and all but I am a little confused is this going to be the planet were marky mark first landed or the planet were he landed at the end of the movie?

Uhm is it just me or does this remind anyone else of the video game Ape escape?
NeoBaggins
NeoBaggins - 4/14/2011, 5:28 AM
BIGBMH Planet of the Apes is a limited concept. Snobs will tell you that the last remake was bad, when ironically, it out does the originals by being more of the same with better special FX. Easy win.

Trying to get too deep or fancy with it will make it an unintentional joke of itself. They're trying to pull a Nolan-style reboot with this. But making the monkeys actual monkeys instead of humanoid monkeys, creates a problem. The Chimps are now Chimps. The Apes are now Apes. So now, when one of these motherfuukers starts talking, i'm rolling on the floor laughing. If they don't talk, then it's not POTA and POTA purist will have to pee in their own mouths to get the taste out. Either way, fail. But I hope they talk. That's the fun fail option.

I can't believe I'm saying this but this looks really good, FOX might use this as a benchmark for making BETTER movies....please.....I know FOX has it in them to do good movies, its just they lack the right direction, if Prometheus and this are great films, then they are on a new road.....also if they can keep Nemesis Hard R then I know they are back to being the FOX I knew and loved back in the day
