We have Known for months that Legendary Pictures have been moving forward with a reboot of the ever popular Godzilla franchise. Now it seems a movie going by the name "Pacific Rim", which is set in a future where Earth is threatened by a large assortment of monsters will now serve a basis for the upcoming reboot.

Latino Review have gotten an exclusive scoop which said the popular fantasy director was offered the chance to direct. Assuming this news is even real it does not mean Del Toro has actually signed on. Del Toro is currently working with James Cameron on "Mountains Of Madness" which may get in the way of the planned 2012 release date.

Bleed: Judging by the source I would take this news with a grain of salt. Chances are with Del Toro's heavy workload he wont have time to do the movie. I don't see this news as being true , but with the studio getting the ball rolling nothing can be ruled out.

I don't know about you, but when I hear the word "rim" in a title, Godzilla isn't usually my first thought...

I doubt but it definitely would be cool

How about Neill Blomkamp (District 9) or Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In)?
